SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt | Joe Graf Jr. Talladega Superspeedway April Event Preview

SS Greenlight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt | NASCAR Xfinity Series
    Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway | Ag-Pro 300

    Fast Facts
No. 07 SS GreenLight Racing Team:
    Driver: Joe Graf Jr. (@JoeGrafJr)
Primary Partner(s): Bucked Up Strawberry Kiwi Energy Drink
    Manufacturer: Ford Mustang
    Crew Chief: Joe Williams
    Spotter: TJ Bell
    2022 Driver Points Position: 29th | 2022 Owner Points Position: 20th
    Engine: Roush Yates Engines (RYE)

    Notes of Interest:

Full of Energy: Bucked Up Energy Drink and its sister products will continue their role as the primary partner of Graf’s No. 07 Ford Mustang this weekend.

Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway is the seventh race of 2022 but is the 38th race overall in a multi-year, multi-race deal with the former ARCA Menards Series winner.

For the second time this year, the team will promote Bucked Up Energy’s Strawberry Kiwi flavor.

Inspired by nuclear fusion, Bucked Up Strawberry Kiwi is an unparalleled source of energy and refreshment. We won’t get deep into the science, but in nuclear fusion, you get energy when two atoms join together to form one — the same reaction that powers the sun.

Conceptually, harnessing nuclear fusion in a reactor is a no-brainer. Except scientists have yet to concoct a controllable, non-destructive way of doing it. But we’re not scientists. We don’t think in reactors. We think in cans and flavors.

With Bucked Up Energy Strawberry-Kiwi, we fused two delicious flavors to form one. The result — a zero sugar, solar-sweet source of energy so abundant the world might actually start revolving around you.

About Bucked Up Energy: Bucked Up started in 2013 when twin brothers Ryan and Jeff Gardner started marketing a product called Deer Antler Spray. After selling thousands of bottles to GNCs nationwide, the company morphed into what is now Bucked Up, a full-fledged vitamins and supplements manufacturer.

The company has gone from its humble beginnings to becoming the No. 1 best-selling pre-workout brand that’s available in over 10,000 stores worldwide.

Plenty Of Other Bucked Up Energy Drinks Options Available Too: Bucked Up Energy
now offers more than 10 quenching options, but two of their popular flavors, Pink Lemonade and Mango Tango now include low-stim options.

Low-stim has the same innovative ingredients that make their OG formula so powerful for focus, mood, motivation and energy. Bucked Up made just one small change and they have been surprised by the resulting epicness.

Boasting a modest of 100mg of caffeine, Bucked Up Low-Stim delivers the same energy, focus, mood, motivation – while reducing the common side effects that come from too much caffeine, jitters, sleeplessness and anxiety.

Xfinity Memories: Joe Graf Jr.’s return to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend is meaningful. In last October’s Ag-Pro 300 Xfinity Series race, he rallied from a 40th place starting position to earn his first career top-10 finish aboard the No. 07 G-Coin car.

The 10th place finish is Graf’s current career-best effort in Xfinity Series competition.

Throwback Alert: Joe Graf Jr. and the SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt team will be participating in this year’s annual throwback weekend at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.

The team will unveil their paint scheme in the coming days. Last spring, Graf showcased a “Back to the Future” throwback capturing the attention of the garage and race fans alike for the team’s attention to detail highlighting the 1980s blockbuster film.

Settling In: Talladega marks the ninth race that the SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt (SSGLRwJL) team embraces their manufacturer switch from Chevrolet to Ford while incorporating its technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing.

SHR will supply the organization with race cars while Roush Yates Engines will provide the legendary Ford horsepower. In addition to providing race cars to SSGLRwJL, SHR will also provide technical support for the entire 33-race season.

Additionally, Graf will have NASCAR Cup Series and Stewart-Haas Racing drivers Cole Custer and Chase Briscoe as teammates for select events throughout the 2022 season.

Don’t Forget The New Partner Too: SS GreenLight Racing has added Jeff Lefcourt as a new co-owner of the Mooresville, N.C.-based team, as well as director of business development for the organization.

Lefcourt, a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. joins SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt (SSGLRwJL) with a long history of racing endeavors including owning Bethel (N.Y.) Motor Speedway in upstate New York, a current-NASCAR sanctioned race track.

The noted philanthropist, entrepreneur and real estate developer has deep ties to grassroots racing and was instrumental in helping secure the Stewart-Haas Racing alliance with SSGLRwJL in 2022.

Joe Graf Jr. Xfinity Series Talladega Superspeedway Starts: Joe Graf Jr. will make his fifth NASCAR Xfinity Series start at the 2.66-mile superspeedway on Saturday afternoon. The No. 07 SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt team will hunt their first top-10 finish of the season.

Joe Graf Jr. Xfinity Series Career Superspeedway Nuggets: In 10 career NASCAR Xfinity Series Superspeedway races, has completed 823 of the 1,798 laps available. He holds an average starting position of 24.2 and an average result of 27.9 with a best finish of 10th at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in October 2021.

Joe Graf Jr. ARCA Menards Series Career Superspeedway Nuggets: In three career ARCA superspeedway track races, Graf Jr. has two top-10 finishes. He has been running at the finish of all three races. He holds an average starting position of 15.3 and an average result of 11th with three (3) laps led.

In 2018, Graf Jr. was involved in the closest finish in ARCA Menards Series history at Talladega Superspeedway in a photo finish.

The margin was so narrow in the 69-year history of the series, it was a statistical dead heat, the margin of victory on the computerized scoring monitors showing 0.00 seconds. Only a video replay and the photo finish camera were able to determine Graf finished second by a matter of millimeters.

Martinsville (Va.) Speedway | Call 811 Before You Dig 250 Race Recap: In the most recent NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, Graf and the SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt team showcased the No. 07 Bucked Up LFG Burn Ford Mustang under the lights.

After successfully qualifying for the race on their time trials speed, Graf was involved in an on-track incident that damaged the front end of his race car and altered the handling.
Graf was able to manhandle his automobile to a 26th-place finish.

School In Session: While juggling a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule with SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt, college life has resumed for Joe Graf Jr.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Graf Jr. has resorted to online classes at the University of New York, where he is pursuing a degree in business, media and sports management.

Sneaker Mania: Along with the adrenaline of the Motorsports competition, Joe Graf Jr. also has a vogue for hype sneakers. In his current collection, he owns and wears at least 90 limited edition sneakers – and his collection continues to grow every month.

The current estimated value of his collection tops $100,000.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Joe Williams is Joe Graf Jr.’s crew chief.

He will crew chief his 74th NASCAR Xfinity Series race as crew chief on Saturday afternoon and his fifth at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

In his previous 73 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected one win (Auto Club Speedway | February 2022), six top-five and 17 top-10 finishes.

Hello From The Other Side: Graf Jr. has a teammate at SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt. Veteran David Starr will drive the No. 08 TicketSmarter Ford Mustang on Saturday afternoon for his fourth start of the 2022 season.

Starr is set to make his 238th career NASCAR Xfinity Series start and 10th at Talladega. His best Xfinity track finish occurred in the 2014 Aaron’s 312, where he finished ninth after starting 16th for TriStar Motorsports.

    Joe Graf Jr. Pre-Race Quotes:

On Talladega Superspeedway: “After our top-10 finish at Talladega Superspeedway last year, I’m eager to get back to the track this weekend and better our performance with our No. 07 Bucked Up Strawberry Kiwi Energy Drink Ford Mustang.

“Joe, Jeff and the entire SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt team have been working hard on this superspeedway car to get it ready for action on Saturday.

“We don’t have practice this weekend, so we have just one lap on Friday afternoon to turn a good lap and then focus on the race. We showcased a lot of speed with this same car at Daytona but had a mechanical failure and didn’t have an opportunity to prove just how fast it was.

“Hopefully, we can on Saturday. Talladega is a special place and I’ve made history there but I’d like to make some new history of my own this weekend.”

On 2022 Season: “There is a lot to be proud about in 2022, but there is just as much work to be done. Without question, I think we have proven that we have speed in our race cars, we just haven’t been able to execute on the finishing positions for one reason or another.

“Talladega though is a new race and a new opportunity and I will do everything I can behind the wheel to make sure we execute the best race possible.”

    • Time/TV/Radio: 4 p.m. EDT on FOX/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio

    Riley Herbst Notes of Interest

    • Back from a well-deserved break during the NASCAR Xfinity Series off weekend, Riley Herbst is ready to get back behind the wheel of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang and pick up where he left off. After spending Easter weekend out West, the 23-year-old driver will now travel to the Deep South for Saturday’s Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, the ninth race of the 2022 season. Prior to the off weekend, Herbst earned back-to-back top-10 finishes at two of the shortest tracks on the NASCAR circuit – Richmond (Va.) Raceway and Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. He’ll now move onto the largest oval on the circuit – the 2.66-mile monster known as Talladega.

    • Two weekends ago, Herbst scored a strong sixth-place finish on the tricky, paperclip-shaped Martinsville oval. He started 11th and ended the first stage 12th after battling a loose-handling racecar. Crew chief Richard Boswell made a key strategy call in the second stage, bringing Herbst to pit road for four tires and fuel on lap 101. The fresh tires gave Herbst the grip he needed to climb to ninth by the end of the stage and pick up two valuable bonus points. After another round of pit stops to begin the final stage, Herbst lined up second and took the lead when the green flag waved before settling into sixth place. He held onto sixth through two overtime restarts to deliver his fifth top-10 of 2022.

    • Herbst has four previous Xfinity Series starts at Talladega with a best finish of fourth last April with the No. 98 team. The Las Vegas driver was in position to compete for the win when the series returned in October after leading 26 laps and running in the top-10 for a majority of the day. However, Herbst was caught up in the “Big One” with just six laps remaining.

    • The No. 98 Monster Energy team has had two strong starts on superspeedway-style tracks in 2022. In the season opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Herbst ran in the top-10 for a majority of the day and collected bonus points with his stage finishes. He successfully avoided several accidents to earn a fourth-place finish. Five weeks later, the series arrived at the repaved and newly reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway, which is now more akin to a superspeedway than an intermediate track. Despite overheating problems that put him a lap down early in the race, the No. 98 team persevered to get back on the lead lap and earn another fourth-place finish.

    • Outside of his four Xfinity Series starts at Talladega, Herbst has competed in one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and four ARCA Menards Series races at the 2.66-mile oval. His best finish came in ARCA in April 2019 when he just missed victory lane by .149 of a second as the runner-up to race-winner Todd Gilliland. That October, in his one and only Truck Series start at Talladega, Herbst earned a solid third-place finish.

    • Saturday’s race at Talladega will mark Herbst’s 85th career Xfinity Series start and his 12th on a superspeedway. Herbst’s history on superspeedways has been strong despite their unpredictability. In his 11 prior starts on superspeedways in the Xfinity Series, Herbst has finished in the top-10 five times with a best finish of fourth, earned twice at Daytona, once at Talladega, and earlier this year at Atlanta.

Riley Herbst, Driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang

After eight straight weekends of racing, you earned a break with an off weekend last week. What did you do with your free time?

“As much as we love racing, it’s nice to get a break every now and then. I spent the first part of the week in North Carolina working toward Talladega with the team. Even during an off week, there’s work to be done. I actually took some time for Easter to go out West and spend time with my family. It’s always great to take some time to recover and relax when we’re given the opportunity. Now, I’m just ready to get back to the track at Talladega and go racing.”

Superspeedway races are always a wild card. How do you plan for these races when you don’t have teammates and there are only a handful of Fords in the Xfinity Series?

“It’s difficult, for sure, but you have to learn how to work with everyone to get up front. I think we’ve done a really good job of that and overcoming that difficulty on the No. 98 team. We worked with people throughout the field at both Daytona and Atlanta to score top-five finishes. We stayed out of trouble and were up there at the end with chances to win. That’s the plan again for this weekend and, hopefully, we can park our Monster Energy Ford Mustang in victory lane.”

Prior to the off week, you scored back-to-back top-10 finishes on the short tracks of Richmond and Martinsville. You’re now going to the largest oval on the circuit at Talladega. Talk about your thoughts heading into the race.

“Heading from back-to-back short-track races to a superspeedway race like Talladega is exciting. We did well the two weeks prior to the off week and we know how to score top-10s at superspeedways, as well. The goal this year was to perform consistently and we’re doing that. The No. 98 team is already off to a better start this season and, if we keep working hard and getting good finishes, the wins will follow. I know that this team can get it done.”

    Driver Quotes

“Taylor (Moyer, crew chief) and the No. 1 Accelerate Professional Talent Solutions team have built strong cars all year long and it has started to show the last few weeks. We’ve put together a strong run of three straight top-five finishes and that is what we set out to do. If we can keep doing that, the wins will come. Hopefully we keep that going this weekend and are racing for the win at the end of the day.” – Sam Mayer

“Talladega is a place where anything can, and usually does happen. At any given moment you can go from being out front to being stuck in the back of the pack. But I’m really looking forward to getting there and seeing what we can do with our Walmart Fight Hunger. Spark Change. Chevrolet. We had a lot of speed here last fall and I know that we will back that up again when we unload on Friday. Hopefully we can keep our nose clean all race long and work well with our JR Motorsports teammates to be in contention for the victory in the end.” – Justin Allgaier

“JRM always has really fast speedway cars and Bummy (Mike Bumgarner, crew chief) and this entire PUBG MOBILE No. 8 team have always been towards the front in the past. That gives us confidence as we head into this weekend at Talladega. We started the year off strong but have hit a minor rough patch so we’re ready to get this team back to Victory Lane where it belongs.” – Josh Berry

“I know when we get to these speedway races that this Bass Pro Shops/TrueTimber/Black Rifle Coffee team always has a chance to win. We’ve led a lot of laps at these types of places and are usually near the front in contention. If we can keep our nose clean, I think we will be battling for the win at the= end. It’s going to be a busy weekend for me running the Cup car this weekend but I can’t wait to get down to Talladega.” – Noah Gragson

Brandon Brown Returns to Talladega Superspeedway Hopeful to Find Himself Back in Victory Lane

Brandonbilt Motorsports and primary partner, Tradethechain.com, prepare to take on Talladega with heads held high after Brown’s victory in October

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 18, 2022) – Brandonbilt Motorsports (BMS) announces today that Trade The Chain will return as the primary sponsor of Brandon Brown’s No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, April 23. Brown, the defending Talladega race-winner, looks to secure victory number two in the Ag-Pro 300.

“I know that I’m going to be a pretty popular guy when I get to Talladega. I just hope that I can back it up,” says Brown when asked his feelings about the upcoming weekend. Brown earned his first ever NASCAR Premier Series win at Talladega Superspeedway on October 2, 2021. “It’s nice going back to a place where we’ve already won. It’s definitely a confidence booster for me and the team. We’re excited to go for a win again, but this time in a full length race! I’d love to put the No. 68 Trade The Chain Chevrolet Camaro in Victory Lane!” Brown has three top-10 finishes at Talladega, two being from the 2021 season.

A win this weekend would lock Brown into the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs. “It’s very important to capitalize on a superspeedway at this point in the race season because of how tough it’s going to be to make the playoffs this year,” admits Brown. He currently sits 14th in the points standings. “Going to a superspeedway always feels like a crapshoot, because you never know when or if the “big one” is going to happen. I’d prefer to bring my Trade The Chain Chevy Camaro back to Mooresville in one piece!”

“Trade The Chain is our primary partner this weekend, and you’ll definitely be seeing more of them this season. They’re just as excited about this race as I am. That kind of enthusiasm goes a long way in this sport,” says Brown.

Trade The Chain is a market agnostic, global community of traders and crypto enthusiasts that enables anyone, regardless of skill level, background, location, or experience, to learn from each other and share strategies for success. They also provide access to actionable sentiment indicators, real time significant development alerts, and a price prediction algorithm — data that up until now was only used by hedge funds and other financial institutions to help them make more informed trading decisions.

The No. 68 Trade The Chain Chevrolet Camaro will hit the track on Saturday, April 23 at Talladega Superspeedway, with coverage airing live on FS1 at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Jeffrey Earnhardt Joins Richard Childress Racing for NASCAR Xfinity Series Race at Talladega

Grandson of NASCAR Legend Dale Earnhardt to make RCR Debut

WELCOME, N.C. (April 12, 2022) – Richard Childress Racing announced today that Jeffrey Earnhardt will drive the legendary No. 3 car in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. ForeverLawn, headquartered in Louisville, Ohio and specializing in the manufacturing and installation of premium synthetic grass solutions, will be the primary sponsor of the entry. The race will be televised live on FOX beginning at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 23.

Jeffrey Earnhardt is the grandson of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt and is the nephew of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. His father, Kerry, was a regular competitor in the Xfinity Series from 1998 until 2009. Jeffrey Earnhardt has competed in all three NASCAR national series. He has 135 Xfinity Series starts and owns a best finish of third-place with Joe Gibbs Racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2019.

“It’s great to have an Earnhardt back in one of our cars,” said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of RCR. “We think Jeffrey is a talented young driver and I’m confident he will run well at Talladega.”

Earnhardt, 32, is a native of Mooresville, N.C., and is eagerly anticipating his first start with RCR.

“What a dream come true,” said Earnhardt. “The chance to be behind the wheel of the No. 3 car for RCR, that my pawpaw made famous, has long been a dream of mine and now it’s finally happening. I can’t thank ForeverLawn enough for making my dreams come to reality and for being such a big part of my career. I also want to thank Mr. Childress for making this possible. The No. 3 car is cherished by a lot of people, and I know how much it means to him. To give me this opportunity is something I’ll never forget.”

New partners SuperPufft, Dalstrong, and The Accredited Petroleum Association are also a part of this journey, making their debut with the ForeverLawn family at Talladega. They will be featured on the No. 3 car alongside returning partners Synthetic Turf Resources (STR) and Precision Products.

“My goodness, to be in the mix with two of the greatest names in, not just NASCAR, but all of racing – Childress and Earnhardt – is an incredible privilege,” said Dale Karmie, Co-Founder of ForeverLawn, Inc. “We at ForeverLawn are thrilled to help put these two names back together, and to do it in the iconic No. 3—with a definite nod to the Intimidator—is just amazing. We are excited to see the #blackandgreengrassmachine hit Talladega Superspeedway.”

ForeverLawn Inc. was created out of a desire to bring the highest quality, most technologically advanced premium synthetic grass product to the residential and commercial landscape markets. Owners Brian and Dale Karmie came from the computer software industry and began selling and installing turf in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2002. The company has consistently led the synthetic turf industry through groundbreaking approaches to products and practice ever since. Today the company services over eighty localized markets through their dealer network, with an impressive regional, national, and international project portfolio.

“We didn’t start the night off great with a pass-through penalty that cost us a lap, but we fought hard. Our No. 16 Action Industries Camaro struggled on the long runs, so I think that hurt us the most. I think we learned quite a bit and got the most out of our day. It’s something small to build on, and we will keep pushing forward.” – AJ Allmendinger

    Finish: 31st

“It wasn’t the day we were looking for at Martinsville. We had some good short-run speed, but we just struggled on the long runs. Trying to get the dynamic of the car to work throughout the whole run is key for our short-track program. I’m looking forward to Bristol, which I think will be good for us.” – Justin Haley

Landon Cassill, No. 10 Chevy Truck Month Chevrolet

    Start: 7th
    Stage 1 Finish: 4th
    Stage 2 Finish: 2nd
    Finish: 2nd

“I’m so proud of the effort from this entire team. We had a great day overall and qualified well in the No. 10 Chevy Truck Month car. We played some strategy to make sure we got stage points in the bank, which meant we had to climb from the back in stage three, but we were able to do it very methodically. The team kept me pumped up and focused, and we kept the car in one piece. During the last restart, I chose the bottom knowing that was my best chance of being able to win the race. I’m looking forward to being able to race for the Dash 4 Cash with my teammate, AJ (Allmendinger), in Talladega after a weekend off.” – Landon Cassill

AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Action Industries Chevrolet

    Start: 13th

    Stage 1 Finish: 6th
    Stage 2 Finish: 16th
    Finish: 3rd

“We did all we could with this Action Industries Chevy. It was definitely not where we wanted it to be going into the race, but my crew chief, Bruce Schlicker, made some great calls, and our pit stops were phenomenal. I’m proud of my teammate, Landon Cassill, for finishing second. I thought he might win it going into the last corner. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but we are maximizing what we have each race. The extra $100,000 for Kaulig Racing helps too!” – AJ Allmendinger

Daniel Hemric, No. 11 Cirkul Chevrolet

    Start: 9th
    Stage 1 Finish: 5th
    Stage 2 Finish: 19th
    Finish: 13th

“When you race at Martinsville, there’s many little things you have to be able to do. I was trying to do certain things to try and manipulate the car, but our No. 11 Cirkul Chevy just wasn’t handling the way I wanted it to, and I put us into some difficult spots. I’m disappointed for sure, but I like the direction we are going in. We have an idea of what we need to work on for next time, so we will come back stronger for the playoff race here in the fall.” – Daniel Hemric

Stage 2 Winner: Brandon Jones of Joe Gibbs Racing (Toyota)

    Overview:

Patience and strategy earned Riley Herbst a strong sixth-place finish in the Call 811 Before You Dig 250 powered by Call811.com NASCAR Xfinity Series race Friday night at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. The driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang started 11th and ended the first stage in 12th as Herbst wrestled a loose-handling racecar. Crew chief Richard Boswell made a key strategy call in the second stage, bringing Herbst to pit road for four tires and fuel on lap 101. The fresh tires gave Herbst the grip he needed to climb to ninth at the end of the stage and pick up two valuable bonus points. After another round of pit stops to begin the final stage, Herbst lined up second and took the lead at the drop of the green flag before settling into sixth place, maneuvering through two overtime restarts to maintain sixth in a green-white-checkered finish that delivered his fifth top-10 of 2022.

Riley Herbst, driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

“Our race wasn’t too bad. To come home sixth with another top-10, all in all it was a good day. That’s what we need to do here in 2022. Obviously, we wanted to win the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash money, and we do want to go win races, but we just have to progress.”

    Notes:

    ● Herbst’s sixth-place finish equaled his previous best result at Martinsville. Herbst also finished sixth in October 2020.

    ● This was Herbst’s fifth top-10 in the last last five short-track races on the Xfinity Series schedule. He finished fifth last September at Richmond (Va.) Raceway, third the very next week at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, 10th last October at Martinsville, and fifth last Saturday at Richmond.

    ● Brandon Jones won the Call 811 Before You Dig 250 powered by Call811.com to score his fifth career Xfinity Series victory, his first at Martinsville and his first of the season. His margin over second-place Landon Cassill was .677 of a second.

    ● There were 16 caution periods for a total of 100 laps.

    ● Twenty-one of the 38 drivers in the race finished on the lead lap.

    ● AJ Allmendinger remains the championship leader after Martinsville with a 20-point advantage over second-place Ty Gibbs.

    Next Up:

The Xfinity Series takes a weekend off for Easter before returning to action on Saturday, April 23 for the Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. The race starts at 4 p.m. EDT with live coverage provided by FOX and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Sheldon Creed and the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet Team Run Strong and Lead Laps at Martinsville Speedway Before Mechanical Issues

    Finish: 30th
    Start: 5th
    Points: 15th

“Everyone on this No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet team works so hard and tonight at Martinsville Speedway was no different. We qualified fifth and ran well early in the race, but struggled with drive off the corners, especially off Turn 4. About halfway through the race, we had a battery problem but we were still able to run. We even led the race with about a hundred laps to go before it finally quit. It stinks because I think we could have definitely finished somewhere in the top 10 or maybe even the top five. I wish our final results showed how strong our Chevy was tonight at Martinsville Speedway, but we’ll bounce back next week at Talladega.” -Sheldon Creed

Austin Hill and the No. 21 Bennett Transportation & Logistics Chevrolet Team Earn Solid, Top-Five Finish at Martinsville Speedway

    Finish: 4th
    Start: 14th
    Points: 10th

“It was a solid day for us. Everybody at RCR and ECR brought a really fast No. 21 Bennett Transportation and Logistics Chevrolet Camaro to Martinsville Speedway. We didn’t have the speed we needed initially, but this team never gave up. We kept working on our Chevy and making it better. By the time we got to Stage 3, I thought we could run top-five lap times. I just needed to get up there. I knew the restarts were going to get wild at the end of the race. It was a 50-50 guess on if the inside lane or outside lane was better, and which lane was going to stack up and which one didn’t. I got lucky on the last three or four restarts. I was able to pick the right lane at the right time and gain some spots on the restarts when the cautions fell. On the last restart I was able to stay on the bottom. I saw the No. 1 car and the No. 54 car get together and when they did I just gassed up and went as low as I could to try to get by. it worked out for us and we’re leaving Martinsville with another top-five. That was a wild finish.” -Austin Hill

BRANDON JONES, No. 19 Menards/Lyons Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 1st

What does it mean to battle your teammate for the win here at Martinsville?

“What a day. I can’t say that we could have called it any better. We made the call to stay out for stage points and drove the thing all the way from the back to the front. We had older tires than all of the guys at the end. Have to thank Lyons, Menards – our GR Supra was certainly as fast as Xfinity internet is. This is a driver’s race track here. I’ve won at a lot of different places now, but this is one that you really have to get after it. Ty (Gibbs) ran a really hard racee. He cleared me really early there in stage three and he had a strong GR Supra as well. It was fun to beat him. He’s hot right now and tough to beat. This was a good one.”

How were you able to battle in the closing laps with older tires?

“I think that one, they didn’t fall off maybe as much as some people thought and two, we just knew how to use our tools and we have a lot of different things to tune with. I don’t know, couldn’t have played it out any better and just really happy with the way it ended.”

Do you have a place for that Grandfather clock?

“I do, I have an awesome barn I just bought and I know right where it’s going to go.”

TY GIBBS, No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 8th

What happened between you and Sam Mayer after the race was over?

“I tried to talk to him (Sam Mayer) and then he got up in my face and at that point you have to start fighting. We got put in a bad position there and the only thing I’m mad about is that the 1 (Mayer) didn’t have anything or wasn’t going to get past the 16 (AJ Allmendinger) there and then I got hit in the left rear. It’s just frustrating and I got drove in the fence again, but I was on the other side of it last week. It’s just part of it.”
