Stretch Drive: In January, Young’s Motorsports announced it would graduate from the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series to the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2024 with rising star Leland Honeyman Jr. behind the wheel of the team’s No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro for the entire 33-race season continuing with Saturday afternoon’s Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway.

About Leland: The Phoenix, Ariz. native began honing his racing skills at the tender age of two racing Quads. By four years old, he moved into Trophy Karts and then collected three series championships in off-road racing Trophy Karts.

After an instrumental tenure in Go Karts, he moved into the Bandolero competition in 2015 and was crowned a Bandolero National Champion two years later. From there, he moved into Limited Late Models before graduating to the Carolina Pro Late Model Series division in 2021, where he earned championship-runner-up honors and picked up an astounding victory in the annual Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway Fall Brawl.

Honeyman, 19, returns to the Mooresville, N.C.-based organization, where he ran an impressive ARCA Menards Series East Series campaign, finishing third in the 2022 championship standings.

During the 2023 season, he made eight NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, highlighted by a 21st-place finish at the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway Road Course.

All-Aboard!: For the 27th of 33 NASCAR Xfinity Series races this season, Young’s Motorsports welcomes back Hardscape Contractors to the Mooresville, N.C.-based team as the primary partner on the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro for the 200-lap race on Saturday afternoon.

Since 2008, Hardscape Contractors have shared our passion for the great outdoors by creating award-winning landscapes that inspire our customers to spend more time outside.

Hardscape Contractors also partnered with the team in June for the series’ annual stop at the Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway.

Leland Honeyman Jr. NASCAR Xfinity Series Kansas Speedway Stats: Saturday afternoon’s Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway will mark Honeyman’s second Xfinity start in the Heart of America.

Last September, Honeyman finished 26th after starting 28th in the No. 66 Ted Russell Ford Lincoln Ford Mustang for Motorsports Business Management (MBM).

This weekend is part of a quadruple weekend with the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series in action on Friday night.

Honeyman and the Young’s Motorsports team join the non-Playoff Xfinity Series teams looking to spoil the Playoff parade which kicks off on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series will have their shot in the City of the Fountains to begin the Round of 12 of their Playoffs for a tense afternoon of racing in the Hollywood Casino 400 on Sunday, Sept. 29.

The Xfinity Series rookie driver will look to improve his overall speedway average Xfinity finish of 23.8.

Leland Honeyman Jr. NASCAR Xfinity Career Stats: Entering Kansas, Honeyman has 34 career NASCAR Xfinity Series races to his credit, earning a career-best fourth-place finish at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway after starting 33rd in the Ag-Pro 300 for Young’s Motorsports in April 2024.

Since 2023, he has carried an average finish of 22.9.

Bristol Motor Speedway | Food City 300 Race Recap: In the 26th race of the 2024 Xfinity Series season, Young’s Motorsports and Honeyman searched for another solid finish in the team’s inaugural Xfinity Series trip to “Thunder Valley” in Bristol, Tennessee.

Qualifying for the race on his qualifying speed, Honeyman’s quick movement toward the front of the field would be derailed as the Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year candidate was plagued with mechanical woes on his No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro which prevented significant progress through the race.

Still, Honeyman kept his nose clean and registered a 29th-place finish at the checkered flag.

Calling the Shots: Guiding Honeyman Jr. as crew chief of the No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro is longtime crew chief Andrew Abbott.

On Saturday, he will be crew chief in his 124th NASCAR Xfinity Series race. In his previous 123 races, he has four top-five and 13 top-10 finishes.

The season’s 27th race will be his fifth tango at Kanas Speedway as crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series at Kansas Speedway: This weekend will mark Young’s Motorsports’ inaugural NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Kansas Speedway.

However, since 2014, the Mooresville, N.C.-based Young’s Motorsports team has had an average starting position of 24.6 and an average finish of 23.3 in 32 Kansas Speedway starts overall.

Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series History: Since entering the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024, the family-owned organization has logged 26 starts and maintains an average starting position of 27.2 and an average finish of 22.1.

    Leland Honeyman Jr. Pre-Race Quote:

On Kansas Speedway: “I’m looking forward to rebounding with my Young’s Motorsports team at Kansas Speedway. We had such potential at Bristol Motor Speedway, but circumstances beyond our control prevented us from being able to capitalize on a fast race car.

“Kansas is a unique race track with many different grooves and the racing is great.

“I’m confident that I can build on my Kansas Speedway debut last fall and contend for a solid top-20 finish on Saturday afternoon with our No. 42 Hardscape Contractors Chevrolet Camaro.”

  • Matt Mills Returns to Niece Motorsports for Full-Time NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Season in 2025

Matt Mills Returns to Niece Motorsports for Full-Time NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Season in 2025

Mills will continue to drive the No. 42 J.F. Electric / Utilitra Chevrolet full-time for a second season.

Salisbury, NC (Sept. 24, 2024) – Niece Motorsports officials announced today that New Philadelphia, Ohio’s Matt Mills will return for a full-time NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season in 2025. Mills has been re-signed for a second year behind the wheel of the No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST.

Mills, who is amidst his first full-time effort in the Truck Series, was signed onto the team last October. He recalled the original announcement as “a great opportunity to get into top-tier equipment”, and is eager to continue his career with the nine-time race winning team.

“I’m extremely fortunate to have people like J.F. Electric and Utilitra coming on board and supporting me on this journey again,” said Mills. “It’s been a really fun time with everyone at Niece Motorsports with what we’ve been able to build on throughout the year. I’m hoping to carry that on through the next few races and into the 2025 season. Every opportunity I get, I’m very fortunate, and that wouldn’t be possible without my partners. I appreciate Niece Motorsports for believing in me; it’s a dream come true to race for an operation like theirs and race for Al Niece. I’m excited to finish off the year strong and ready to keep working into next year.”

Longtime partners, J.F. Electric and Utilitra, will continue to support Mills’ efforts in 2025 as they have done for the past several years. The two companies’ involvements will include a full 25-race primary sponsorship – one of only a handful of such partnerships of that caliber in the Truck Series. Their support acts as a pillar of the race team’s success.

“We are excited about returning for the 2025 NASCAR Truck Series with Matt Mills and Niece Motorsports in the No. 42 truck,” said Greg Fowler, CEO & Chairman of the Board for J.F. Electric. “Although we have been supporting Matt for many years, mainly in the Xfinity Series, this year was our first full season commitment with him and Niece Motorsports. We chose to work with Niece Motorsports this season based on their past performance and based on their GM, Cody Efaw, who we felt could help Matt the most on his journey to move up the ladder within NASCAR.”

“I have known Matt personally for many years and know how hard he works and how dedicated he is to be the best he can every time he gets behind the wheel. We are looking forward to the rest of this season and have high hopes for Matt in the 2025 season!”

The 2024 season was viewed as a transitional year for the driver who spent the majority of his career competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Now having a full season of Truck Series racing under his belt, Mills looks to make a run for the Playoffs.

In May, the 27-year-old secured his best-career NCTS finish with a fourth-place showing at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He quickly followed up the result with an eighth-place run at Nashville Superspeedway, and to-date has accounted for a total of four top-15 finishes.

Niece Motorsports General Manager, Cody Efaw, has been pleased to see the growth out of Mills in his first year with the team. He anticipates 2025 to be a big step forward as he returns to the tracks raced this year.

“Matt has been a great add to our team this year,” said Efaw. “Even though he’s been racing in NASCAR for a long time, he entered this season with a fresh mindset. The Truck Series is a completely different animal compared to what he’s been used to racing, and he’ll be the first to tell you how much he’s learned. He knows the feel he needs out of his truck now, and I think we’ll have a chance to go out there and have a great year with him.”

“Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of great partners,” Efaw continued. “I’ve spent a lot of time with Greg Fowler and the entire J.F. Electric / Utilitra family, and they have been great to everyone at the team. Matt has done a great job off the track maintaining their relationship, and I know they’re excited to see him go out and try and get his first win.”

NASCAR will kick off its CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season opener at the iconic Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 14th. Live coverage of the event will be aired on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Additional team announcements, including the remainder of the driver lineup, partnerships, and personnel will be released as the season progresses. Visit niecemotorsports.com for all the latest news.

Sesh Nicotine Pouches to Sponsor Freedom Racing Enterprises at Kansas Race

Mooresville, NC (September 23, 2024) – NASCAR Driver and team owner Spencer Boyd has announced that Sesh will be the primary sponsor for Freedom Racing Enterprises’ No. 76 truck during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway on September 27, 2024. Sesh is revolutionizing nicotine consumption with its premium, smoke-free nicotine pouches, offering a fresh take on traditional nicotine use through high-quality, Swedish-crafted products.

I’m thrilled to be a part of their journey into the world of motorsports and to showcase a premium, modern alternative to traditional products.”

Sesh is carving a unique path in nicotine alternatives by creating premium pouches that deliver a discreet, flavorful and long-lasting experience without all the smoke. Sesh’s mission is simple: offer current nicotine consumers alternative products that prioritize taste, quality, and user satisfaction.

“NASCAR is all about speed, precision, and performance – qualities that align perfectly with Sesh’s mission to deliver the ultimate nicotine experience,” said Sesh Products CMO Josh Metz. “Our smoke-free pouches offer the same innovation and reliability that NASCAR fans expect from the sport. The partnership with Sesh comes as Boyd returns to Kansas Speedway for the second time this season, a track where he has previously raced in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoff Race at Kansas Speedway is set for Friday, September 27, 2024, at 7:30 PM CT, and will be broadcast live on FS1.

  • Lane Riggs earns second Truck Series victory by racing to UNOH 200 title at Bristol Motor Speedway

Lane Riggs earns second Truck Series victory by racing to UNOH 200 title at Bristol Motor Speedway

BRISTOL, Tenn.—Layne Riggs relished his role as spoiler so much that he returned for an encore Thursday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Riggs isn’t competing for the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series championship, but that didn’t prevent him from winning the Playoff opener Aug. 25 at the Milwaukee Mile.

On Thursday, Riggs passed runner-up Corey Heim for the lead on Lap 121 of 200 in the UNOH 200 Presented by Ohio Logistics and held it the rest of the way to score his second career victory and his fourth straight top five.

“Oh, my gosh, we’ve just learned so much with the trucks,” said the driver of the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford. “My team, Dylan (Cappello), he’s bad-ass…

“To be running fifth, 10th and all of a sudden to go back-to-back in the Playoffs—man, I wish I was in the Playoffs so bad. I think we’d be a real threat to win the championship.”

Heim had to settle for second place, but there was a silver lining for the driver of the No. 11 TRICON Garage Toyota. Heim scored enough points on Thursday to advance to Round of 8, as did fourth-place finisher Christian Eckes and fifth-place Nick Sanchez.

“Every time we got a heat cycle on the tires, it seemed like we got tighter and tighter,” said Heim, who fell one spot short in his defense of last year’s victory at Thunder Valley. “Just didn’t quite have it, but solid points day in the Playoffs—that’s what you need, so I will keep moving forward…

“I’m looking forward to my favorite place (Kansas Speedway) next week.”

Heim won a drag race for the runner-up spot over Rajah Caruth, who elevated his standing in the Playoffs with a win in the first stage and a solid run the rest of the way.

Caruth vaulted from 10th to fifth in the standings with the third-place run and now stands 35 points above the current cut line with next Friday’s elimination race at Kansas left to determine which eight drivers advance to the next round.

“We executed the race—just two spots short,” said Caruth, who glanced toward Riggs’ truck doing celebratory burnouts on the frontstretch. “Man, I wish that was us,” Caruth added wistfully.

Reigning series champion Ben Rhodes fought an ill-handling truck and finished 27th, two laps down, and fell to 10th in the standings, 12 points behind Grant Enfinger in eighth.

Daniel Dye tangled with Kaden Honeycutt on the frontstretch on Lap 157 and finished 37th, six laps down. Dye heads for Kansas seven points behind Enfinger.

Eighteen-year-old Sprint Car star Corey Day finished 18th in his Truck Series debut. After winning his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut last Saturday at Watkins Glen, polesitter Connor Zilisch spun in Turn 4 on Lap 109 and came home 19th.

Matt Crafton ran sixth, followed by Chase Purdy and Playoff driver Ty Majeski, who started from the rear after his team made unapproved adjustments to the No. 98 Ford. Stewart Friesen and Playoff driver Tyler Ankrum completed the top 10.

William Sawalich raced to the win in the Bush’s Beans 200 ARCA Menards Series race and in the process claimed his second ARCA Menards East Series title. It was Sawalich’s second straight Bristol Motor Speedway victory.

Sawalich powered past his challengers at the controls of his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing machine to take the checkered flag in front of Landen Lewis, Lavar Scott, Andres Perez and Dean Thompson.

Connor Zilisch, who entered the race as the ARCA East points leader got caught up in a crash early in the race and it ended his championship chances. His No. 28 machine collided with Logan Misuraca’s No. 9 Chevy, which spun out and hit the wall. As her car drifted back down track, Zilich’s machine slammed into it at full speed. The damage to Zilisch’s car was too much to overcome. Zilisch finished 26th and dropped to second in the East standings.

Other notable finishers included heralded dirt track racer Corey Day, who finished seventh and former Indy Car racer Marco Andretti, who finished 22nd.

LAYNE RIGGS CONTINUES HOT STREAK WITH SECOND STRAIGHT VICTORY

    • Layne Riggs drove his No. 38 Love’s Travel Stops Ford F-150 to his second straight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory tonight at Bristol Motor Speedway.
    • He’s the second Ford driver to win back-to-back series races this season after Ty Majeski did it at Indianapolis and Richmond.
    • The last time Ford won four straight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races was 2000 when Greg Biffle (3) and Kurt Busch (2) combined to win five straight.

LAYNE RIGGS, No. 38 Love’s Travel Stops Ford F-150 – VICTORY LANE INTERVIEW

YOU WANTED TO BE A PLAYOFF SPOILER AND THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE DOING. WHAT DO YOU ATTRIBUTE THIS BREAKOUT TO? “We have just learned so much with the trucks and my team. Dillon, my crew chief, he’s bad ass. He works so hard at night and we as a team, we’re a young team. I think the average age is in the twenties, so it’s so amazing. To be running fifth, 10th and then all of a sudden go back-to-back in the playoffs? Man, I wish I was in the playoffs so bad. I think we’d be a real threat to win this championship.”

WHAT DOES YOUR TEAM’S CONVICTION DO FOR YOU AS A DRIVER? “I’m a bad mug. That’s what they said over the radio. I wasn’t scared to throw it against the fence tonight and, man, the track was so fun. I’m so glad they didn’t put the PJ1 on the track. It was so much fun. Even at the very end you could run the bottom or the top and make equal lap times. I know this Cup race on Saturday night is gonna be really awesome. I hope everybody tunes in, but what a shout out to Love’s for being on the truck. You can’t miss the big yellow truck. Xfinity Communications, that’s two in a row. Man, everybody has helped me so much to get here.”

    Unofficial Ford Finishing Order:

    1st – Layne Riggs
    6th – Matt Crafton
    8th – Ty Majeski
    21st – Jake Garcia
    24th – Lawless Alan
    27th – Ben Rhodes
    31st – Mason Maggio
    33rd – Keith McGee
    36th – Conner Jones

TY MAJESKI, No. 98 Road Ranger/Grinds Coffee Pouches Ford F-150 – “We did what we needed to do tonight. Obviously, we fought some adversity. I was proud of the team. When you have a little mishap like that, this is the kind of comeback we needed tonight. It’s what we needed. Of course, we always come to the racetrack wanting to win. We have good, fast Ford F-150s every week. We made the most out of it tonight and did exactly what we needed to do. That will put us in a really comfortable spot going to Kansas and we’ll try to capitalize there and move on to Talladega.”

BEN RHODES, No. 99 Bommarito Automotive Group Ford F-150 – “It was tough from the get-go. The moment we unloaded from the transporter we had some issues in practice. It’s kind of the story with this Next Gen practice. If you have issues, you can’t really fix them. You can only really tune on the truck and we needed more than fine-tuning today. We tried to fix one thing, but it would hurt another so we were kind of stuck in the middle of No man’s land and not really able to fix the truck. That made myself more less comfortable at times. All in all, I wish we had a better outing for this Bommarito Ford F-150, but we’re just gonna have to go get it at Kansas now and work really hard to get our points back. I don’t know where we’re at in points, but I know it’s not good. You kind of do mental math as the race is unfolding and know that you’re losing it, so now we’re in a clutch moment where we have to come through at Kansas.”

MATT CRAFTON, No. 88 Planters/Menards Ford F-150 – “All in all, we made something there at the end. We were OK. On long runs, the first run we were off just a little bit and made some good adjustments on the one pit stop we made and made it better. We still didn’t quite have the longer run speed that we needed, but, all in all, not a terrible night.”

Taylor Gray in solid positioning heading into Kansas

BRISTOL, Tenn. (September 19, 2024) – With a stage win and a second-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway on Thursday evening, Corey Heim has officially clinched his spot in the Truck Series Playoffs Round of 8, regardless of his performance next weekend at Kansas Speedway. His TRICON Garage teammate, Taylor Gray, is also looking good to advance as he sits in seventh – 23 points above the cutline.

William Sawalich also had a day to remember as the 17-year-old claimed his second consecutive ARCA Menards Series East championship with a race win. He followed that performance with a strong run in the Truck race as he battled amongst the top-10 drivers most of the night before finishing 11th.

COREY HEIM, No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 2nd

I know you wanted to get another Bristol win under your belt, but can you talk about this good points day?

“Yeah, congrats to Layne (Riggs). Those guys were on it all night long. Everyone at our TRICON camp did such a good job. They gave me a great Tundra. They had great pit stops – they did their job to keep me out front, just didn’t quite have it when the groove started to move around there. Every time we got a heat cycle on the tires, it felt like it got tighter and tighter. Just didn’t quite have it, but solid points day in the Playoffs – that’s what you need, so I will keep moving forward with TRICON Garage, Toyota Racing, Safelite – huge thank you to all of those guys. I’m looking forward to my favorite place next week.”

WILLIAM SAWALICH, No. 1 Starkey/SoundGear Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 11th

Great day for you – championship and win in the ARCA race and in the top-10 most of the night in the Truck. Can you talk about your day?

“Both races were really good. The ARCA race went in our favor. We had a really fast Starkey, SoundGear Toyota Camry there and led a bunch of laps and had a lot of speed. Lots of restarts so I had plenty of time to work on that, but ultimately ended up with the win and the championship – for the second year in a row, which is really cool. In the Truck race, we had a really fast Starkey, SoundGear Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Really thankful for the TRICON guys for giving me a good truck here tonight. Ran inside the top-10 and had a lot of speed.”

TAYLOR GRAY, No. 17 A Place of Hope Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 12th

12th place finish, can you talk about your race?

“Just not the night we wanted. Our TRICON guys worked really hard. We brought a decent A Place of Hope Toyota Tundra – just needed some different stuff to be able to contend up front. If we had cleaner air and track position, it would have been different. Just struggled being able to get back through traffic and fight for somewhat of a good finish – just looking at good points getting out of here, and putting it behind us.”

How do you feel about Kansas?

“I feel good. In the past, it has been a really good track for the organization. It has been a really good track for me. I’m really excited – it has also been a really good track for Jeff (Hensley, crew chief). Just have to go as execute – unload good, qualify good and be able to run up front.”

Motor Speedway.

From there, he moved into Limited Late Models before graduating to the Carolina Pro Late Model Series division in 2021, where he earned championship-runner-up honors and picked up an astounding victory in the annual Hickory (N.C.) Honeyman, 19, returns to the Mooresville, N.C.-based organization, where he ran an impressive ARCA Menards Series East Series campaign, finishing third in the 2022 championship standings.

During the 2023 season, he made eight NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, highlighted by a 21st-place finish at the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway Road Course.

Leland Honeyman Jr. NASCAR Xfinity Career Stats: Entering Bristol, Honeyman has 33 career NASCAR Xfinity Series races to his credit, earning a career-best fourth-place finish at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway after starting 33rd in the Ag-Pro 300 for Young’s Motorsports in April 2024.

Watkins Glen International | Mission 200 Race Recap: In the 25th race of the 2024 Xfinity Series season, Young’s Motorsports and Honeyman searched for another solid finish in the team’s inaugural Xfinity Series trip to the Finger Lakes of New York for the penultimate road course race of the season at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

Qualifying for the race on his qualifying speed, Honeyman started his No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro from the 32nd position and methodically began patiently working his way through the field.

His time and effort, though, would be detoured after a mid-race spin, which forced the Young’s Motorsports team to take a risk on a strategy that ultimately prevailed for Honeyman to fire back and earn a respectable 16th-place finish at the checkered flag.

The effort marks five top-20 finishes for the Mooresville, N.C.-based team in the last six races, dating back to July at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

    DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:

“I think everyone is still celebrating our Milwaukee win. It’s a true testament to how hard Dylan (Cappello) and the No. 38 team works. There are still races left on the schedule that I think we have a shot at. Bristol is one of those races. We had a solid 10th-place finish in the spring, but I believe we can improve on that and even get the win.”

    CREW CHIEF DYLAN CAPPELLO:

“We’re all super proud of Layne’s (Riggs) win. It was a special moment for him with it being his first career win, but it also meant a lot to me as it was my first win as a crew chief. We want to do it again and I can see Bristol being a place where that can happen. The short track style of racing is right up Layne’s alley. I think it’s going to be a good night for us.”

Austin Cindric – 3rd (+43 above the cut line)
    Ryan Blaney – 8th (+29)

    FORD’S SECOND HALF HOT STREAK

Ever since Joey Logano won the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race in May, Ford has been on a roll. The Blue Oval has won nine times in the last 16 races, including the current four-race streak that has seen Harrison Burton (Daytona), Chase Briscoe (Darlington), Logano (Atlanta) and Chris Buescher (Watkins Glen) all find Victory Lane. The last time Ford won at least four in a row was in 2018 when Kevin Harvick (Michigan), Kurt Busch (Bristol) and Brad Keselowski (Darlington, Indianapolis and Las Vegas) combined to win five straight.

    MOVING ON UP

This current four-race winning streak has also helped Ford move into second-place in the NASCAR Cup Series manufacturer standings, three points ahead of Toyota with eight races to go. In addition, the Blue Oval now has the second-most victories on the season with nine and trails Chevrolet by only two for the top spot.

    FORD TIES MARK

    WITH SEVENTH DIFFERENT WINNER

Chris Buescher’s win on Sunday at Watkins Glen International gave Ford its ninth points win of the season and the seventh different driver to reach Victory Lane. That ties the Ford season record for most different drivers to win a race in the modern era (1972-Present). The last time it happened came in 2018, and overall it’s happened four times.

FORD WINNERS IN 2024: Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Austin Cindric, Harrison Burton, Chase Briscoe and Chris Buescher.

FORD WINNERS IN 2018: Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney and Aric Almirola.

FORD WINNERS IN 1997: Rusty Wallace, Dale Jarrett, Jeff Burton, Mark Martin, Ricky Rudd, John Andretti, and Ernie Irvan.

FORD WINNERS IN 1994: Rusty Wallace, Ernie Irvan, Jimmy Spencer, Ricky Rudd, Geoff Bodine, Mark Martin and Bill Elliott.

    THE LAST TIME

The last time Ford won the first two playoff races in the same season was in 2020 when Kevin Harvick (Darlington), Brad Keselowski (Richmond) and Harvick (Bristol) combined to win the first three postseason events. Ford went on to win four races during that season, but the most playoff wins by the Blue Oval came in 2018 with six.

    FORD PLAYOFF DRIVERS AT BRISTOL

    Joey Logano: 28 starts, 2 wins, 6 top-10, 10 top-10

    Brad Keselowski: 26 starts, 3 wins, 7 top-5, 10 top-10

    Ryan Blaney: 15 starts, 0 wins, 2 top-5, 5 top-10

    Chase Briscoe: 4 starts, 0 wins, 0 top-5, 0 top-10

    Austin Cindric: 3 starts, 0 wins, 0 top-5, 0 top-10

    Harrison Burton: 3 starts, 0 wins, 0 top-5, 0 top-10

RYAN BLANEY: “I have no idea how it will be. I don’t know if it is going to be the same as the first race or not. I don’t think it will be the same even if we are in the same situation because teams are going to learn and take camber out and be smarter with tire wear. I don’t know what to expect really. I just hope I don’t blow a tire. It is going to be a little cooler, so I won’t sweat as much in the car, which I like. The race there in the spring, I am back and forth on. I thought it was really cool and great that you have these tires that wear out crazy, I just wish we would have known it ahead of time. As a driver and a part of the race team, that unknown of having no idea what is to be expected throws everybody for a loop. I would like a little bit more experience with that. Is that what NASCAR and people want? Probably not. The best moments are when it is unexpected. To some extent I would like to kind of half way know what is going on. I thought it was good and the tire fall-off was great but you’ve got to get more than 50 laps on it before you blow a tire. You have a fine line there. We will see what happens.”

HARRISON BURTON: “Bristol is super fun. It is a place you can drive the car super hard and now you don’t really know what Bristol you are going to get. Are you going to get the tire fall-off with the major tire failures almost or are you going to get to drive it as hard as you can every lap? Those are two very different mindsets. Preparing for that is tough because you have to kind of prepare for two different races, but Bristol is one of my favorite race tracks and I love going there.”

    LOGANO WINS BACK-TO-BACK NIGHT RACES

Joey Logano held off a hard-charging Kevin Harvick over the final 25 laps to win the Bristol Night Race for the second consecutive year in 2015. Logano led four times for 176 laps, including all but four of the final 147 laps and that was because he pitted when the caution came out with 71 laps to go while Penske teammate Brad Keselowski opted to stay out for track position. Even though Keselowski had the lead on the ensuing restart, Logano’s four fresh tires enabled him to get the lead immediately and he held on over the final 64 circuits to post his 11th career victory.

    A THREE SERIES SWEEP

One of the most memorable Ford weekends at Bristol came in August of 2014 when Ford swept all three NASCAR series races – Craftsman Truck, Xfinity and Cup. Brad Keselowski captured his first NCTS victory while Ryan Blaney took the Xfinity event. Joey Logano capped the weekend sweep when he passed Matt Kenseth with 45 laps to go and then had to hold off Keselowski to post his third win of the 2014 season. Logano was in control until caution came out with 69 laps to go. While he pitted for four tires, Kenseth and others stayed out which put Logano sixth on the ensuing restart with 63 to go. With fresh tires, however, he was able to move to the front in less than 20 laps and then hold off his Penske teammate down the stretch. It marked the first time Ford swept all three divisions in the same weekend since 2006 when Mark Martin (NCTS) and Kenseth (NXS and NCS) did it, ironically, at Bristol.

    FINAL REGULAR SEASON RACE

The final regular season race for the NASCAR Xfinity Series is set for Friday night with two Ford drivers already assured of competing in the postseason. Cole Custer will get the opportunity to defend his championship from last year after winning earlier this year at Pocono Raceway while Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Riley Herbst owns a berth because of his victory in Indianapolis. Ryan Sieg goes into this weekend’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway 43 points below the cut line, but a win would automatically put him in the 12-driver field.

FORD GOING FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has been on a three-week break, but will return to action on Thursday night at Bristol Motor Speedway for the second playoff race in the Round of 10. Ford goes into the event having won three straight after Ty Majeski captured victories at Indianapolis Raceway Park and Richmond Raceway while Layne Riggs took his first career win at the Milwaukee Mile. Majeski enters the race second in the standings, 44 points above the cut line while defending series champion Ben Rhodes is on the bubble, sitting two points below the final transfer position.
