    TOYOTA QUOTES

BRANDON JONES, No. 19 ’06 NCWTS Championship Toyota Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing
    Finishing Position: 3rd

How does a third-place finish feel for you?

“Our Supra was pretty dang good throughout the race. We honestly had lap times to win the race. We didn’t have it the entire time, but man, I don’t know. We couldn’t keep track position very good. I don’t know what the beef with the 16 (A.J. Allmendinger) is. The respect level between the two of us is just not there for whatever reason. To be able to run this Toyota, Todd Bodine throwback – I know this means a lot to them with Toyota. We came up short, but this is where we need to be after getting wrecked a few weeks ago.”

How was your race overall and did you have something for them on the final restart?

“I think it was so cool to have Todd Bodine’s scheme on the Supra this weekend. I know that meant a lot to Toyota. Definitely wanted to get a win for them in that scheme. I know last year was so cool to have that scheme and we got the job done. I knew it was going to be close and that restart there at the very end, those two JRM (JR Motorsports) cars were battling hard and flashbacks came into my mind. I thought that those two were going to get in the fence and I’ll roll on by. We just didn’t have quite enough I don’t think in the tank, but I think we ran some of the fastest laps of the race so we definitely had speed in our Supra. Just all in all, needed to be just a tick better. We’ve got a lot to build on when we come back here in the fall.”

DANIEL HEMRIC, No. 18 Poppy Bank Toyota Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing
    Finishing Position: 5th

Describe where you are at right now with this fifth-place run.

“Frustrated. That’s where I’m at. I thought we had a Red Farmer Poppy Bank Toyota Supra way capable of winning this race today. I’m disappointed it didn’t work out. We had a left rear tire going down when we had that caution late with just a couple to go in stage two. Thankfully, I appreciate (A.J.) Allmendinger radioing our guys that they thought the left rear looked soft. When we you are at these places, you try not to swerve the car back and forth because you are just taking tire life out of it, so I hadn’t tugged on the wheel any, but with him radioing our guys, I tugged on the wheel and immediately knew it was flat. That put us behind. We never really had a chance to rebound. This race is so short. You have stuff like that happen, it’s hard to come back from. I’m proud of the effort. I, for sure, look forward to coming back here.”

How was your car throughout the race?

“The car was way better than the finish. Really proud of everyone on this Poppy Bank Toyota Supra for sticking with it. I thought Dave Rogers (crew chief) and everybody prepared a car that was more than capable to come here and win this race. We gave it up right there on pit road, but our day is coming. They know it’s coming. We’re leading laps and we’re doing the things we’ve got to do, but it’s just unfortunate to get a flat tire rolling around under caution. That kind of just put the nail in the coffin for our day. We rebounded and looking forward to coming back here in the fall.”

HARRISON BURTON, No. 20 DEX Imaging Toyota Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing
    Finishing Position: 11th

How frustrating was it to pit under the final caution and have so few others follow?

“That’s always, as soon as you pit, you know more that you did before you pitted. Obviously, I think we would have gone back on that call. Hindsight is 20-20 and something to learn from. I’m really proud of how fast we were with our DEX Imaging Supra. We won a stage and needed maybe a tenth more and we could have won the race on speed. Disappointed in myself, I did a good job on the green flag runs and didn’t do a good enough job on the restarts to control the race. If I controlled the race then we wouldn’t have had to make a call to win like that. Just a tough day. You’re close, but not quite there. We’ll get one of these sooner or later.”

    Driver Quotes

“Coming back to Darlington with DW’s Gatorade colors means a lot to me and to Pilot Flying J. Last year, in the first race back after the pandemic, we had a really fast Chevrolet, and the second race we were really good and finished eighth. We’re finally into the part of the schedule where we can go to the track every week, and I think that will really help us get some momentum going. Bummy (Bumgarner, crew chief) and the No. 1 team are ready to get to work and Darlington is a great place to kick it off.” – Michael Annett

“I’m really looking forward to getting to Darlington this weekend, especially with this awesome Good Humor throwback scheme. It’s really awesome to be able to run a Dale Earnhardt scheme and I can’t thank Good Humor and Unilever enough for letting us run this really cool design. We’ve had some really good speed here over the past couple of years and hopefully we can unload just as quick on Saturday and be in contention to fight for the win.” – Justin Allgaier

“The off week was great but I am ready to get back behind the wheel of the No. 8 Tire Pros Chevrolet. I know Taylor (Moyer, crew chief) and the entire No. 8 group will bring a fast piece Saturday and with the good runs we have had this year, we have the confidence to string together another strong finish. I’ve run at Darlington once before, so it’ll be nice to get back to a track I have raced at previously. Hopefully we can put this throwback in Victory Lane just like Dale (Earnhardt Jr, team owner) did back in 2001.” – Josh Berry

“When we came back to racing last year at Darlington after a long break, Dave (Elenz, crew chief) and the No. 9 guys brought a really good racecar to Darlington and we ended up fifth. We’ve put together a few solid races after a shaky start, so the momentum is definitely in our favor. We’ve brought home two Dash 4 Cash checks and we’re looking to add a third one this weekend. A big thank you goes out to Xfinity for allowing us to race for this kind of prize, it adds a little more motivation to go win the race and that’s exactly what we strive to do every weekend.” – Noah Gragson

    JRM Team Updates:

    • Dash 4 Cash Prowess: JRM drivers have claimed the Dash 4 Cash honors on 15 different occasions with more than half of those victories coming since the 2017 season. Noah Gragson most recently took Dash 4 Cash honors at Talladega Superspeedway on April 24th.

  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Unilever Honor 9/11 Victims with No. 8 United for America Chevrolet at Richmond

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Unilever Honor 9/11 Victims with No. 8 United for America Chevrolet at Richmond

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 4, 2021) – Never forget. That was the vow made by Americans following the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. JR Motorsports and long-time partner Unilever are standing united in that promise. Today, through a video release, JRM revealed Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s 2021 return to the No. 8 Chevrolet will come in the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Richmond Raceway on Sept. 11 – the 20th Anniversary of the terror attacks – where the NASCAR Hall of Famer will drive a special United for America paint scheme honoring the victims of 9/11.

In the spirit of remembrance and reverence, Earnhardt Jr.’s United for America Chevrolet will mirror the 9/11 Memorial and Museum’s Tribute in Light, a powerful tradition that began in 2002 in New York. On the night of Sept. 11, from dusk to dawn, twin beams extend four miles into the sky above Manhattan, reflecting the shape and orientation of the Twin Towers. The No. 8’s blue-and-white paint scheme similarly features four spotlights representing the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and the Flight 93 Memorial site in Shanksville, Pennsylvania with the axiom “Never Forget” on the lower-rear quarter panel, paying tribute to the brave souls lost during the terror attacks.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since that terrible day,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “The spirit of unity and togetherness our country felt on Sept. 11 is just as relevant now as it was then. I’m honored to be driving this car, and championing Unilever’s United for America program.”

This marks the third paint scheme associated with Unilever’s United for America campaign. The company also teamed up with JRM drivers Justin Allgaier and Noah Gragson to call attention to the fight against COVID-19 in the Carolinas and to acknowledge the first responders essential to the care needed in the wake of the pandemic. Earnhardt Jr.’s car will pay tribute to all those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, including first responders.

Created in May of 2020, United for Americais part of Unilever’s continued commitment to serve the people and communities most impacted by the pandemic. In 2021, Unilever will take continued action to support women and families – particularly in Black and LatinX communities. As part of this support, Unilever will continue to provide millions of products and supplies to frontline partners like Feeding America, use its platforms to promote vaccine education in partnership with the Ad Council, and take continued action to support organizations that provide resources to female small business owners and youth, including Luminary and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

“We are happy to be working with JR Motorsports, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and NASCAR to honor those lost on Sept. 11, as part of our United for America initiative,” said Fabian Garcia, president of Unilever North America. “We are continuing to address the COVID pandemic issues and wish to inspire collective action to provide services and products to our hardest-hit communities.”

Additionally, the Never Forget Fund will be featured on the decklid of Earnhardt Jr.’s Chevrolet. Created by the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the Never Forget Fund aims to raise awareness and educate the next generation on America’s capacity to unify, heal and show gratitude in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy.

Earnhardt Jr.’s most recent NXS victory came at Richmond in 2016, giving the two-time champion 24 career NXS wins and four at the .75-mile oval. His return to the NXS in the No. 8 United for America Chevrolet will air on NBCSN on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

    Brown on Darlington Throwback Weekend:
“After an off-weekend, I can’t wait to get back to racing this Saturday at Darlington (Raceway). Doug (Randolph), RB (Bracken), Lance (Elliot) and the entire Brandonbilt Motorsports organization have put together a stout race car, and coming off of a 7th-place run at Talladega (Superspeedway), I feel confident that our No. 68 team can deliver another strong run this weekend.

“Darlington’s old and rough surface makes tire management an important part of team’s strategies and combined with trying to run up against the wall, the goal is to try and keep the right side on the car, without getting too much of a Darlington Stripe that comes with the territory.

“Unfortunately, we’re heading into the race weekend unsponsored; but instead of running a blank car, we decided to try and make the most of the throwback weekend and it’s exposure to hopefully draw attention to our car and continue to build on funding for our race program.

“This weekend, we’ll be paying tribute to Dale Jarrett and his 2002 UPS paint scheme that won at both Pocono and Michigan and is arguably my favorite throwback scheme that I’ve ever run. It’s an honor to recognize Dale (Jarrett) because he’s been such a great ambassador of our sport and I’ve always been a big fan of his; so, this will be a pretty cool paint scheme to have on-track this Saturday.”

Kaulig Racing Surprises AJ Allmendinger with Darlington Throwback Scheme

LEXINGTON, N.C. (May 3, 2021) – Kaulig Racing surprised AJ Allmendinger, driver of the No. 16 Hyperice Chevrolet, on Monday morning with a special throwback scheme commemorating his first-ever NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) win.

Allmendinger, who had a 12-year NCS tenure, won the Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glen International in 2014, while driving for JTG Daugherty Racing. Throughout his NCS career, Allmendinger recorded one win, 11 top five and 57 top-10 finishes before retiring from full-time competition in 2018.

“This was unexpected for sure,” said Allmendinger. “It’s definitely something that means a lot to me. That Cup win was really special at that point in my life for so many reasons. I spent a long time in the sport, and had many ups and downs. Looking at this car brings back great memories to think about what that day meant for me and everything that came along with it. Hopefully we can do the same thing and go out there, win the race, and burn it down.”

Following his retirement from full-time competition, Allmendinger joined Kaulig Racing to drive part-time in the 2019 and 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) seasons where he earned three wins, eight top five, and 10 top-10 finishes. He then inked a deal with the team to drive full-time for the 2021 NXS season, including a limited NCS schedule.

“AJ is very special to us at Kaulig Racing,” said team president, Chris Rice. “He has done so much for all of us, both on and off the track, so we wanted to do something special in return to show our appreciation.”

Kaulig Racing Announces 2021 Darlington Throwback Schemes for Jeb Burton and Justin Haley

LEXINGTON, N.C. (April 26, 2021) – It’s a year of firsts for Kaulig Racing, as the team announces two of its paint schemes for the 2021 Throwback Weekend at Darlington Raceway.

Jeb Burton’s No. 10 Nutrien Ag Solutions Chevrolet will honor his father’s (Ward Burton) first-ever NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) win. The NASCAR Legend earned his first win at Rockingham Speedway in 1995 for the AC Delco 400.

“It’s pretty cool to be able to honor my dad’s 1995 MBNA scheme from his first, Cup Series win at Rockingham for our Darlington throwback scheme,” said Burton. “Dad and my uncle (Jeff Burton) have had a lot of success at Darlington, so it’s a special track for our family. I’ve only raced there once in the Cup Series about six years ago, so I am excited to get back there. It’s a great looking car, and I appreciate Nutrien Ag Solutions for allowing it to happen. Hopefully it will be a good weekend for our team.”

Justin Haley will pilot the No. 11 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevrolet that will garner a special scheme paying tribute to LeafFilter’s first-ever NCS race as a primary partner. The award-winning company started by Matt Kaulig made its NCS debut for Go Fas Racing in 2014 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“I’m pumped to be able to race this scheme at Darlington this year! I started LeafFilter from the basement of my house, and then was able to be the primary partner of a NASCAR Cup Series car in 2014. Now, 7 years later, LeafFilter has won three races with Justin Haley and as a company has grown beyond my wildest dreams across the United States and Canada, so it’s amazing to see how far we have come in a few short years. I know Justin (Haley) will make us proud.”
