The Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism Sponsors Autistic Driver for NASCAR Truck Series Race at Texas Motor Speedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: Armani Williams, the first NASCAR Truck Series driver openly diagnosed on the autism spectrum will return to competition in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway with Reaume Brothers Racing attempting to qualify for Friday night’s SpeedyCash.com 220.

Williams, a native of Detroit, Michigan impressed in his series debut at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway last August finishing a respectable 21st and earning his speedway license in NASCAR competition.

“I’m incredibly grateful for this next chapter in my NASCAR career by making my Truck Series debut at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend,” said Williams. “We have been diligently working hard on sponsorship to run as many Truck Series races as we can this season and I’m thrilled to have a few races locked down with some terrific partners.”

To kick off his limited NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule in 2022 in the Lone Star state, Williams will be joined by co-partners The Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism Inc and IceCOLD Technology.

Former NFL Quarterback, Doug Flutie, and his wife Laurie started The Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism Inc. in 1998 after their son, Dougie, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Their personal experience of raising a son on the autism spectrum inspired them to help others on an equally long and challenging journey.

Over its 24-year history, the Flutie Foundation has distributed over $15 million to schools and organizations who provide clinical therapies, respite services, recreational programs, social skills training, job support and more for people affected by autism.

The Flutie Foundation also provides education technology tools, adaptive camp scholarships, safety equipment, and direct family support through its partnerships and special initiatives.

“We are pleased to partner with Armani Williams to support his career goals and passions through the Flutie Fellow ambassadorship program as he competes professionally in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series,” said Doug Flutie, Co-Founder of the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.

“It’s our goal at the Flutie Foundation to create a world where people with autism are included, respected, and engaged in their communities. Armani is living proof of what people with autism can accomplish.

“We are ecstatic to support Armani’s budding career dreams while partnering with him as he advocates for inclusive opportunities for his peers with autism.”

Alongside The Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism Inc. will be IceCOLD Technology.

IceCOLD Technology LLC. is the manufacturer of the IceCOLD® synthetic catalyst, an environmentally friendly green energy efficiency product for all types of HVAC and refrigeration in residential, commercial and industrial applications.

For more than 20 years the IceCOLD product has increased efficiency and reduced the energy consumption of cooling equipment, lowered carbon emissions, reduced equipment maintenance, extended equipment life, and saved money.

“IceCOLD Technology is excited and proud to support and sponsor Armani Williams as a NASCAR driver,” offered IceCOLD Technology president Don Bryan. “Armani’s strong values, positive attitude, and confident determination are what make him an inspiration and a true champion.

“Nothing can stop Armani from being successful in life or on the track and we are honored to partner with him and watch him prove it.”

The continued partnership with Reaume and the placement of the new partners were orchestrated by fgrACCEL, a full-service sports marketing and management agency.

Additional races for Williams with Reaume Brothers Racing are expected this season.

“There are a lot of people that have worked tirelessly in order for me to continue my dream and I’m so thankful,” sounded Williams. “Right now, I have three opportunities with instrumental marketing partners who want to see me succeed on the race track while assisting them in building their respective brands.

“I am spending every waking moment making sure I am prepared to do my part behind the wheel. Whether that is iRacing, studying pictures, reviewing film or just talking to others in the industry. It’s my job to go out there and give my team and partners a finish they would be proud of and that’s exactly what I plan to do.”

Josh Reaume, team principal at Reaume Brothers Racing offered, “Armani is a dedicated young driver and being a part of opportunities such as this is what gets us excited at Reaume Brothers Racing!”

Williams, 22, graduated to the Truck Series after stints in the premier ARCA Menards Series, ARCA Menards Series East, ARCA Menards Series West and the Canadian-based NASCAR Pinty’s Series.

From Texas Motor Speedway, Williams will trek to the Pocono Mountains and tackle the 2.5-mile triangle of Pocono (Pa.) Raceway in the CRC Brakleen 150 on July 23.

Boyd, however, managed to stay out of trouble and collect a 31st place finish.

To The Point(s): Entering Texas, Boyd sits 22nd in the championship standings.

63 points separate Boyd from 15th in the championship standings currently held by Matt DiBenedetto with 15 races remaining this season.

Truck Series Rundown: In five years of Truck Series competition, Boyd has 74 career Truck Series starts with one win, two top-five and three top-10 finishes and a championship best of 17th in 2019 and carries an average finish of 22.8.

This weekend marks his fourth race as crew chief at the track nestled in No Limits, Texas.

    Date/Broadcast: May 20, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR 90

    Nemechek #Back4More in 2022:

Defending race winner John Hunter Nemechek and the No. 4 team turn their focus to Texas Motor Speedway for Friday’s SpeedyCash.com 220. In last week’s Heart of America 200 at Kansas speedway, Nemechek brought home a sixth-place finish, marking the fifth straight race that he has finished sixth or better. In that five-race span, the talented wheelman has moved up three spots in the Championship Standings to second and has cut his deficit down to 20 points behind reigning champion Ben Rhodes.

In NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition at Texas, Nemechek has six starts. Through his first six starts, Nemechek has compiled one win, 73 laps led, one top-five and two top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 12.8. In 2021, Nemechek started from the pole and led a race-high 64 laps in route to his fourth win of the season. The talented wheelman was also victorious in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas last October, leading a race-high 92 laps behind the wheel of Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 54 Camry en route to his second career series victory. Across four career Xfinity Series starts at the 1.5-mile quad-oval he has one win, 98 laps led, three top-five and four top-10 finishes. In two NASCAR Cup Series starts at Texas, Nemechek has an average finish of 21.7 and earned a best finish of 21st in the 2019 fall event.

Through the first eight races of 2022, Nemechek leads all Camping World Truck Series regulars in average starting position (6.4) and average running position (6.603), is tied for second in top-five finishes (four), and is third in stage wins (three), laps led (157), and driver rating (105.2). Nemechek has also led at least one lap in six out of the first eight events.

Tom Thumb/Albertsons will make their first start in the Camping World Truck Series onboard Nemechek’s No. 4 Tundra TRD Pro at Texas. Albertson Companies is one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States, with over 2,200 stores in 34 states and are committed to making a meaningful difference, one neighborhood at a time.

Nemechek is a 12-time winner in Camping World Truck Series action, winning at least one race each season from 2015 to 2018 for his family-owned team, NEMCO Motorsports, and returning to victory lane in 2021 with KBM. Across 132 career starts in NASCAR’s third division, he has compiled five poles, 1,338 laps led, 44 top-five and 71 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 12.5.

Eric Phillips returned to lead the No. 4 team in 2022. His 42 career Truck Series victories make him the winningest crew chief in Truck Series history, with 34 of those coming while at KBM including five last year. Phillips led the No. 18 team at KBM in its debut season in 2010 and helped build the organization into one of the premier teams in all of NASCAR before departing at the end of the 2014 season. Under his guidance, the No. 18 team won eight races in its inaugural campaign and became the first team in Truck Series history to capture an owner’s championship in its first season of competition. In 2014, the Illinois native led the No. 51 team to an owner’s championship and his team’s 10 wins spearheaded KBM to a single-season Truck Series record of 14 wins. Phillip’s has been calling the shots for 20 starts at Texas. In those 20 starts, his drivers have tallied four wins (Clint Bowyer – 2006, Kyle Busch – 2011 & 2014, and John Hunter Nemechek – 2021), 340 laps led, seven top-five, and 12 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 11.4.

    John Hunter Nemechek, Driver Q&A:
We are halfway through the regular season; how would you grade your season so far?
“Feel like we are in a decent spot. We don’t have as many wins as last year, but we’re headed in the right direction as the season has progressed.”

You won both the Truck Series and Xfinity Series race at Texas last year; how much confidence does that give you going into Friday’s race?
“I like Texas and have had a lot of success there. It will be different this year being a night race, last year they were both day races but it’s a racetrack I’ve always enjoyed going to. We’re hoping to be able to go back-to-back at Texas in the trucks and get the second win of the year.”

How does Texas compare to the other mile-and-a-half tracks on the schedule this year?
“It’s completely different with the repave. The corners are different from one another, Turns 1 and 2 are flat and super wide while Turns 3 and 4 have more banking and it’s a tighter corner. We don’t race there anymore but the track I would compare it to would be Kentucky.”

    • Chassis History/Info: Grant Enfinger will drive GMS Racing chassis no. 329 in the Lone Star state. This specific Silverado RST was built in 2020 and has a best finish of third place at Richmond Raceway driven by Tyler Ankrum. Most recently, Grant raced this truck at Martinsville where he earned his first top-10 finish of the season. This weekend will be the first time that the chassis has raced at Texas Motor Speedway. - Hot Streak: A third place run at Kansas Speedway marked five consecutive races that Grant Enfinger has earned a top-10 finish in. Both driver and crew are hitting their stride eight races into the 2022 campaign, and continue to close in on their nearest competition in points. Texas has historically been a very successful track for GMS Racing, with the team earning five wins at the facility, so an opportunity for Enfinger to pull off his first win of the season is very possible on Friday night.
    • Driver Appearances: Fans attending the SpeedyCash.com 220 will have two opportunities to meet Grant Enfinger, as he will join the NASCAR Trackside Live stage from 5:15 PM for a Q&A session, followed up by another Q&A and autograph session at the Team Chevy stage at 5:30 PM local time in the Texas Motor Speedway fan zone. - GE Quote: “Our No. 23 team has been doing great at the shop and on pit road. I think the race in Texas will be a great opportunity for our team to shine, especially after seeing what we have learned over the last couple weeks. In the past, this track has really suited my driving style, but we haven’t been able to pull off that win yet, so I’m hungry for one here. If we are able to unload quickly and stay ahead of the racetrack, I think we can contend all night with our Champion Power Equipment Chevy.”

Wood is the most recent driver to race this truck at Martinsville earlier this year, and both will make their debut start at the Texas intermediate track on Friday.
    • Sunoco ROTY Update: Following a 26th place finish at Kansas Speedway, Jack Wood lost some ground to Sunoco Rookie Of The Year point leader Lawless Alan, but remains in third place in the rookie standings. Entering Friday night’s race in Fort Worth, Wood is slotted only nine points behind second place and 27 points out of the lead.
    • Driver Appearances: Fans attending the SpeedyCash.com 220 will have two opportunities to meet Jack Wood, as he will join the NASCAR Trackside Live stage from 5:15 PM for a Q&A session, followed up by another Q&A and autograph session at the Team Chevy stage at 5:30 PM local time in the Texas Motor Speedway fan zone.
    • JW Quote: “I’m excited to race at Texas for the first time this weekend with my GMS Racing guys. I’ve never been there in any type of car before, but I’ve spoke with a lot of drivers and they agree that this track is one of their favorite places to race at. Last year here, the No. 24 Chevy ran up front all race and finished second with Chase Elliott, so I believe that there is a good opportunity for our team to back it up with another strong run. We are bringing really fast Silverado RSTs to the racetrack week in and week out, so if we are able to put a full race together, the good finishes will come naturally.”

Chandler Smith – No. 18 iBUYPOWER Tundra TRD Pro Camping World Trucks Texas Preview

Chandler Smith: Driver, No. 18 iBUYPOWER Toyota

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Overview:
    Event: SpeedyCash.com 220, Race 9 of 23, 147 Laps –35/35/77; 220.5 Miles
Location: Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth (1.5-mile quad-oval)
    Date/Broadcast: May 20, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR 90

    Mr. Smith Heads to Texas:

Chandler Smith and the No. 18 team head to Texas Motor Speedway for Friday’s SpeedyCash.com 220 fresh off a hard-earned fourth-place finish at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City on Saturday. The team encountered a fuel pickup issue after finishing fourth in the opening stage and was forced to coast to pit road. The team would get his Tundra TRD Pro re-fired but lost a lap in the process. After getting the “Lucky Dog” at the end of Stage Two, Smith would charge back through the field in the Final Stage to bring home a fourth-place finish.

iBUYPOWER will serve as the primary sponsor on Smith’s No. 18 Tundra TRD Pro at Texas Friday and again at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in October. Since 1999, iBUYPOWER has been delivering on its promise to build the best gaming systems for the most discerning gamers. Friday’s race will be the fifth event for iBUYPOWER sponsoring Smith’s KBM entry since 2019. Smith has finished inside the top five in all four of those races, including a runner-up finish at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in 2019.

Smith has two prior Truck Series starts at Texas with a best result of fifth coming last June. The Toyota Racing Development driver has been stellar on three mile-and-a-half track starts in 2022, winning at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway and finishing fourth at both Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway.

After seven races Smith sits fourth in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular season point standings, 29 tallies behind reigning series champion Ben Rhodes. Through the first eight events of the season Smith ranks second among Truck Series regulars in average starting position (7.8) and average finish (10.1), fourth in average running position (8.704) and driver rating (100.9) and fifth in laps led (56). He has produced one win, four top-five and five top-10 finishes in his sophomore campaign.

The Georgia driver earned NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year honors in 2021 and finished eighth in the championship standings after producing two victories, one pole, 213 laps led, six top-five and nine top-10 finishes in his first full-time season. He earned his first career Truck Series victory at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in September and in the series finale at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway earned his first career pole and swept all three stages en route to his second victory.

In addition to his Truck Series schedule in 2022, Smith is competing in a three-race schedule with Sam Hunt Racing (SHR). Smith finished 38th in his series debut at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway after a mid-race wreck and finished 21st at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway. His final race with SHR will come Oct. 22 at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.

Veteran crew chief Danny Stockman will once again call the shots for Smith and the No. 18 team in 2022. Stockman’s drivers have produced six victories at KBM across his first two seasons, including two with Smith behind the wheel in 2021. The veteran crew chief captured a Truck Series championship with Austin Dillon in 2011 and also won an Xfinity Series championship with Dillon in 2013. Stockman’s drivers have produced one win, four top-five and four top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 11.9 across seven Truck Series starts at Texas. He was victorious with KBM owner-driver Kyle Busch in July of 2020. Additionally, his Xfinity Series drivers produced five top-five and eight top-10 finishes across 11 starts.

    Chandler Smith, Driver Q&A:

We are halfway through the regular season. Assess your season so far.
“For the most part it has been really, really, good. It’s definitely been a lot better than the first half of the last season we had, which is really big for us. Going into the season we said we had a lot of momentum, we just won Phoenix and we need to start on a high note and keep that trend going all the way to the playoffs. That was our mentality and that is what we’ve been doing for sure. We had a couple of pretty rough races before Kansas, but other than that we’ve been really good every time we’ve showed up at the race track in our Tundra and you can’t ask for more than that, honestly.”

With the success you’ve had already this season on mile-and-a-half tracks are you looking forward to going to Texas?
“Yeah, for sure. I feel like our mile-and-a-half package as a whole and also myself getting the experience that I have at mile-and-a-halves is starting to pay off and starting to show a little bit more as well. Really happy to have iBUYPOWER on the truck this weekend and really looking forward to having our truck just as fast as their gaming PC’s.”

How does Texas compare to the other mile-and-a-half tracks on the Truck Series schedule?
“They all have their similarities for sure. I would say Texas is unique in its own way considering Turns 1 and 2 are completely different than Turns 3 and 4, but you can argue that Kansas and Vegas are the same way. At the end of the day, it’s another mile-and-a-half, there is a lot of on throttle time and that’s the biggest thing about these mile-and-a-halves is there is so much on throttle time and a lot of aerodynamics that go into it. That’s our strong suit and where I feel like I’m starting to excel a little more, so I’m looking forward to it.”

    Chandler Smith Career Highlights:

    • Across 46 career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts has recorded three wins, 362 laps led, 18 top-five and 23 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 14.1.
    • Earned NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year honors in 2021 and finished eighth in the championship standings after producing two victories, one pole, 213 laps led, six top-five and nine top-10 finishes in his first full-time season. He earned his first career Truck Series victory at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in September and in the series finale at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway earned his first career pole and swept all three stages en route to his second victory.

Location: Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth (1.5-mile quad-oval)
    Date/Broadcast: May 20, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR 90

    The Story on Corey:
Corey Heim returns to the No. 51 JBL Tundra TRD Pro for this week’s SpeedyCash.com 220 at Texas Motor Speedway. Friday’s 147-lap event will be the 19-year-old driver’s fifth Truck Series start of 2022 and the eighth of his career. Despite having just seven starts under his belt, the talented teenager already collected his first series win earlier this year at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway. Overall, in seven starts, he has tallied 42 laps led and an average finish of 20.1. Last week at Kansas, Heim led 23 laps and collected his first career Stage Win but was relegated to a 33rd-place finish after making contact with the wall and experiencing subsequent tire issues.

Despite not being slated for a full-time schedule this year, Heim is competing for the 2022 Truck Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year award. Having only competed in four of the eight events this season, he sits fourth in the standings, 30 points behind Lawless Alan. Heim will look to join three other KBM drivers that have won the award, reigning winner Chandler Smith, William Byron (2016) and Erik Jones (2015).

Heim made three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts for KBM in 2021, with a best result of 11th coming at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. Heim had an impressive Truck Series debut at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway last May, where he led two laps, finished Stage Two in the runner-up position and was running second when he got turned from behind on a restart with just under 30 laps remaining. The incident forced him to the garage and ended his night with a disappointing 23rd-place finish.

In addition to his part-time Truck Series schedule Heim is competing in a six-race schedule for Venturini Motorsports in the ARCA Menards Series. Heim led 74 of 90 laps en route to the victory at Daytona in February to pick up his eighth career ARCA Menards Series victory. Most recently, Heim led 56 of the first 57 laps last Saturday at Kansas before getting taken out in an accident on a restart and being relegated to a 16th-place finish. Across 39 career ARCA Menards Series starts he has produced 644 laps led, 28 top-five and 37 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 4.4. Heim finished second to Ty Gibbs in the 2021 ARCA Menards Series championship standings.

Mardy Lindley returns to KBM for his second season atop the pit box of the No. 51 team. In addition to this year’s with Heim, the No. 51 team produced three victories in Lindley’s first season as a crew chief at KBM, two with owner-driver Kyle Busch and one with Martin Truex Jr. Before arriving at KBM, Lindley guided his drivers to 32 wins and four ARCA Menards Series East championships since 2013, including back-to-back titles with Sam Mayer the last two seasons. Additionally, he earned the ARCA Menards Series Sioux Chief Showdown championship with Mayer in 2020. Behind the wheel, the second-generation driver won 11 races on the Pro Cup Series from 2000 to 2006 and was crowned the series champion in 2001. In his lone Truck Series race at Texas, he finished 33rd with Drew Dollar last June.

JBL, the authority in engineering superior sound, returns to KBM for an eighth season and will be the primary sponsor on Heim’s Toyota for 10 races this season including Friday’s race at Texas. Crescent Tools, a premier hand tool brand from Apex Tool Group, will serve as a primary sponsor for four of Heim’s races, beginning July 29 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis (Ind.) Raceway Park.

    Corey Heim, Driver Q&A:

This will be your first time racing at Texas in any series, how do you prepare for a new track?
“It’s definitely tough, I’ve had to prepare for a new track several times last year and have been to some new tracks again this year. Texas is definitely pretty unique — it got repaved I believe four or five years ago — and it’s definitely a little bit different than your average mile-and-a-half racetrack. KBM has had a lot of success there in the past, so I’m confident they are going to bring me a really good JBL Tundra TRD Pro there.”

Will you lean on your teammates that have raced at Texas before to help speed up your learning curve?
“For sure, John Hunter had a ton off success there last year – he won the truck race I believe and the Xfinity Series race, so I’ll be able to lean on him. Chandler (Smith) has been there a couple times as well and has had a lot of speed and Kyle (Busch) has had a lot of success there in the past. Being a part of this organization at KBM and being able to lean on so many people that have had success at certain race tracks, especially Texas coming this weekend is definitely key.”

Despite not having the result to show for it, can you take some positives out of the speed you showed at Kansas last week?
“For sure, we had so much speed in the first two stages. I felt like we were the best truck in the first two stages on the long run. So, setting up for that last stage of somewhere near 100 laps, I thought it was going to stay green and we were going to have a really good truck on the long run and hopefully take back the lead, but we didn’t have things go our way. This year has been a really up-and-down year as far as how we have been finishing races. Unfortunately, it’s been more on the downside for sure, but this weekend at Texas we are going to have a really fast truck and I’m looking forward to it.”
