JR Motorsports — NXS Atlanta Preview

    TRACK: Phoenix Raceway
    RACE: United Rentals 200 (200 laps / 200 miles)
    DATE: Saturday, March 12, 2021
    TV: 4:30 p.m. ET on FS1
RADIO: 4 p.m. ET on MRN Radio Network and SiriusXM Ch. 90

    Quotes:

Sam Mayer: “Phoenix is not one of my stronger tracks but we have been putting a lot of effort in to make sure we are ready when we arrive. Having a little bit of practice is definitely going to help me warm up to the place and knowing that we have had strong cars capable of winning adds a little bit of confidence. Hopefully this Accelerate Professional Talent Solutions Chevrolet will be in contention to battle for the win Saturday.”

Justin Allgaier: “Phoenix is definitely one of my favorite places that we come to on the schedule. It seems like we’ve always been able to unload with an extremely fast BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet there and I see no reason why we can’t do that again this weekend. We’ve gotten off to a good start so far this season and hopefully we can keep that positive momentum rolling and be in contention for the win again come Saturday.”

Josh Berry: “I had a really good run going last season in Phoenix until I got caught up in a wreck that ended our day early. The added time on track Friday for the ARCA race will definitely help me figure the track out a little more and see how it progresses through a run. This team has built cars each week that have put us in spots for good finishes and I know this weekend will be more of the same with this PUBG MOBILE Camaro.”

Noah Gragson: “Luke (Lambert, crew chief) and this entire No. 9 Bass Pro Shops/TrueTimber/Black Rifle Coffee team have given me great cars to start the season and have put us in the right position to be contending for wins at every race so far. Phoenix has been one of those places that are hit and miss for us, but JRM tends to be towards the front fighting for the win here and hopefully that is us again this weekend.”

    Notes:

    • Sam Mayer is coming off a strong performance at Las Vegas Motor Speedway that saw the 18-year-old pace the field for 25 circuits before being involved in a late-race incident, forcing him to a 25th-place finish.

    • In one start at the 1-mile facility of Phoenix Raceway, Mayer raced his way to a 13th-place finish at the 2021 season finale.
    • In 18 NXS races during the second half of 2021, Mayer racked up one top five and six top 10s while leading the field for 57 circuits.

    • At tracks measuring 1-2 miles in length in the NXS, Mayer has two top-10 finishes and has led 25 laps in total.

    • In 23 starts in “the Valley of the Sun,” Justin Allgaier has earned two wins, eight top fives and 15 top 10s.

    • Allgaier’s most recent victory at Phoenix came in November of 2019, with his first at the 1-mile oval coming in this event in 2017.

    • According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Allgaier ranks first in laps led (493), quality passes (494), laps run inside the top 15 (4,264) and in fastest laps run (298) in the Arizona desert.

    • Overall, in his NXS career on tracks between 1-2 miles in length, Allgaier has scored eight wins, 61 top fives and 122 top 10s in 200 career starts.

    • Josh Berry heads to Phoenix behind the strength of two top-five finishes in the first three races of the 2022 season.

    • The 31-year-old started ninth and ran as high as third in this race in 2021 before being involved in a multi-car incident just 54 laps shy of the scheduled 200-lap distance.

    • The Hendersonville, Tenn. native drove the No. 8 to a strong fourth-place effort last weekend in Las Vegas to record his second top-five finish of 2022.

    • Berry currently sits fifth in the championship standings only 36 points from the lead.

    • The No. 8 team welcomes back PUBG MOBILE for the second of their four races as primary partner.

    • Noah Gragson is on a tear to open the 2022 NXS season, finishing third, second and second in the first three races of the season. The effort sees Gragson as the series point leader heading to Phoenix.

    • Last November, Gragson battled at the front of the field in the NXS Championship race before falling to 12th at the finish.

    • On 1-mile tracks, Gragson has two top-five and eight top-10 finishes in 14 starts, leading 70 laps total over that span.

    • Running at the front continues to be Gragson’s biggest strength in 2022, leading 89 laps in three races this season.

  • JR Motorsports’ No. 7 to Carry ‘Door, Bumper, Clear’ Podcast at Dover

JR Motorsports’ No. 7 to Carry ‘Door, Bumper, Clear’ Podcast at Dover

Limited-Supply Diecasts Available Now for Pre-Order at RacingUSA.com

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 15, 2022) – Justin Allgaier’s No. 7 Chevrolet will showcase Dirty Mo Media’s Door, Bumper, Clear podcast for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover Motor Speedway (April 30). Allgaier helped announce the one-race primary sponsorship on this week’s episode of Door, Bumper, Clear, which is available now on DirtyMoMedia.com and all major podcasting platforms.

Allgaier also said during his DBC appearance that a limited supply of 1:24-scale diecast collectibles of the blue and red paint scheme are being sold exclusively at RacingUSA.com. Pre-orders are being accepted now. Each car will have Allgaier’s autograph on the windshield, the driver confirmed.

“This whole thing started when our friends at RacingUSA.com had the idea of creating a Door, Bumper, Clear fantasy diecast,” said Mike Davis, founder and managing director of Dirty Mo Media. “I loved the idea, but it just so happens our little media company is inside a very successful race shop. We started thinking, ‘Maybe this fantasy car doesn’t have to be fantasy at all. It could be real!’ The stars aligned, and the Door, Bumper, Clear Chevy became an actual thing that we cannot wait to watch on April 30.”

Door, Bumper, Clear is part of Dirty Mo Media’s original podcast network, which also includes popular franchises The Dale Jr. Download, The Burton Continuum and Glorious White-Knuckled, God-Fearing, Spun-Out-And-Half-Turned-Over Racing Stories. DBC is presented by Offerpad and hosted by longtime NASCAR spotters T.J. Majors, Brett Griffin and Freddie Kraft, all of whom provide unparalleled insight and candor on a weekly basis. It is that very insider’s perspective that has elevated DBC into one of motorsports’ most popular podcasts.

Fitting, then, that DBC would be paired with the reigning NXS Most Popular Driver. Allgaier has won the award each year since 2019, thanks in large part to his on-track success which includes 16 career victories. Two of those wins have come at Dover (May 2018, August 2020). Allgaier has finished no worse than third in seven of his last eight races at the Monster Mile with a 2.6 average finish over that span.

“Being a guest on the show yesterday and making this announcement was a lot of fun,” said Allgaier. “It’s really cool to see the growth of all the Dirty Mo podcasts over the last couple years.

“The race itself is going to be interesting, especially since we’ll be racing against the DBC guys on the spotters stand. We definitely won’t be cutting them any slack on the racetrack, but either way it’s going to be a fun day for sure.”

This will mark the third time Dirty Mo Media will appear on a JRM Chevrolet and the first with the organization since 2016.

“Anytime we do something like this, it’s a gesture of thanks to Dirty Mo Media consumers,” said Davis. “I think they enjoy the correlation between the racing and their favorite digital media brands.”

Catch Allgaier behind the wheel of the No. 7 Door, Bumper, Clear/Dirty Mo Media Chevrolet on Saturday, April 30 at 1:30 p.m. EST live on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.

    TOYOTA QUOTES

BRANDON JONES, No. 19 Menards/Jeld-Wen Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 2nd

What were you missing at the end?

“First off, I think this is exactly what this 19 team needed to kind of turn this season around. We’ve had speed at all of these race tracks so far and just haven’t got the finishes that we need. It’s really early in the season still. I thought when we came out of the pits there and were out ahead of him, it was going to be pretty good because aero situations were pretty tough today and it seemed like whoever was leading the race was kind of difficult to pass. Noah (Gragson) was leading before we all pitted. We were a little bit faster, so I think they just made some adjustments and got it better, but still all-in-all pretty happy to come home second – we got some really good stages too. Can’t thank Jeld-Wen and Menards enough for being on this Supra. This is the right momentum we need to turn this season around.”

TREVOR BAYNE, No. 18 Devotion Nutrition Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 4th

You battled back to the front after that penalty to earn another top-five finish. How was your race?

“I’ve never seen a Xfinity go green flag for the last segment. We had a bad stop at the beginning and it kind of got us behind. I tried to make up for it in the wrong spot and sped on pit road, so we had to go the rear. We went from dead last to fourth. That thing was hooked up, catching the leaders, running the fastest lap times every single lap and never had a chance to recover. The only reason I look disappointed is because I’ve never had a race car that good. This Devotion Nutrition Supra was unbelievable on the long run and I feel like I should have won with it. Those make you sick. California, I felt like Cole Custer had a better car. Here, we had the car to win, so you don’t want to give those away, but for what we had to overcome in 100 laps – to come from the rear and back up to fourth is pretty solid.”

JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK, No. 26 Stillhouse Toyota GR Supra, Sam Hunt Racing

    Finishing Position: 5th

What did you guys learn today?

“We didn’t start off super great during practice and qualifying. We qualified decent, found a little bit of speed, but the long run speed wasn’t very good. We worked hard on it all day and made some big adjustments from practice to qualifying and qualifying to the race and made some more adjustments during the race. This team just never stopped working on this Stillhouse Toyota Supra. We got up there and led some laps – I think that’s the first for Sam Hunt Racing – ran inside I feel like the top five, top six all day, which is a huge accomplishment for them. I had fun behind the wheel driving this thing. Anytime that I can come race and be behind the wheel, I’m enjoying it. The more laps the better and to run in the top five for this team is great. This is a great group of guys. Now our focus has shifted back to the Truck deal next week.”

TY GIBBS, No. 54 Sport Clips Haircuts Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 6th

Recovered from the early contact for a solid top-10. How was the race overall?
“It was good. I feel like our Sport Clips Supra was pretty fast today. It just didn’t have enough speed and where they put the resin made it harder – just a weird spot, so it made it just single file and hard to pass. We got spun out and then came from the back. We were down a set of tires and then it went green to the end, so we never had time to get all of the way back up. I feel like we had a third-place car, second place at-best. Just a frustrating day. Frustrating, but we have to keep moving on.”

This team has built cars each week that have put us in spots for good finishes and I know this weekend will be more of the same with this PUBG MOBILE Camaro.” – Josh Berry

“Luke (Lambert, crew chief) and this entire No. 9 Bass Pro Shops/TrueTimber/Black Rifle Coffee team have given me great cars to start the season and have put us in the right position to be contending for wins at every race so far. Phoenix has been one of those places that are hit and miss for us, but JRM tends to be towards the front fighting for the win here and hopefully that is us again this weekend.” – Noah Gragson

Atlanta-based Energy Drink Partners with Brandon Brown and BMS for Hometown Race Weekend

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 8, 2022) – Brandonbilt Motorsports (BMS) announces today its newest partnership with Zero FG Energy Drink as the primary sponsor of Brandon Brown’s No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 19.

Zero FG is a natural citrus and berry flavored carbonated drink that is caffeinated with green tea extract and packed full of both vitamins and the nutritional superfood, Blue Spirulina. The energy drink is also offered in a sugar free version. Through its products, Zero FG Energy Drink looks to represent a brand new culture for those who don’t get offended, want to run their own race and speak their mind freely.

“Today’s world can be noisy and, at times, difficult to navigate – but it doesn’t have to be,” said Josh Askew, CEO and Founder of Zero FG Energy Drink. “Zero FG Energy Drink was created to represent a brand new culture for those who are tired of wasting their energy on the daily dramas of life and just want to live free.”

Askew continued by saying, “I feel strongly that Brandon will make a great ambassador for our brand, and we look forward to the start of what is hopefully a long and successful partnership.”

Brandon Brown heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway feeling optimistic as the 1.54-mile racetrack had undergone repaving in 2021 and this will be the first race weekend back since the track’s upgraded 28-degree banked corners.

“I am proud to partner with Zero FG Energy Drink and to introduce their product to our passionate NASCAR fans,” said Brown. “The culture behind their product is something that I resonate with, and I think that a lot of NASCAR fans will as well.”

“There are so many unknowns about how the track (Atlanta Motor Speedway) is going to race after the repave, but from what I’ve gathered, it should be very similar to superspeedway racing, which is great for us since we were able make it to Victory Lane last year at a superspeedway (Talladega) and led laps a few weeks ago at Daytona. Hopefully, we can have a strong performance and put Zero FG in Victory Lane for their first NASCAR race.”

The No. 68 Zero FG Energy Drink Chevrolet Camaro will make its NASCAR Xfinity Series debut on Saturday, March 19 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, with coverage airing live on FS1 at 4 p.m. ET.

“Overall, it was a pretty good day for us. We were able to repair the No. 31 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevrolet from California, so to come away with a top 20, I think, is a win for us. We made some great gains, but there’s still some things we have to work on as a team to capitalize on the effort.”

“We fought some adversity again this week with some brake issues and sustaining some damage to the nose of the car. That’s not how we drew it up, but I’m really proud of the effort everyone at Kaulig Racing made today. Sometimes 22nd feels like a win and that’s what today felt like in this No. 16 South Point Camaro ZL1.”

“A solid effort today in our No. 11 South Point Chevrolet and a good points day that we needed. The finishes we’ve had during the first couple of races aren’t indicative of how we’ve been running and how hard everyone at Kaulig Racing has been working. I’m proud of the effort today and where we are collectively heading to Phoenix.”

“We had a really solid day and a super fast No. 10 StormX Chevrolet. I feel like I can do much better behind the wheel than I did today, so to come out with a sixth-place finish feels really good. I’m proud of everyone at Kaulig Racing for turning this car around after the issues we had at Fontana.”

AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Action Industries Chevrolet

    Start: 1st

    Stage 2 Finish: 14th
    Finish: 9th

    Quote:

“We fought a tight-handling No. 16 Action Industries Chevy all day, but we were able to make some progress during the race. My crew chief, Bruce Schlicker, was great all day at figuring out what adjustments we needed to make, and our pit crew was solid all day, which really helped give me a chance there at the end. Unfortunately, I did not have a great restart, but I’m glad we were still able to get a top-10 finish out of it.”

Sheldon Creed and the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet Team Rebound from Pit Road Penalty to Earn Seventh-Place Finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

    Finish: 7th
    Start: 8th
    Points: 14th

“I had a lot of fun today in the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I ran all the laps, which was the main goal. My No. 2 Whelen Engineering Chevrolet was fast and I was taking my time in the first stage. We got caught up in someone else’s mess, so that was frustrating and set our day up right there. We restarted on the front row and I thought that was going to be decent. I knew we were going to lose a couple of positions but I got hit going into Turn 1 and lost a lot of spots. I knew we had speed because we stayed with that lead pack on old tires and were actually better than some of them. In Stage 3, I was able to drive well inside the top 10, but ended up getting a speeding penalty on pit road. That’s my mistake and something that I need to clean up. Other than that, our Chevrolet Camaro SS was really fast and our ECR Engines were really strong. I have a couple of things to work on myself but I think I’m up to speed in the Xfinity car now. To come from a lap down and still finish seventh, I’m happy with that.” -Sheldon Creed

Austin Hill and the No. 21 Bennett Transportation & Logistics Chevrolet Team Have Strong Showing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Before Late-Race Incident

    Finish: 32nd
    Start: 15th
    Points: 10th

“We had a really strong Bennett Transportation & Logistics Chevrolet today at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, so I wish we could have finished out the race to show everyone exactly how fast these RCR Chevrolets are. Unfortunately, we ended up in a wreck that took us out of the race. I hit right-front first and then it kind of wall-slapped with the right rear. It’s one of those things that knocks the breath out of you just for a split-second, but I’m fine. I just feel bad for my guys. That’s two weeks in a row that we’ve got taken out and it was none of our doing. We didn’t do anything wrong. We had really good short run speed so I actually thought our Bennett Transportation & Logistics Chevrolet was in position to challenge for the win. It’s disappointing that we didn’t get to the end of the race and find out. We had plenty of power with our ECR Engine and all the guys on the pit crew did a fantastic job.” – Austin Hill

  • Herbst Salvages 14th-Place Finish at Las Vegas

Herbst Salvages 14th-Place Finish at Las Vegas

Circa Sports Driver Rebounds After Getting Collected in Late-Race Accident

    Date: Saturday, March 5
Event: Alsco Uniforms 300 (Round 3 of 33)
    Series: NASCAR Xfinity Series
Location: Las Vegas Motor Speedway (1.5-mile oval)
Format: 200 laps, broken into three stages (45 laps/45 laps/110 laps)
    Start/Finish: 3rd / 14th (Running, completed 200 of 200 laps)
Point Standing: 7th (94 points, 50 out of first)
Race Winner: Ty Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing (Toyota)
Stage 1 Winner: Noah Gragson of JR Motorsports (Chevrolet)
Stage 2 Winner: Noah Gragson of JR Motorsports (Chevrolet)

    Overview:

Riley Herbst was on his way to a top-10 finish until he was collected in an accident late in the Alsco Uniforms 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Ten laps short of the 200-lap distance around the 1.5-mile oval, Herbst deftly avoided a spinning Ryan Truex and Austin Hill. Yet despite making his way around the duo that crashed in turn four, Herbst’s No. 98 Circa Sports Ford Mustang was struck by another car accelerating low on the racetrack despite NASCAR displaying the yellow caution flag. The impact sent Herbst across the track and into the frontstretch retaining wall. Nonetheless, he was able to wheel his racecar back to the pits where crew chief Richard Boswell directed repairs. Without losing a lap, the Circa Sports crew got Herbst back onto the racetrack, where the Las Vegas native was able to salvage a 14th-place finish at his hometown track.

Riley Herbst, driver of the No. 98 Circa Sports Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

“We were just really tight all day long. Hopefully, we can get better. We were going to execute our gameplan, which was to just finish and get another top-10, but we got caught up in that last wreck so we finished 14th. We were past the wreck and then the yellow came out and I think some people thought it wasn’t out and they kept racing and that’s when we wrecked. I guess we still finished, but it’s frustrating with just how tight we were all day.”

    Notes:

    ● Ty Gibbs won the Alsco Uniforms 300 to score his fifth career Xfinity Series victory, his first at Las Vegas and his first of the season.

    ● There were 11 caution periods for a total of 65 laps.

    ● Only 14 of the 38 drivers in the Alsco Uniforms 300 finished on the lead lap.

    ● Noah Gragson leaves Las Vegas as the championship leader with a 17-point advantage over second-place Ty Gibbs.

    Next Up:

The next event on the Xfinity Series schedule is the United Rentals 200 on Saturday, March 12 at Phoenix Raceway. The race starts at 4:30 p.m. EST with live coverage provided by FS1 and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
