TAYLOR GRAY EARNS RUNNER-UP FINISH IN WILD FINISH AT TALLADEGA
Result is the seventh top-five this season for the Toyota Development Driver

TALLADEGA, Ala. (October 4, 2024) – Overcoming late-race damage, Taylor Gray finished second in Friday’s Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, coming eerily close to his first career victory. The driver of the No. 17 Tundra TRD Pro for TRICON Garage began the day in fifth position and stayed towards the front of the field during the first stage, earning stage points at the end. Gray kept himself in the hunt throughout the day, until he was caught up in a wreck with 23 laps to go that caused minor damage to his Tundra TRD Pro. The 19-year-old didn’t let this adversity deter him and came home second at the checkered flag, 0.041 seconds away from victory.

The result is Gray’s seventh top-five finish of the season, third in the last five races, and his 11th top-10.

William Sawalich began the day from pole position, becoming the youngest polesitter in Talladega Superspeedway history across NASCAR’s three national series at 18 years and 1 day old – as well as becoming the fourth-youngest polesitter in Truck Series history. Unfortunately, after Stage 1, the Minnesotan experienced electrical issues and finished 27th at the day’s end. Corey Heim started the race in the ninth position and earned stage points in both stages, ending the day 11th position after being collected in the last lap incident.

The NCTS returns to action at Homestead Miami Speedway on Saturday, October 26, for the second race of the Round of 8.

    TOYOTA QUOTES

TAYLOR GRAY, No. 17 A Place of Hope Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 2nd

How were you able to overcome the damage and get a second-place finish?

“Yeah, just stayed engaged all day and fought with my TRICON Garage guys. Can’t thank TRICON, Toyota enough for bringing really fast Toyota Tundra TRD Pros. Just need to figure out why I’m finishing everywhere else and not capable of winning yet. I don’t know if I’m living life wrong somewhere.”

Would you say your mission was accomplished for today?

“Yeah, at the end of the day, can’t be too upset. You’re pretty lucky if you can finish second (here, Talladega). Can’t thank my TRICON Garage guys enough for sticking with me and staying with it all day. Didn’t get the stage points we needed to really go anywhere in points. I don’t know, we’re living life wrong. Have come so close to winning these things and haven’t been able to do it.”

COREY HEIM, No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 11th

What did you see in that last lap crash?

“Just riding on the bottom, didn’t really see what happened. Three or four trucks in front of me checked up and really nowhere to go. Was feeling the accordion pretty bad, and just got collected.”

How do you feel about the next two tracks in this round?

“Yeah, I feel really good about it. The two next ones (Homestead and Martinsville) have been historically really good for us. I ran there (Homestead) last year, and I think we won both stages. Goal remains the same, we’re going there to win and I think our points situation is decent still so have to go be smart and get to Phoenix.”

TANNER GRAY, No. 15 Dead on Tools Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 30th

Take us through the late-race accident there.

“Yeah, I thought we were puting ourselves in a decent position, getting stage points there in both stages. I thought our green flag stop there went okay and got lined up there with teammates and was making good time. And then, we kind of just got split up and I got stuck on the top lane and we were just all trying hard to push to get back even with the bottom lane. I don’t know, I was pushing the 13 (Jack Garcia) and released him going into the corner and I don’t know if he just got loose or he was still connected to the 38 (Layne Riggs) or kind of what happened. But yeah, they both got loose and went down the race track and I just kind of stayed top and tried to throttle up to get past them and everybody ended up in the fence there.”

DEAN THOMPSON, No. 5 Boot Campaign Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 32nd

What did you see there in that accident?

“Honestly, I don’t know. I didn’t see anything, they just started wrecking there. My spotter told me to go low and I went low and I started getting free as I crossed from the banking to the apron, tried to hold onto it and then spun. The truck was dead. They should’ve pushed me to pit road, but didn’t.”

    5th – Lawless Alan
    12th – Ty Majeski
    20th – Jason White
    23rd – Matt Crafton
    28th – Layne Riggs
    29th – Jake Garcia
    35th – Ben Rhodes

LAWLESS ALAN, No. 33 AUTODockit Ford F-150 – YOU WERE CONSISTENTLY FAST ALL DAY. TAKE US THROUGH THE FINAL RESTART. “It worked out pretty much exactly how I wanted it to. I wanted to be on the bottom and I wanted the 9 and the 19 to be in front of me, and that’s how it worked out. We all got a really good launch and were all pushing really well. We got to third and were just riding, and I feel like I could have won the race if I effectively blocked the 17, but I knew that I had to do something in order to not be third. I feel like if I did that, I would have won, so I’m happy with fifth, but, man, what could have been. I’m super proud of Reaume Brothers Racing and AUTODockit and everybody that helps support me up to this point. I’m happy to have given them a finish and it’s not like we got lucky. We were there on merit and speed, so it feels good.”

TY MAJESKI, No. 98 Road Ranger Ford F-150 – “It’s just stupid racing. We had a fast truck and made a bad decision. I hopped out of line and cost ourselves some Stage 2 points, so I don’t know where that puts us in the points, but I guess it could have been worse if we finished 12th. We’ll move on to Homestead.”

DID YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES TRYING TO SUCK UP IN THE DRAFT? “I don’t know. I think it was just situational. The truck was fine. It’s just situational on who is pushing you and what lane is going. We had a fine truck, one that could have competed, but it just didn’t go our way today.”

JAKE GARCIA, No. 13 Quanta Services Ford F-150 – LOOKED LIKE A BAD PUSH INTO TURN ONE. “Yeah, definitely. Green flag pit stops like that everyone is trying to blend out towards the front, so I was leading the top lane there and it was just a push gone wrong because the intensity level was so high. I just want to thank everybody – all my guys, Quanta Services, Duke and Rhonda Thorson. I want to thank God for keeping me safe out there and just really fortunate to have this opportunity. I think we did a good job. I certainly learned a lot. This is like my first full superspeedway race and I definitely learned a lot, and I’m excited to close the year out strong.”

LAYNE RIGGS, No. 38 Love’s Travel Stops Ford F-150 – IT LOOKED LIKE YOU WERE A VICTIM OF CIRCUMSTANCE THERE. “Yeah, I had a lot of fun today. It was really my first superspeedway race ever and I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot. It was really just interesting how it all works out, but I thought we had a really good strategy. We short-pitted it a little bit over the main pack and I think me and a lot of Toyotas lined up together and I was able to lead the pack, so that was pretty cool. I got to really run a little bit of everywhere in the field today. I felt good out there. We were working our way up there and I don’t know what happened above me, but I just got right-rear hooked into the wall. It was definitely the hardest hit of my life. It didn’t feel good, but it’s a good thing that NASCAR has such a good safety team and they keep me safe. I’m just super thankful to Love’s Travel Stops for sponsoring the race and our truck today. Infinity Communications for all they do – a lot of disaster relief, especially with the hurricanes right now. I’ll take it. I learned a lot today and that’s speedway racing. We all know it.”

BEN RHODES, No. 99 Kubota Ford F-150 – “It was a rough day at Talladega. It started out really well. We qualified the best we ever have for a superspeedway, so we made all of the right adjustments on our Ford F-150 to have good single truck speed, and actually I was very happy with what we were able to accomplish up until the wreck. We had the third lane going with just three trucks with us as the caboose pushing ourselves to the front. To run a third lane at Talladega and be having success at it, I think, speaks a lot about the program. That’s really hard to do. It’s just unfortunate we weren’t able to keep running. I think we could have made that work in the long run and found our way to the front. That’s obviously, the long way around and to do that is a testament to these Ford F-150s.”

WHAT WAS YOUR IMPRESSION OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE START OF THE RACE WITH YOU GETTING PENALIZED? “It used to be that you couldn’t beat the leader to the line. That was the rule. This year, you can’t fire before the leader, but what ended up happening is that Sawalich was going late in the box. I got hit from behind by the 9 truck. He was ready to go and as he was pushing me it put my nose ahead of his and by the time Sawalich fired, I got in the gas. I gave the spot back, but obviously from the roof if must have looked like I went first, which I didn’t. I got hit from behind, but there’s only so much you can do for that, and that’s why I gave the spot back, hoping we’d be fine, but I guess they didn’t see it that way.”

    • Currey’s Talladega Stats: Bayley Currey has made three CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts at Talladega, posting a best result of 15th-place in 2020. Currey has also started four Xfinity Series races at the 2.66-mile restrictor plate track, and earned his series-best finish of 17th at the track in 2022.
    • Niece Motorsports Talladega Stats: Niece Motorsports drivers have combined to make 18 NCTS starts at Talladega Superspeedway. The team has picked up a total of two top-fives and four top-10 finishes, with the best result delivered by Trevor Bayne in 2020, when he was the runner-up.
    • Rogers’ Talladega Stats: Wally Rogers has called the last five NCTS races at Talladega, and in last year’s race, he earned his best finish with a 10th-place showing made by Lawless Alan. Rogers is a past winner at the super speedway having claimed the victory atop Bobby Labonte’s pit box in the 2007 NXS race. He’s made seven starts in both the Xfinity Series and Cup Series, and nabbed two top-10s on Sundays.
    • On the Truck: Currey’s No. 41 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from DQS Solutions & Staffing along with Masked Owl Technologies.
    • Recapping Kansas: At last, Bayley Currey secured his first top-10 finish of the season at Kansas Speedway. Currey started the night in the 22nd position, but gained track position to finish 15th in stage one. In stage two, his No. 41 Masked Owl Technologies Chevrolet came to life, and he picked up two points with a ninth-place finish in the stage. Currey excelled on the final restart and climbed into the top-five before a green flag pit stop. Passing trucks on differing strategies, Currey navigated his way to a much-needed eighth-place result.
    • Points Rundown: Following Currey’s impressive run in Kansas, the driver of the No. 41 picked up a spot in the points standings. Currey enters Talladega seeded 18th, 33 points behind Jake Garcia in 17th. He has a 13-point gap to Ty Dillon, who is scored in 19th.
    • Quoting Currey: Are you heading into this weekend with the mentality of ‘going for broke’ for the win?

“I think so. I’ve played the conservative game a lot of times and it never works for me. We were getting all we could get in Daytona, and granted, we did end up getting wrecked at the end, but we were still able to come back for a decent finish. I think we have to go into this weekend to get all we can get. We aren’t in the Playoffs, so might as well. At the same time, I know how fast this truck was at the start of the year, so I really don’t want to tear it up. So we have to play it somewhat smart, but I think all of our guys want us to go out and try to win it.”

    • Quoting Rogers: Bayley says he wants to go to the front and stay up there all race. Do you think that’s a good strategy for your group?

“Man, I’ve been on both sides of the strategy at Talladega. I’ve played races out where we’ve stayed up in the lead pack and tried to lead and got wrecked, but I’ve also been wiped out trying to ride in the back. On the other hand, I’ve stayed up front and we’ve won, and have stayed in the back and won. I don’t know if I have an answer on the right way to do it, but we’re going to give it our best shot this week for sure.”

Driver: Matt Mills | Crew Chief: Jon Leonard
    Matt Mills Racing
    @MattMillsRacing
    @MattMillsRacing

    • Mills’ Talladega Stats: Matt Mills will make his first Truck Series start at Talladega on Friday. Mills has competed in six Xfinity Series races at this track and secured his series-best finish here of 17th in 2019.
    • Leonard’s Talladega Stats: Jon Leonard has called a total of four NCTS races at Talladega Superspeedway since 2020, and he picked up his best finish at the track during his first start with a 17th-place run by Stewart Friesen. Leonard owns a top-10 finish as a Cup Series crew chief at this track which came when he worked with Kasey Kahne in 2018.
    • On the Truck: Mills’ No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from longtime partners J.F. Electric and Utilitra.
    • Recapping Kansas: Matt Mills’ night out in Kansas was cut short with a hard crash in the third stage of the race. Mills qualified his No. 42 J.F. Electric / Utilitra Chevy in 12th and held that spot in the first stage. In stage two, the team lost a few spots to 19th, but was making moves when he was caught up in an incident on the back straightaway. Mills was scored with a 33rd-place finish after he was unable to continue from the wreck.
    • Points Rundown: With his 33rd-place finish in Kansas, Mills dropped one spot in points to 23rd and is looking to rebound. Mills is only eight points behind his teammate, Kaden Honeycutt, in 22nd, and has a 53-point buffer to 24th-place Lawless Alan.
    • Quoting Mills: Do you use this race as an opportunity to try and snag a win, or are you more looking at it as another shot to learn for Daytona next year?

“Well, for my past experience with super speedway in the teams I’ve been with, our number one goal was to take care of the car. Before this year, I never really had any chance to go to the front and try to stay up there. Being with Niece Motorsports, we can take a bit of a more aggressive approach. Thankfully, having TJ Majors on top of the roof spotting for us – he’s one of the best on super speedways – I think will be very exciting for me to learn from him. Hopefully, we can get together with our teammates and go have a good race.”

    • Quoting Leonard: What type of strategy do you think is going to be the best way to go this weekend?

“We’ve got to race. Got to race. I think if we can be up front all day, that’ll be the best approach for us. I think it takes working with people through the first part to build that relationship for the end. You’ve got to know where to be. You can run at the back all day and finish seventh or so if you luck into it, but in order to know who’s trucks drive well and who’s fast, I think you have to know where to put yourself to manipulate air. If you wreck, you wreck; but if you look at the Cup Series guys you always see the same handful of drivers up front and I think that’s for a reason. It’ll be a good shot for us to put our name out there.”

No. 44 Rust-Oleum Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Danny Bohn | Crew Chief: Tom Ackerman
    Danny Bohn Racing
    @DBohn659
    @DannyBohn

    • Bohn Returns: SMART Modified Tour ace Danny Bohn returns to the Truck Series with Niece Motorsports this week as he climbs into the No. 44 Chevrolet. Bohn has started 35 NCTS races over the course of his career and is a four-time winner in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Series. In 2023, Bohn joined forces with the team to attempt the fall race at Bristol Motor Speedway, but is eyeing his first race start in the No. 44.
    • Bohn’s Talladega Stats: Danny Bohn has made two prior NCTS starts in Talladega, and in his most recent run in 2021, he walked away with a top-10 finish in eighth-place.
    • Ackerman’s Talladega Stats: Niece Motorsports’ Competition Director, Tom Ackerman, returns to the top of the pit box for the No. 44 team at Talladega. In the series’ first race at Talladega, Ackerman navigated Ted Musgrave to a third-place finish in 2006 and has made a total of three starts at the track.
    • On the Truck: Bohn’s No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from Rust-Oleum and AmeriFast Supply. Bohn has had a longstanding 15-year relationship with Rust-Oleum, having sponsored his dirt racing cars and short track cars since 2009. Bohn’s ‘day job’ is working as a Sales Manager at AmeriFast Supply in Mooresville, NC. AmeriFast Supply also owns the modified car that Bohn races throughout the year.
    • Racing SMART: Bohn is scored third in the SMART Modified Tour Series points with two races left to run in the season. In August, he won a race at Carteret County Speedway and is deep into a Playoffs run heading to South Boston Speedway for the penultimate race on October 12th. The series finale will be held the following week at North Wilkesboro Speedway on October 19th.
    • Modifieds at the Mad House: Bohn is a past track champion of Bowman Gray Stadium’s Modified division and competes in several races throughout the year at the historic venue. In June, he won a 100-lap feature around the quarter-mile short track.
    • Owner’s Points Outlook: Since the team’s first race of the season at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, the No. 44 has climbed the owner’s points ladder. Despite having only started four races this year, the part-time truck jumped to 36th in points last week following Conor Daly’s 17th-place finish.
    • Quoting Bohn: You’ve had a few good runs on super speedways, so in your past experience, what’s the key to doing that?

“I think you’ve just got to be there at the end. The first time I went to Talladega, we wrecked out on lap 20. So, it’s going to be one of those games where you have to try and race smart throughout the day and hope that you make it towards the end of the race. If you can make it to the last lap, you’ll have a good shot at getting a good finish. At a speedway, there’s a high chance of crashing on any given lap, so avoidance is key to keep yourself in the game.”

    • Quoting Ackerman: With there being four team trucks in the field, does that allow you to control your own destiny?

“I think that doesn’t hurt us, but at the end of the day, these races can play out in so many different ways and it’s easy to lose your help quickly depending on how the lanes move. I think Danny has a good idea of how to stay out of trouble here, and if we all get lined up together, that’s going to be great knowing that we can help each other.”

About Rust-Oleum: Rust-Oleum was founded on the principle of creating innovative products. In 1921, sea captain Robert Fergusson noticed that fish oil prevented rust from forming on his ship’s metal deck. Working with a chemist, Fergusson developed one of the world’s first rust-preventive paints and Rust-Oleum was born. Starting with just 24 colors of paint, Rust-Oleum has grown to be a global leader in manufacturing innovative coatings that empower do-it-yourselfers and professionals alike.

About AmeriFast Supply: AmeriFast Supply is a family owned and operated industrial distributor of products such as fasteners, hydraulic fittings, fluids, custom hoses, adhesives, electrical supplies as well as a provider of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), Custom to Spec™ and kitting services.

No. 45 Moore’s Venture Foods Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Kaden Honeycutt | Crew Chief: Phil Gould
    Kaden Honeycutt Racing
    @KadenWHoneycutt
    @KadenHoneycutt10

    • Honeycutt’s Talladega Stats: Kaden Honeycutt has only made one previous NCTS start at Talladega, but in his lone race back in 2021, the driver of the No. 45 finished 11th.
    • Gould’s Talladega Stats: Phil Gould has served as crew chief for five CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races at Talladega Superspeedway. In 2020, Gould’s team finished second with Trevor Bayne behind the wheel. Gould has called seven Xfinity Series races here with one top-10 earned by Elliott Sadler (seventh) in 2015. The track is the site of his Cup Series debut atop the box which came while working with Ryan Reed in 2016.
    • Part-Time Turned Full-Time: Yesterday, Honeycutt was announced as the team’s second addition to its full-time driver lineup for 2025. Having competed in 10 starts this year, Honeycutt’s five top-10s proved to be the most out of any driver in the No. 45 truck. He will finish out the rest of this season to prepare for a Playoffs run next year.
    • On the Truck: Honeycutt’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from Moore’s Venture Foods, a family-owned grocery store chain located in Oklahoma. 2024 marks the company’s 50th anniversary of the first store opening, and has been operated by the Moore family for three generations.
    • ‘Double Dirty’: Following the conclusion of Friday’s Love’s RV Stop 225, Honeycutt will rush across the street to the Talladega Short Track and compete in the Jerry Goodwin Tribute Race to Beat Cancer with his dirt super late model. Honeycutt plans to race both Friday and Saturday night’s features with the Hunt the Front Dirt Series.
    • Recapping Kansas: Kaden Honeycutt had another great showing at Kansas and finished where he did in the spring. Honeycutt started off the day by qualifying sixth and picked up two spots to cross the line fourth in stage one. In stage two, the truck dropped to eighth, but a gutsy strategy call to stay out on the racetrack led to another fourth-place finish.
    • Owner Points Outlook: Honeycutt and the No. 45 team came oh-so-close to advancing into the Round of 8, but misfortunes in Bristol left the team five points short of making the cut. The team’s primary focus has since shifted to accumulating as many points as possible for the rest of the year as fifth place is still up for grabs.
    • Quoting Honeycutt: Have you ever been in a position to go race your truck and instantly hop in a dirt car on the same day?

“Nope, I’ve never done that. That’s going to be extremely fun for me to do and I can’t wait to go there and race at both the super speedway and the dirt track all in the same day. Thankfully, Talladega isn’t a physically-demanding track for us in the trucks, but it’s all mentally draining. I’ve never raced on the Talladega Short Track before, but it’s different than what I’m used to. There’s red clay, and they’ve added a wall there, so things have changed. I’m really excited to go from track-to-track and hope we can put together some good runs at both.”

    • Quoting Gould: Do you think your team needs to go after stage points or is it best to wait till the end?

“I think it’s best to race the whole time. Stage points are nice to chase after since we are still in a points battle of our own, but also, Kaden just needs to learn how to race on the speedways. I’ve seen this before when I was working with Carson (Hocevar). We rode around in the back for his first couple of speedway races, and when it came time for him to race, he really didn’t know what to do. So, I think it’ll be best looking ahead to next year for Kaden to go out and race all day so he’s ready for Daytona.”

About Moore’s Venture Foods: Moore’s Venture Foods is a family-owned grocery store chain located in Oklahoma. Layne Riggs and the No. 38 Love’s RV Stop / Peak Ford F-150

    Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway Competition Notes

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 1, 2024) – Layne Riggs travels to the state of Alabama this Friday to make his Talladega Superspeedway debut.

Following a runner-up finish at the Kansas Speedway, Riggs extends his streak of Top-5 finishes to five. This will be Riggs’ first race at the 2.6-mile superspeedway and third superspeedway race of the season. Love’s RV Stop and Peak will join Riggs in his Talladega debut.

Front Row Motorsports is looking to build on the success the truck program has had at Talladega. In four starts, FRM trucks have had two Top-5s and two Top-10s, including last year’s victory with Brett Moffitt behind the wheel of the No. 34 Ford F-150.

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series will hit the high banks of the Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, October 4th with qualifying at 1:00 pm ET. The Love’s RV Stop 225 is scheduled for later that afternoon at 4:30 pm ET. Fans can watch the action live on FS1 or can listen in via the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM channel 90.

    No. 38 Love’s RV Stop / Peak Ford F-150:

    DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:

“I don’t have many laps on the superspeedways, but I’m excited for Talladega. Things happen fast so you have to be up on the wheel and prepared for anything. I’m ready for it though. We have a nice streak of Top-5’s going, so I’d like to continue that and even bring home another trophy. I think it’s going to be a good weekend.

“It’s awesome to have Love’s RV Stop back on board. They are the entitlement partner for the race too, so it would be awesome if the Love’s RV Stop Ford F-150 won the Love’s RV Stop 225. Hopefully I can make it happen.”

    CREW CHIEF DYLAN CAPPELLO:

“I’m really proud of Layne. We all are. Our streak of Top-5’s with two wins isn’t an easy task and is a true testament to how hard Layne and the team work. Hopefully we can keep it going and get the win this weekend.”

  • Niece Motorsports Promotes Kaden Honeycutt to Full-Time NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Ride in 2025

Niece Motorsports Promotes Kaden Honeycutt to Full-Time NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Ride in 2025

Honeycutt to drive the team’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST full-time starting next year.

Salisbury, NC (October 1, 2024) – Today, Niece Motorsports officials announced Kaden Honeycutt as the second addition to its full-time driver lineup for the 2025 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season.

Honeycutt, at 21 years-of-age, has competed in a part-time schedule behind the wheel of the No. 45 Chevrolet this season, notching five top-10 results in 10 starts. He produced standout showings at Kansas Speedway, where he finished fourth in both races, and Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he was in contention for the race win before pit road issues relegated him to seventh.

The driver, who hails from Aledo, Texas, first joined Niece Motorsports for a one-race deal at Pocono Raceway in 2023. His journey included driving part-time for four different team owners before aligning with fellow Texan, Al Niece. Niece saw Honeycutt’s potential and quickly signed him on for a majority role as the anchor driver for the No. 45 team this year.

Kaden’s results were instrumental to qualifying the No. 45 team into the Owner’s Playoffs this season, but he looks forward to his biggest opportunity with the full-time effort in 2025.

“I can’t even begin to tell you how much this opportunity means to me,” said Honeycutt. “Before I got connected with Al (Niece) and Cody (Efaw), last year, I thought my career was over. Both of them took a big chance on me leading into this year and it’s kept me hungry to make them proud. My group of guys on the No. 45 team have become brothers to me, and we’ve been able to share such a good relationship.”

“We’ve had some good runs this year, and I know what our team is capable of,” he continued. “Heading into 2025, I really think we’ll have a great shot at competing at a high level on a weekly basis. I can’t say thank you enough to Al, Cody, and everyone at Chevrolet for this. It’s going to be a great year together.”

Though he hasn’t been in the truck at every race this year, Honeycutt’s schedule was bolstered with a full-time championship bid in the CARS Tour Pro Late Model Series. Along with that, he’s made a healthy amount of CARS Tour Late Model Stock and Hunt the Front Dirt Late Model Series starts, and even competes virtually in the eNASCAR iRacing Coca-Cola Series. He was also tabbed to run in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover Motor Speedway.

Honeycutt’s versatility to hop behind the wheel and contend in the various disciplines put him on Al Niece’s radar as a top prospect, leading to his promotion.

“Kaden has shown so much potential behind the wheel this season and we are thrilled to have him on board full-time with us,” said Niece. “With Kaden’s talent and our team’s hard work, we expect to be contenting for wins and championships next year. He’s a true racer, and I think that he has the tools to make a great career in the sport. I’m looking forward to see what he’ll be able to accomplish.”

The addition of Honeycutt marks the second domino to fall into place for Niece Motorsports’ 2025 season plans. Last week, the team announced a one-year contract extension for Matt Mills to remain as the driver of its No. 42 entry. Mills will have longtime partners, J.F. Electric and Utilitra on board as his primary sponsors for all 25 races next year.

Additional team announcements, including the remainder of the driver lineup, partnerships, and personnel will be released as the season progresses. Visit niecemotorsports.com for all the latest news.

Boyd’s Sponsor, Tibbetts Lumber, Helping Helene Victims Ahead of Talladega Race

Mooresville, NC (October 1, 2024) – NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Driver, Spencer Boyd and his partner, Tibbetts Lumber Co. will be together again on another Superspeedway when the Series heads to Talladega, AL this weekend. The race comes in the aftermath of hurricane Helene ravaging much of the Southeast including Tibbetts’ service area of Florida where they are helping victims recover.

“What Tibbetts is doing in their communities is what every company should aspire to do and I’m honored to be partnered with them,” beamed Spencer Boyd.

Tibbetts’ Englewood location south of Tampa is a great example of how the company’s values of family and community shine through in tough times. Six employees were first on the scene even before FEMA, First Responders, or anyone else to help where they could. Met with hugs from countless people, the team assisted people that where stuck in their homes, floors that had fell in on some homes, and helped people pick up what was left of their life.

Russ Hallenbeck, CEO of Tibbetts Lumber commented, “Our company is a people company. Without our people we wouldn’t be where we are today. I am proud to work with folks that genuinely want to go out and help without any other motive but to be there for our neighbors.”

The humanitarian effort comes right before the company’s sponsorship of Boyd during The YellaWood 500 weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Tibbetts Lumber was the primary sponsor of Spencer Boyd and Freedom Racing Enterprises first ever race at Daytona International Speedway earlier this year.

Boyd commented on the upcoming race, “I love plate racing! We finished 5th in this truck at Daytona and had some time to tune on it through the season so we’re excited to get to the track where I scored my first win. To have Tibbetts (Lumber Co.) on board for this race means a lot and I certainly want to help highlight what kind of people they are.”

The Love’s RV Stop 225 is the only stop for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Talladega Superspeedway. The race is on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 3:30pm CT and can be seen live on FS1.

  • Danny Bohn To Drive Niece Motorsports’ No. 44 Chevrolet at Talladega

Danny Bohn To Drive Niece Motorsports’ No. 44 Chevrolet at Talladega

SMART Modified Tour Ace rejoins Niece Motorsports for one-race deal.

Salisbury, NC (Sept. 30, 2024) – Danny Bohn is reuniting with Niece Motorsports to drive the No. 44 Rust-Oleum / AmeriFast Supply Chevrolet Silverado RST at Talladega Superspeedway.

Bohn, a four-time winner in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Series, actively competes in the SMART Modified Tour which primarily holds races throughout the Carolinas and Virginia. Last month, he earned his first race win of the season at Cartaret County Speedway.

This will not be the first time that Bohn has driven for Niece Motorsports. Last year, Bohn teamed up with Rust-Oleum and AmeriFast Supply and attempted to qualify the No. 44 entry into the fall race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Friday’s race at Talladega will mark his second outing with the team.

“I am excited to get back behind the wheel of the No. 44 Chevy for Niece Motorsports at Talladega this week,” said Bohn. “It is extra special to have Rust-Oleum and AmeriFast Supply on board with us, who both have been long time supporters of my racing career. Last time I was there I ended up finishing eighth, so hopefully we can better that result this week!”

Rust-Oleum has been a longtime supporter of Bohn’s career and the brand looks forward to carrying the partnership at Talladega.

“Danny has been a friend of Rust-Oleum for over 15 years now and we could not be happier for him to have the chance to race at Talladega,” said Bryan Wilson, Director of Sales for Lowe’s. “Danny and Rust-Oleum have had the opportunity to partner on various projects since his dirt track days at the East Lincoln Motor Speedway. I am excited to see what he can do this weekend.”

The Freehold, New Jersey native has made 35 Truck Series starts in his career to the tune of five top-10 finishes, including a pair of high-ranking results on the drafting tracks at Talladega and Daytona. Bohn is a multi-time winner and past champion at Bowman Gray Stadium, winning the Modified title in 2014.

With two races left in the SMART season, Bohn is among the top drivers battling for the series championship, currently scored third in points. Up next for the tour is a stop at the South Boston Speedway on October 12th before the season finale at the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway on October 19th.

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series heads to Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, October 4th for the running of the Love’s RV Stop 225. Live coverage of the event will be aired on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 4:30 PM ET.

COREY HEIM DRIVES THROUGH THE FIELD TO SWEEP RACES AT KANSAS IN 2024
Heim, Taylor Gray advance to Round of 8 Playoffs

KANSAS CITY (September 27, 2024) – Corey Heim won his sixth race of the season in Friday night’s NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) race at Kansas Speedway. Heim drove through the field to earn the victory after a tire issue in practice resulted in the No. 11 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro not participating in Friday’s qualifying session. He led 64 laps (of 134) en route to victory lane after also winning the NCTS race at Kansas in May.

Heim advances to the Round of 8 in the NCTS Playoffs and is joined by TRICON Garage teammate Taylor Gray, who also clinched his spot in the next round of the postseason with an 18th-place finish at the mile-and-a-half oval. Tanner Gray also earned a sixth-place finish on Friday night for Toyota.

The NCTS returns to action next Friday, October 4 at Talladega Superspeedway.

COREY HEIM, No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 1st

What was the first thought you had when you saw Ty Majeski fall to the apron?

“Just a deep sigh of relief. We were in the best truck all night. Just a huge thank you to my TRICON Garage guys. This is my favorite track. I love coming here. I look forward to this. I’ve had a huge smile on my face all week coming to this place. Just glad we could sweep the year here. It’s such an awesome place to come. Like I said, huge thank you to TRICON Garage, Safelite, Toyota Racing. Certainly, thought I had it lost there with the 98 (Ty Majeski) almost making it on fuel. It just shows my team made the right call.”

When did you know you had this win?

“Just from the very beginning. Honestly, at the beginning of the week knowing we were going to Kansas Speedway, my favorite place, our best track, I knew we had a good shot from the get go. Obviously, we had a tough issue in practice with the right front tire. My guys scrapped all day to get this thing back in shape and were able to come from the back. I think we finished third in the first stage which was just unreal just being able to pass 30 cars that fast. So thankful for Safelite, Toyota Racing, TRICON Garage. This was such an unbelievable truck.”

What was it like trying to chase down Ty Majeski knowing he was saving fuel?

“It certainly kept me honest. He did such a good job at making it almost to the end there. If he was one lap shorter, he would’ve made it.”

How good is this team as we look ahead at the next round of the Playoff races?

“I think to begin the season, we’ve had our strengths and we’ve had our weaknesses, but we’ve really been able to level that out in the last couple months. Coming here, we knew we would be good but just going to some short tracks and stuff we’ve made a lot of progress. I’m looking forward to showcasing them this next round.”

TANNER GRAY, No. 15 Operation 300 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 6th

How was your Tundra TRD Pro in tonight’s race?

“I thought to fire off we were a little bit tight, but overall we were good. We made decent ground on that first start and got to eighth or so and then had a good pit stop and restarted seventh. We were probably a little bit too free on the second stage, but still had decent speed. We had another really good stop to start the third stage that put us a little closer to the front and struggled a little bit on those restarts just getting going so we lost a little track position and put ourselves behind. Just proud of everybody at TRICON Garage for bringing fast trucks. It’s cool to see Corey (Heim) win and to have another one run well. I’m proud of all of these guys and everyone back at the shop that builds our trucks.

TAYLOR GRAY, No. 17 A Place of Hope Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 18th

What does it mean to be advancing to the Round of 8?

“I can’t thank all of my guys enough. Jeff Hensley (crew chief) on the box for bringing me a fast A Place of Hope Tundra TRD Pro. Obviously, had a really fast truck. Had a good stage one and stage two, starting so far in the back and able to make up a lot of ground there. Unfortunately, I’m having some issues with the right front under pit stops. We left pit road for the start of stage three and I had a right front rub and I had to come back down and clear it and just got back in the pack and just got wrecked. Overall, good to move on to the Round of 8 and just start over.”

    UNOFFICIAL FORD FINISHING ORDER:

    2nd – Layne Riggs
    15th – Ty Majeski
    21st – Jake Garcia
    22nd – Ben Rhodes
    25th – Matt Crafton
    29th – Frankie Muniz
    30th – Lawless Alan

LAYNE RIGGS, No. 38 Infinity Communications Group Ford F-150 (Finished 2nd)

“It feels amazing and shows the testament to this team and how much speed we have. I feel like our mile-and-a-half program was definitely the weakest link or everything we have going on right now. Everybody really progressed over the past year. The 38 truck just kind of stayed in its middle range, but to come out here with this new truck which we did a lot of R&D to get better with, and run that well I am super happy with it all. I just wanted a good solid finish today. Everybody wants to win but I just wanted to walk out of here with a good solid finish. To finish P2 at a mile-and-a-half track when I have only had like five or six mile-and-a-half starts ever, I learned a lot tonight. I think racing up front with those guys that have a lot of experience and can throw blocks and race for the lead, that really helps me a lot and helps me be a better race car driver. Running 25th to 30th all day you don’t really learn anything. It is the first time I feel like I have run with the good guys at this kind of track and learn something from them. This is the happiest I have ever been finishing second before because I feel like I we gave it all we have and that is all that matters.”

TY MAJESKI, No. 98 Soda Sense/Curb Records Ford F-150 (Finished 15th)

“Obviously we were trying to max save fuel but also manage the gap to the 11. I felt like I saved as much as I could and still put myself in position to win. The math just didn’t add up tonight. We had a good Ford F-150. I don’t regret the call because that was our only shot to win and there were only three laps that mattered to us tonight, the end of Stage 1 for a playoff point, the end of Stage 2 for a playoff point and the end of the race for five. We just went for the win and it didn’t pan out tonight.”

BEN RHODES, No. 99 Kubota Ford F-150 – (Finished 22nd | Eliminated from Playoffs)

“I was trying to stay in traffic to save as much fuel as I could and also manage the tires but ultimately where I was running it was too little too late. When we fired off something was wrong with the truck to start the race. We made massive adjustments and it didn’t seem like anything was fixing it. I think somehow our bar load got away from us. We have to go back and see what happened there. All in all, I hate it for Kubota and all of our partners and everyone at ThorSport Racing who work really hard. I wanted to give them a championship run. It comes and goes like that. We have had three really good seasons in the past with a first, second and first. I wish we had a better season all around. When you don’t have the finishes and the running positions to get the stage points, it leads to this.”
