    Riley Herbst Notes of Interest

    • Riley Herbst comes into the Mahindra ROXOR 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race Saturday at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway riding a wave of front-running consistency. The driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing has finished among the top-10 in his last four races, giving Herbst a total of seven top-10 finishes in the 10 races run this season. Now in his third full year of Xfinity Series racing, it’s his best start to a season. He is currently ninth in the championship standings, bettering his 2020 standing after 10 races (11th) and his 2021 standing after 10 races (15th.)

    • There’s no rest for the weary in NASCAR as the Xfinity Series goes from one tough track with a scary-sounding nickname to another challenging racetrack with a foreboding moniker. Last week, the Xfinity Series raced at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway, better known as the “Monster Mile”. Now, it’s on to Darlington, the track known as “Too Tough To Tame”. Herbst muzzled the Monster Mile with a solid, ninth-place drive and he aims to tame Darlington with another level-headed performance on Saturday.

    • The Mahindra ROXOR 200 will mark Herbst’s 87th career Xfinity Series start and his fifth at Darlington. His best finish on the 1.366-mile, egg-shaped oval is fourth in September 2020. That result is one of 12 top-fives and 41 top-10s Herbst has earned in his Xfinity Series career. His best Xfinity Series finish is second, earned twice – in February 2020 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, and July 2020 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta.

    • While still seeking his first Xfinity Series win, Herbst is driving for an Xfinity Series winner at Darlington. Stewart-Haas Racing owns two Xfinity Series victories at Darlington – August 2019 with Cole Custer and May 2020 with Chase Briscoe.

Riley Herbst, Driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang

You’ve scored seven top-10s in the 10 races held this season and the team is currently on a four-race top-10 streak. What are your goals as the Xfinity Series heads into its summer stretch?

“The goal is simple – we need to keep being consistent. The No. 98 Monster Energy team has been working hard and we’re getting better. I think if we can keep performing well in both qualifying and the race, we can put our Ford Mustang in victory lane. These past two weeks, we’ve had a glimpse of chances to win, and we need to keep having those. Our win is coming.”

Darlington is known as the track “Too Tough To Tame”. What are your expectations for Saturday’s race?

“Darlington’s such a cool, historic racetrack, but it’s tough. It’s been a bit of a wild card for me, but I did run well there back in 2020. I have never had practice at Darlington, so I feel like that didn’t help my situation prior to this year. Everything I learned was what I experienced during the races. The No. 98 team knows how to win there. Hoping we can get it done.”

What have you done this year to help prepare for Darlington?

“Darlington definitely wasn’t my best track last year. We struggled to find speed there and then got caught up in a wreck in September. Those situations didn’t produce the outcomes we were hoping for. I’ve been going to the simulator, working with the No. 98 team, and just re-watching footage to try and learn how to tackle this racetrack. Hopefully, all the hard work will pay off on Saturday.”

Myatt Snider To Honor Ken Schrader During Darlington Throwback Weekend

STATESVILLE, N.C. (May 4, 2021) – Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport (JAR) has unveiled Charlotte (N.C.) driver Myatt Snider’s NASCAR Xfinty Series (NXS) paint scheme for the upcoming official throwback weekend of NASCAR at Darlington Raceway (S.C), May 6-7.

During the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) Mahindra ROXOR 200 on Saturday, May 7, Snider’s No. 31 Capital City Towing Chevrolet Camaro SS will be a throwback to Ken Schrader’s Junie Donlavey owned No. 90 that qualified on the pole for the TranSouth 500 at Darlington Raceway 1987.

“Throwback weekend at my home track of Darlington is one that we circle on the calendar every year. It’s a great way to honor NASCAR’s past that has left a mark on the sport for where we are today” stated JAR President, Jordan Anderson.

“This year when selecting a paint scheme, I wanted to incorporate the State of South Carolina and the State of Missouri into something special. We have Joel Black’s Columbia (S.C.) based Capital City Towing as the primary on the car this weekend along with their traditional red, white, and black colors. The state of Missouri, the home of Bommarito Automotive Group, has produced some great NASCAR drivers over the years and one that we wanted to honor is Ken Schrader. With Schrader being from Fenton, Mo. just minutes from where the Bommarito family got their start, it was a simple decision to narrow it down to Schrader’s iconic No. 90 Red Barron scheme that qualified on the pole at Darlington and finished fifth in the Spring of 1987.”

Fast forward to 2022, featured on the hood, sides, and tv panel of the bright red, white, black No. 31 is family owned and operated Capital City Towing.

As a longtime partner of Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport, Capital City Towing has offered heavy-duty towing, off-road recovery, roadside assistance, cargo/equipment hauling and garage service to Columbia, South Carolina and the surrounding areas for years.

    Driver Quotes

“It’s going to be different this weekend without Taylor (Moyer, crew chief) in my ear but he’s done a great job of making sure this team is ready. As tough as it’s going to be, he’s surrounded himself with the right people that are capable of leading this No. 1 Accelerate Pros team to victory. Hopefully we can make Rick Mast proud and put this car where it belongs.” – Sam Mayer

“I can’t wait to get to Darlington this weekend. We have an awesome throwback design for our Hellmann’s Chevrolet and hopefully we can replicate the same kind of success we had last year and get back into Victory Lane. I know this team is capable of doing it and I’m ready to get down there and make it happen.” – Justin Allgaier

“Getting a win last weekend in Dover was huge and this Tire Pros team deserved every bit of it, but we still have work to do. Darlington is a track I really enjoy because of the surface and how the tires wear out pretty quickly. The car we are throwing back to was in Victory Lane back in 2002 with Dale Jr., so hopefully we can do the same this weekend.” – Josh Berry

“Darlington has been a track that this Bass Pro Shops/TrueTimber/Black Rifle Coffee team has been really fast at in the past and we proved that last year with the win. Luke (Lambert) and this entire team are working hard to make sure we unload with that same speed and hopefully we can be there battling for the win at the end of the day.” – Noah Gragson

“I’m excited to get back behind the wheel of a JRM Chevy this weekend. It’s been fun to continue running races for them over the years after having so much success there during my Xfinity Series career. We actually won Darlington during my rookie season at JRM, so it would be pretty cool to get back to victory lane on Saturday.” – Chase Elliott

Andy’s will also bring back the AJ AlmondDinger treat for a limited time.

“I’m excited to have Andy’s Frozen Custard back with us for a second-straight year,” said Allmendinger. “Having them onboard our No. 16 Chevrolet last year, as well as having a flavor of custard named after me, was awesome. Now being able to do it again this year for the All-Star race makes this relationship even more special.”

Last year in only its first, limited schedule NCS season, Kaulig Racing won the Verizon 250 at The Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Allmendinger, making them eligible to compete in this year’s All-Star race.

“We’re pumped to be able to compete in the NASCAR All-Star race in just our first, full season in the Cup Series,” said Kaulig Racing team owner, Matt Kaulig. “Winning a Cup race as a young team and being eligible for the All-Star race is truly and honor and having Andy’s team up with us for this race makes it even more special.”

Kaulig Racing and Andy’s partnership will kick off at the NASCAR All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway on May 22 and conclude at the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 on September 24.

Josh Berry leads strong JR Motorsports performance in A-GAME 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series Dash 4 Cash race at Dover Motor Speedway

DOVER, Del. (April 30, 2022) – On a banner day for JR Motorsports, Josh Berry’s flag flew the highest at the right time.

Grabbing the lead off pit road following a late caution, Berry led the race’s final 55 laps and held off hard-charging teammate Justin Allgaier to win the A-GAME 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series Dash 4 Cash race Saturday at Dover Motor Speedway.

It was the first Xfinity Series victory of the season for the 31-year-old Hendersonville, Tenn., native, the third of his career and came one year after he finished second in his track debut in the Xfinity Series.

“This was one place we had circled after what we did last year,” Berry said. “To do what we did today is very special.”

Berry, driving the No. 8 Chevrolet, topped Allgaier by just over half a second, the top two drivers of JR Motorsports’ 1-2-4-5 finish.

“We’ve had some tough moments and it’s been frustrating at times,” Berry said of his season. “Racing at this level is a lot of work. You have to learn to love the work and the preparing more than the finishes.

“We knew if we kept bringing fast cars, we would find a win. We just have to keep moving the needle and getting better every week.”

Noah Gragson, was the highest finishing Dash 4 Cash driver in fourth and earned the race’s $100,000 bonus. It is Gragson’s fifth career Dash 4 Cash bonus victory, tying Elliott Sadler’s record.

“From where we were to get a top-5 finish, we’ll take it,” said Gragson, who said the bonus would be split among his pit crew. “What a day for the entire company.”

Among other Dash 4 Cash contenders, A.J. Allmendinger finished sixth, Ryan Sieg was 10th and Landon Cassill was 12th.

Stage 1 winner Sam Mayer led 18 laps and finished fifth, recovering from an incident where he lost his left-rear tire and was forced to make an extra pit stop. Ty Gibbs led one lap and finished third.

Allgaier led a race-high 67 laps and entered pit road with the lead on Lap 145 but came out of the pits fifth and was not able to get closer than second from there.

“That last run we were really good,” Allgaier said. “We came up a little short.”

Berry completed the 200 miles in 1 hour, 55 minutes, 17 seconds for an average speed of 104.091 mph. Five caution periods, including the two stage breaks, took up 36 laps.

Among other notable finishes, pole winner Brandon Jones led 59 laps and finished seventh and Xfinity Series rookie Sheldon Creed was eighth.

The NASCAR tripleheader weekend race weekend schedule also includes:

    28th – Joe Graf Jr
    35th – David Starr

Riley Herbst, No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang (Finished 9th)

“I think we were more of a top-five car for sure. Just lost track position there in the first stage and then got it back by passing some good cars in the second stage. Then we made a strategy call to try to win the race and it just didn’t pan out for us. It was a smart call. It was the right call. It just didn’t break our way and we had to fight our way back to ninth from there.”

Ryan Sieg, No. 39 A-GAME Ford Mustang (Finished 10th)

“It was a struggle coming from the back here where it is super hard to pass. Especially when you are on the loose side like we were. We were hanging on most of the day and trying to pass people and it is tough here. All in all it was a good day for the A-GAME Ford Mustang. We just gotta qualify and get up there and race with those guys and not try to play catch-up most of the day. We made good adjustments, we just have to get a little bit better. We have more notes now, so hopefully it will carry over to Darlington and we can get a little better and qualify.”

    TOYOTA QUOTES

TY GIBBS, No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 3rd

Can you describe the racing out there today and your run to a podium finish?

“I feel like we had a very good Monster Energy Toyota GR Supra. It was just a little bit tight there. I feel like we improved a lot from last year. Third place is good. We will take a podium finish and we will take a good points day. Not a lot of chaos out there, which is making my life a little easier this week. I just want to thank all of the fans watching. I want to thank Toyota, Monster Energy. I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Hopefully, we can go on to Darlington and run good with our Interstate Batteries throwback car.”

Solid third-place finish for you today. How was your race?

“I feel like we had a very fast Monster Energy Toyota GR Supra, almost as fast as Xfinity wifi. My guys never gave up – they always keept working. We were just a little bit off. I felt like we needed just a few more adjustments to stay with the 8 (Josh Berry) and the 7 (Justin Allgaier). Congrats to Josh. Hopefully we can go into next week – I feel like Darlington is a good place. I threw it away there last year, but hopefully we have a shot to win this year.”

    Notes of Interest:

Full of Energy: Bucked Up Energy Drink and its sister products will continue their role as the primary partner of Graf’s No. 07 Ford Mustang this weekend.

Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway is the eighth race of 2022 but is the 39th race overall in a multi-year, multi-race deal with the former ARCA Menards Series winner.

For the second time this year, the team will promote Bucked Up Energy’s Gym N’ Juice flavor.

With Gym n’ Juice, Bucked Up Energy Drink pays homage to those classic west coast vibes. This citrusy, smooth flavor drives you to early-coastal ‘90s.

Embrace your life — not someone else’s — and dive in. Take it from the generation that taught us, no matter where you come from, from the hills to the hoods, you better bring your A-Game with Gym N’ Juice.

About Bucked Up Energy: Bucked Up started in 2013 when twin brothers Ryan and Jeff Gardner started marketing a product called Deer Antler Spray. After selling thousands of bottles to GNCs nationwide, the company morphed into what is now Bucked Up, a full-fledged vitamins and supplements manufacturer.

The company has gone from its humble beginnings to becoming the No. 1 best-selling pre-workout brand that’s available in over 10,000 stores worldwide.

Plenty Of Other Bucked Up Energy Drinks Options Available Too: Bucked Up Energy now offers more than 10 quenching options, but two of their popular flavors, Pink Lemonade and Mango Tango now include low-stim options.

Low-stim has the same innovative ingredients that make their OG formula so powerful for focus, mood, motivation and energy. Bucked Up made just one small change and they have been surprised by the resulting epicness.

Boasting a modest of 100mg of caffeine, Bucked Up Low-Stim delivers the same energy, focus, mood, motivation – while reducing the common side effects that come from too much caffeine, jitters, sleeplessness and anxiety.

He has completed 589 of the 600 laps for a 98.2 percent lap completion.

Superspeedway, Graf and the SSGLRwJL team showcased the No. 07 Bucked Up Strawberry Kiwi Energy Ford Mustang for the third (Daytona, Atlanta and Talladega) superspeedway race of the 2022 season.

After successfully qualifying for the race on their time trials speed, Graf stayed out of trouble for a majority of the race before executing his move on a late-race restart in overtime to draft to a career-best eighth-place finish.

Talladega delivered Graf’s second career Xfinity Series top-10 finish. Last October, he earned his first career top-10 finish with a 10th-place run in the No. 07 G-Coin automobile.

School In Session: While juggling a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule with SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt, college life has resumed for Joe Graf Jr.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Graf Jr. has resorted to online classes at the University of New York, where he is pursuing a degree in business, media and sports management.

Sneaker Mania: Along with the adrenaline of the Motorsports competition, Joe Graf Jr. also has a vogue for hype sneakers. In his current collection, he owns and wears at least 90 limited edition sneakers – and his collection continues to grow every month.

The current estimated value of his collection tops $100,000.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Joe Williams is Joe Graf Jr.’s crew chief.

He will crew chief his 75th NASCAR Xfinity Series race as crew chief on Saturday afternoon and his fourth at the iconic one-mile concrete oval.

In his previous 74 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected one win (Auto Club Speedway | February 2022), six top-five and 18 top-10 finishes.

Hello From The Other Side: Graf Jr. has a teammate at SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt. Veteran David Starr will drive the No. 08 Children’s National | TicketSmarter Ford Mustang on Saturday afternoon for his fifth start of the 2022 season.

Starr is set to make his 239th career NASCAR Xfinity Series start and 13th at Dover. His best Xfinity track finish occurred in the 2015 Buckle Up 200 presented by Click It or Ticket, where he finished 13th after starting 24th for TriStar Motorsports.

    Joe Graf Jr. Pre-Race Quotes:

On Dover Motor Speedway: “I like Dover. It is a very challenging track which makes the race very demanding and can even be very exhausting depending on the race conditions and weather.

“I spent a lot of time in the simulator this week to get ready for this race. Our game plan is to unload with a looser setup and then tweak our No. 07 Bucked up Energy Gym ‘N’ Juice Ford Mustang from there.

“Things happen in a hurry at Dover, but I hope we are able to tame the Monster Mile with another strong finish that will propel us to Darlington Raceway next weekend!”

On 2022 Season: “It was great to capture our first top-10 finish of the season last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. I cannot thank every single person on this SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt team enough for their tireless efforts to bring a fast superspeedway car to the race track.

“Our No. 07 Bucked Up Strawberry Kiwi Energy Drink Ford Mustang was fast and we capitalized on that final restart with a career-best finish together. We can’t stop there though. The Talladega finish is motivation for us to keep working hard, and I hope that is the first of many top-10s to come in 2022.”
