    Sound Bites:

“I knew we were going to have a fast racecar. These guys have been working on this Phoenix car as if we were in the playoffs. I knew we were going to be really fast. It has been a really tough week this past week at the shop and a lot of really emotional people. This place has been home for a lot of people for a long time, including myself, and it has built me into who I am the last four years. I am grateful to every man and woman at Stewart-Haas Racing. They gave me a really fast car today and we capitalized on it. I can’t thank Monster Energy enough and everyone on the 98 team. They deserve to win. That is a championship-caliber team and crew chief. I wish we could have cleaned some stuff up over last summer, but I am proud of these guys and we will see what next year has. I’ve said it multiple times, I knew I could be here. I knew I could do this. Everything in life is just hard work and I definitely didn’t start out how I wanted to. It was embarrassing there for a few years and I was just really, really struggling, but I got around really good people. Tony Stewart, Richard Boswell, Davin Restivo, Kevin Harvick and they told me to get to work and they told me what I needed to work on and we did that. Now, we’re starting to see the fruits of our labor.” –Riley Herbst, driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang Dark Horse

“First of all, I just want to congratulate Justin (Allgaier). That’s a long time coming for him. He’s a deserving champion, for sure. What it came down to for us was that restart when the 21 stayed out on older tires. Honestly, it just came down to who you were behind. He made his car really wide, very hard to get by, which is his right. We’re all going for a championship, but that ended up screwing us worse than it did the 7, and the 7 was able to slip by. That’s what sucks. I really wanted to win this championship for SHR and finish it out strong, but it just wasn’t meant to be. It just sucks that it comes down to tire strategies and situational restarts and things like that, but the 7 car was great all day. I mean, they definitely had a fast car, but I can’t say enough about our team. JT and all these guys did a great job all year – Haas Automation, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Ford Performance. We’ll keep digging. This definitely stings because we were so close, but we’ll move on. I don’t know if I would say we were a clear favorite. I think us and the 7 were really equal. They just had some mistakes in the middle of the race, but at the end of the day it came down to that restart with the 21 and some guys staying out on older tires. We just got bottlenecked behind them, and the 7 was able to slip by. I have to say congratulations to Justin and all those guys. They definitely deserve it. Justin is a very deserving champion. He’s been working hard at this for a long time and I’m happy that he finally got it. It definitely stings for our team. I hate that it comes down to tire strategies and things like that, but it was a great race for us. We executed a great race, but it just didn’t work out. Everybody was racing hard, but it just sucks to run second. There have been a lot of memories with Stewart-Haas Racing and we just wanted to end it with on a win so bad. We got Riley a win, so that’s awesome to end it with that. I really wanted that championship, but it just wasn’t meant to be.” –Cole Custer, driver of the No. 00 Andy’s Frozen Custard/Haas Automation Ford Mustang Dark Horse

Kaulig Racing Race Recap | NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship

     AJ ALLMENDINGER
    No. 16 Celsius Chevrolet Camaro

    • AJ Allmendinger qualified ninth but had to start from the back due to an unapproved adjustment for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway.
    • In the opening stage, Allmendinger drove up to 18th by lap 20. He maintained that position throughout Stage 1, reporting his No. 16 Celsius Chevy lacked grip. The team gained six spots on pit road to restart for the second stage in 12th place.
    • Allmendinger maintained position in 12th place, reporting that the changes didn’t help the handling of the No. 16 Celsius Camaro. When the caution came out on lap 63, the No. 16 stayed out to restart in 12th on lap 75. Quickly after, the yellow flag reappeared, and crew chief Alex Yontz made a strategy call to keep Allmendinger on track and not flip the stage on pit road. Allmendinger restarted in third place on lap 82 and went on to finish the stage in seventh.
    • Allmendinger came to pit road under the stage break for four tires, fuel and packer and wedge adjustments. He restarted in 19th place on lap 101 and took over 11th place on the first lap green. By lap 128, Allmendinger had driven up to sixth place. The team came to pit road for a scheduled green-flag pit stop on lap 148 and had cycled back up to eighth when the caution came out on lap 155. The team stayed out to restart in seventh place on lap 163. By lap 169, Allmendinger had fallen to 10th place. Allmendinger was scored in 12th place when the caution came out on lap 198. Allmendinger came to pit road under caution to put on his last set of fresh tires. The race went into overtime; Allmendinger restarted in 11th place and the caution came back out. Allmendinger restarted in 10th place for the second overtime attempt and went on to finish in ninth, scoring third in driver points.

“First off, congrats to Justin [Allgaier], Dale Jr and everyone on the No. 7 crew. Justin [Allgaier] has been working at it for a while so that’s really cool that he got it. I wish we could have been in the fight, but can’t thank Alex Yontz and my whole 16 group enough for fighting. We were off from the start, we were loose the whole race and just weren’t sure what else to do to make it faster. Just disappointing we were never really in the fight, but it definitely wasn’t lack of effort.” – AJ Allmendinger

    SHANE van GISBERGEN
    No. 97 WeatherTech Chevrolet Camaro

    • Shane van Gisbergen qualified 17th for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway.
    • Van Gisbergen quickly worked his way up to 13th during the first two laps of the race. He reported major brake vibration shortly afterwards, as he battled to maintain position. The No. 97 WeatherTech Chevrolet was lacking rear grip through the long green flag run, and Van Gisbergen battled to hang on as he took the green-and-white checkered flag in 24th.
    • The No. 97 team came to pit road at the stage break for a chassis adjustment, four fresh tires and fuel. Van Gisbergen started the second stage in 27th after being issued a pit road speeding penalty. He reported that the brake adjustment worked, but that the WeatherTech Chevrolet still didn’t have rear grip. The caution came out on lap 63, and the No. 97 team opted to come to pit road for adjustments and fuel. Van Gisbergen restarted in 25th before another caution came out on the restart. Van Gisbergen fired off in 10th for the short run to the stage’s end, taking the green-white-checkered in 25th.
    • The No. 97 team came to pit road at the stage break for a chassis adjustment, fresh tires and fuel. Van Gisbergen started the final stage of the event in 27th. He quickly made his way up to 15th and then re-entered the top 10 on lap 125. The No. 97 WeatherTech Chevrolet battled in the top 10 before coming to pit road for adjustments, fresh tires and fuel with 53 laps remaining. Van Gisbergen rejoined the field in 19th and quickly climbed his way to 10th in five laps. A caution flew with 46 laps remaining in the race, and the No. 97 team opted to stay out. Van Gisbergen restarted in eighth on lap 163. He battled to stay in the top 10 but dropped down the field to 13th as he reported the car was tight. With three laps remaining, a caution flew, and the No. 97 team opted to come to pit road for fresh tires. The caution sent the race into overtime, and Van Gisbergen restarted in 12th. After two overtime attempts, Van Gisbergen ultimately took the checkered flag in 12th.

“That was a crazy race. Couldn’t get my WeatherTech Chevy comfortable at the beginning, was super loose and then tight towards the end, but the team and I battled through and came out with a pretty solid result. What a season with my No. 97 Kaulig Racing team! Thanks to everyone at Kaulig Racing and Chevrolet for sticking with me all season, learned a lot and had a blast!” – Shane van Gisbergen

    DANIEL DYE
No. 10 Champion Container Chevrolet Camaro

    • Daniel Dye qualified 13th for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway.
    • Dye immediately picked off a pair of spots followed by a third. As the run went on, Dye commented that his Champion Container Camaro struggled with front turn, and he lost the spots he gained earlier on. He ran consistent lap times through the middle of Stage 1, and he took the green-and-white checkered flag in 11th.
    • Dye started Stage 2 in 14th and would lose a few spots initially in his Camaro. A couple cautions slowed the race, and Dye restarted sixth with eight laps remaining in the stage. Dye would be relegated back after staying out and finished the stage in 19th. He asked for better fire off speed and pitted for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment at the stage break.
    • The final stage went green, and Dye restarted from 21st. The No. 10 fired off strong, and Dye began carving his way through the field. The Champion Container Chevy settled into 10th and ran consistent lap times. Dye, quiet on the radio, would continue to climb and stay out during the long run, where he would inherit the lead during green flag stops. Shortly thereafter, Dye pitted for tires and fuel, but a caution soon after trapped him a lap down. The race would see another caution, giving Dye the free pass, followed by another caution that allowed Dye to pit. In the end, the Champion Container Chevy would take the checkered flag in 17th.

“We had a great Champion Container Chevy, and I can’t thank everyone at Kaulig Racing enough for their hard work. Once we got it dialed in, we had good speed and were able to drive it through the field. Not the finish we wanted, but a lot to look forward to as we look to 2025!” – Daniel Dye

    JOSH WILLIAMS
No. 11 Seacrest Studios Chevrolet Camaro

    • Josh Williams qualified 19th for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway.
    • After reaching 17th at the end of lap one, Williams fell to 24th on lap 14 of the 45-lap first stage. He began finding extra speed in the No. 11 Alloy Employer Services Camaro as the stage continued, and he took the green-white-checkered in 20th.
    • Williams pitted for tires, fuel, and an air pressure adjustment during the stage break. He restarted in 20th on lap 55 and quickly fell back to 23rd one lap later. On lap 63, the caution came out with Williams in 20th. He stayed out and restarted there on lap 75 before another spin brought the yellow flag back out on lap 78. Williams flipped the stage, pitting for tires and fuel under the caution period and restarting in 25th on lap 83. He finished the stage on 23rd.
    • Williams fired off for the final stage in 14th on lap 101. He quickly lost spots, settling into 20th on lap 116. Williams reported that the No. 11 Alloy Employer Service Chevy lacked power on acceleration, saying that other drivers “just drive away” from him. Even so, he picked off two spots in three laps to take 18th on lap 131. During green flag pit stops, Williams’ Camaro required a battery change in addition to fresh tires and fuel, and Williams re-entered the race in 36th, six laps down. He eventually took the checkered flag in 33rd.

“We did a lot to try and manage our voltage issues tonight, but there was nothing more we could do to get the Alloy Employer Services Chevy moving forward. I’m appreciative of our No. 11 crew sticking with me all year.” – Josh Williams

ALLGAIER, CHEVROLET CAPTURE 2024 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP

    Allgaier’s First Career Series Title

AVONDALE, Ariz. (Nov. 9, 2024) – As the checkered flag flew for the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, a long-awaited dream came to reality for JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier. Driving his No. 7 Camaro SS to a runner-up finish – the best among the Championship Four drivers – in the series’ season finale race at Phoenix Raceway, Allgaier earned the title as the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion.

“We’re so proud that Justin Allgaier, one of our longest members of Team Chevy, is now a first-time champion,” said Dr. Eric Warren, Executive Director, Global Motorsports Competition, for General Motors. “Congratulations to Justin, Jim Pohlman, Mike Bumgarner and the entire No. 7 JR Motorsports Camaro SS team for winning this championship. They worked hard all season long and delivered another strong performance when it mattered the most. What a great way to finish the NASCAR Xfinity Series season for Chevrolet.”

The title is the fourth in the series for JR Motorsports’ co-owners Kelley Earnhardt Miller and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., all of which have been recorded under the Chevrolet banner. Despite a tumultuous opening round, Allgaier once again proved his true championship potential – earning three top-eight finishes in the Round of Eight to point his way into his seventh Championship Four appearance.

“This team never gave up,” said Allgaier. “Jim Pohlman (crew chief) – his leadership skills are second to none. He told me all weekend that we were going to have a chance.”

Allgaier joins 16 other Chevrolet drivers to earn the NASCAR Xfinity Series Driver Championship title. Others on that elite list include Tyler Reddick (2018 & ’19), William Byron (2017), Chase Elliott (2014), Austin Dillon (2013), Clint Bowyer (2008), Martin Truex, Jr. (2004, ‘05), Brian Vickers (2003), Kevin Harvick (2001, ‘06), Jeff Green (2000), Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (1998, ‘99), Randy LaJoie (1996, ‘97), Johnny Benson (1995), David Green (1994), Steve Grissom (1993), Joe Nemechek (1992) and Larry Pearson (1987).

“Dale (Earnhardt) Jr., Kelley Earnhardt Miller, L.W. Miller, everybody at JR Motorsports, all the men and women, all five of our race teams – just the effort that we’ve put in, I’m at a loss for words,” added Allgaier. “We’re going to celebrate this one for sure. It’s unbelievable.”

Chevrolet also led the series with 18 wins this season, with 10 drivers from four different Chevrolet teams taking the Camaro SS to victory lane.

JGR teammate’s Chandler Smith (fifth) and Sheldon Creed (seventh) also earned top-10 results for Toyota in Saturday’s Xfinity Series season finale.

William Sawalich (13th) started the night from the pole – the first pole of the 18-year-old’s career in just his third NASCAR Xfinity Series start. Sawalich is the third youngest NASCAR Xfinity Series pole winner in history.

    TOYOTA QUOTES

ARIC ALMIROLA, No. 20 He Gets Us Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 3rd

How did you end up in third place tonight?

“Just got beat. Yeah, we just got beat. Congratulations to Justin Allgaier and everybody at Jr. Motorsports – Dale (Earnhardt) Jr., Kelly (Earnhardt Miller), all those guys. They’ve been phenomenal here over the years and he beat us.”

What were the late race restarts like?

“Yeah, it’s crazy. You go in as hard as you can go in and hope the car sticks. It’s just you’re fighting for every inch of race track and clean air and all of it. It’s just really tough. I didn’t do the greatest of job there at the end. Disappointed in myself. I certainly wanted to win this one for our group but came up short.”

CHANDLER SMITH, No. 81 QuickTie Products Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 5th

    How was your race tonight?

“It’s hard to hang my head on the season because I was able to come back home with my Toyota family. Came and raced for one of the best Xfinity teams in the garage and was able to rack up a few wins, have the best average finish in the garage this season, Then when I went to the race track I was going out there and left everything on the table week in and week out because I was very happy with the group that I was going with. I was in a mindset of I owe it to my guys and my partners because everybody that’s been a part of this group all year has been working tirelessly to make this team what it is right now and the stats kind of speak for itself. Really, really proud. Really happy with everybody at Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota Racing. Tyler Gibbs, David Wilson, Jack Irving, Mike Pricer, Paul Doleshal – everybody on the Toyota side that brought this deal together. They’re my family, they always will be no matter where I go and I’m forever grateful that God inserted those men in my life because they’ve definitely been great life coaches. They’ve been there for me when I’ve been down, and they’ve helped me and my family tremendously and professionally in my career. Being behind people like that who support me week in and week out, just makes me more hungry to go out there and perform at the level that we have been. That’s what’s made the season so fun. I hate that it’s over. I didn’t want the offseason to start. I wanted the whole season to keep on going – have 30 more races honestly because when you’re having this much fun and got great people around you, you don’t want it to stop honestly. Just very bittersweet.”

NASCAR Championship Weekend Media Day (Ty Majeski & Cole Custer)

    Ford Performance Notes and Quotes
NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series & NASCAR Xfinity Series
    Championship 4 Media Day | Thursday, November 7, 2024

Ty Majeski, driver of the No. 98 Soda Sense Ford F-150, is making his second Championship 4 appearance and first with Ford. He spoke to media members Thursday morning to discuss his chances.

TY MAJESKI, No. 98 Soda Sense Ford F-150 – HOW DO YOU FEEL RACING FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP? “I’m excited. It’s good to be back. In 2023 it was a little weird not being here for the championship race, so it’s good to be back. I feel like we belong here and I feel like we deserve to be here, I really do. And I think the same can be said for the other three. I think the four that are here deserve to be here and with this format it doesn’t always go that way, so it’s good to have what I feel like are the best four in the series this year battling for the championship, so I’m excited for the opportunity. It’s been a great year and hopefully we can close it out.”

IT WOULD BE THE SECOND STRAIGHT TRUCK TITLE FOR FORD: “Ford has obviously done a lot of great work for us and they’ve been a great partner with Duke in the past, and now with our second tenure with them it’s been great. They give us all the tools that we need to compete week in and week out. Ford obviously closed last year on a really high note with all three championships, so to have all three you have to win the first one, so hopefully that’s us Friday night.”

ANY PRESSURE? “I’m excited for the opportunity to go and compete at a high-level Friday night. I feel like in 2022 I learned a lot just from a mindset of what this all means – being here on Media Day and going through the motions. I kind of know what to expect this time around and feel like that makes me that much more prepared.”

WHAT MAKES THIS RACE DIFFERENT? “You’re only racing three guys, so you’re not racing to necessarily win the race, even though that might be what it takes. You’re watching three other guys and that’s really all that matters to us – Friday night. We’re gonna maybe play our strategy a little differently to try and beat those guys relative to what they’re doing and how their races are going, so we need to be mindful of that and try to put ourselves in good position. We obviously want to win the race, but we want to be champion. That’s the goal we all have here this weekend, so it’s gonna be a great event. Phoenix always puts on a great race. It’s always exciting with how the frontstretch is and the restarts, so it’s gonna be a great show. I’m excited to go.”

YOU WERE FINED $12,500. WHAT HAS THE WEEK BEEN LIKE? “It’s obviously been a whirlwind for sure. Like I said, I’m really focused on the race Friday night. I felt like I needed to do my duty as a U.S. citizen to vote. My team owners and I, Duke, Rhonda and Allison, we all made the decision to exercise that right.”

    WHERE DID YOU VOTE? “Wisconsin.”

THE TUESDAY CONTENT DAY WAS NEW. WAS IT SOMETHING YOU WERE AWARE OF AND HAD CONTACT WITH NASCAR AHEAD OF TIME? “Yeah, we certainly knew about it. I didn’t specifically have much communication with NASCAR prior. I let everybody internally at ThorSport handle those conversations prior to not being there on Tuesday, so I feel like they knew our position and it’s kind of unprecedented. This has never happened before. Election Day, everyone knew it was Election Day for a long time. It’s unfortunate circumstances for everybody. I don’t think anybody wants to be put in that position, but we have to have a free country to race in and that’s just part of being a U.S. citizen, so I wanted to exercise that right. I didn’t know I was gonna in the Championship 4 until a few days prior. I’ve always in my whole life been an election day vote guy. I’ve never done an absentee ballot. I wanted to make sure my vote was counted.”

WILL YOU APPEAL? “That is our intent, yes.”

WHEN WILL IT BE HEARD? “I have not heard that yet.”

HOW WOULD YOU APPROACH THE END OF THE RACE IF IT ENDS UP LIKE LAST YEAR WITH A LOT OF ACCIDENTS? “I think there’s a lot of different ways to approach it and a lot of different drivers have different codes. Not everybody races the same. I know where my line is and what I’d be willing to do and still be able to sleep at night and be proud of how I won. That might be a little less aggressive than what we’ve seen in some different scenarios over the past couple of years. Like I said, we all have a code and I want to lay my head down at night and be proud of how I won.”

HOW HAS THE TEAM AS A WHOLE GROWN SINCE YOUR LAST CHAMPIONSHIP 4 APPEARANCE? “My 98 team has been really good. We’ve been together three years now. Obviously, there are some moving pieces, but Joe, I, the truck chief have been three really solid people throughout our tenure at ThorSport. Tyler Shullick, my truck chief, Joe Shear, my crew chief, we have a great relationship. We work really, really hard in the shop. That’s what it takes. It’s all about attention to detail and understanding and taking accountability of when we’re off, when I’m off, when I make a mistake, when Joe makes a mistake we hold each other accountable, but we’re incredibly close and we push each other to be better. I think that’s one of the biggest reasons we’ve been able to put really good runs together each season.”

IS THERE A LANE YOU PREFER HERE ON RESTARTS? “It really depends on the scenario. I’ve watched the last two or three races back here multiple times. There doesn’t seem to be a right or wrong answer to that. I think it’s very situational. I don’t know that there’s a line I prefer. You really have to pay attention to who is in front of you and what strategy they’re on, how old their tires are – there’s a lot that will probably go into the decision on what line I choose going into one, but that could be a championship decision when you’re on a restart on a green-white-checker. You need to make a decision on where to go and where to place your truck. It happened last year. Ben had a couple great restarts at the end and put himself in position to come out with the lead off of turn two and from there it’s hard to pass, so that will be a championship moment and hopefully it comes down to that.”

SEEING BEN DO IT LAST YEAR, DOES THAT GIVE YOU CONFIDENCE YOU CAN DO IT THIS YEAR? “Yeah. I mean, regardless of what Ben did last year, I have confidence in our team. We’ve run really well on these types of racetracks throughout the year. I know that we have the equipment and we have what it takes to come here and compete for a championship. It’s up to us to execute that, whether that be on pit road, strategy, myself on restarts. It’s all the little things that go into winning a championship. You’re not gonna be able to afford a mistake because there’s gonna be one of these other three that are going to go mistake-free in the race, so you have to be that guy and put yourself in position at the end of the race.”

THIS RACE IS DIFFERENT IN THAT A MISTAKE CAN COST YOU THE CHAMPIONSHIP. “Yeah. I think there needs to be a balance of you need to up your game for this race, there’s no doubt about it, but you also have to take the mindset, ‘Hey, it is just another race,’ and we need to do what we do and try and win the race because, at the end of the day, if we win the race, we’re champions. There’s more preparation that goes into it. You look at the finer details because those fine details can be the difference, but, at the same time, it is another race. Joe and I went to the simulator and prepared as we normally do coming up with a package and a setup, so a lot of the things are the same, but maybe you do those things with a finer comb, so to speak.”

THIS RACE DEVOLVED INTO A CRASHFEST AT THE END. ANY CONCERN THAT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN? “Man, I hope not. You never want a championship race to turn into that. I feel like moving the restart zone back will help that. We were so bunched up with how late the restart zone was or how close it was to the start-finish line. Everybody was bumper to bumper and as soon as we hit the start-finish line you just fanned out and went wherever people weren’t. I think with us being able to build up some more speed, go through more shifts, that’s gonna create a little more separation where hopefully you won’t see what we did last year.”

WHY SHOULDN’T YOUR TEAM BE OVERLOOKED THIS WEEK? “I think this is our type of racetrack. Anytime Joe and I show up to a flat short track, I feel like we’re a threat to win. I feel like we’ve all kind of had our parts of the season where we’ve been dominant and I really feel like the Championship 4 that are here really are probably the four that deserve to be here the most. That doesn’t happen all the time with this format, so it’s good to see that. I think that’s good for the sport, good for everybody involved to have us four here. It’s gonna be an interesting race for sure. I feel like we have as good a chance as anybody. Like I said, being on a short track I feel really good about our chances.”

WHAT’S IT LIKE TO BE THIS CLOSE TO A CHAMPIONSHIP AND ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL? “I’m just glad that this is kind of my second time here and I’ve had that experience to lean on and understand what goes into it with media day and all the attention you’ll be getting. Just having gone through it one time before this makes it that much easier. I’m much more calm this time around and understanding of what to expect. I’m excited for the opportunity. These are the types of moments that you dream of being in as a race car driver, kind of the Game 7 moment. It’s winner take all and I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

DO YOU FEEL THAT AS YOU GET INTO THE TRUCK? IT MUST FEEL A LITTLE DIFFERENT. “Once I get the helmet on, you’re really not thinking about any of it. You’re just executing what you know how to do in a race car. It doesn’t matter if it’s a late model, a truck, when you get behind the wheel and put your helmet on, I personally don’t really think of any of that. It’s just focusing on the job at hand and executing the best I can.”

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF ON HOW TO PREPARE? “I think the biggest thing is trying to treat this how we treat any other race. There’s more preparation that goes into it, but as far as the mental state of it, you have to treat it just like every other one. You can’t get caught up in the moment and have to sort of make the moment smaller and execute at a high level. There’s a lot that’s out of your control in the past rounds. There are different races and different types of tracks and you’re relying on other people not to win in certain scenarios, so there are really more variables that are out of your control in the previous rounds, so our perspective was all we can do is the best we can do. This race, you kind of control your own destiny a little bit. It’s winner take all. You have to execute at a high level and not make mistakes. You don’t want to do something that’s gonna take you out of it at the end of the race, so I have to be smart and I have to mindful. Stages don’t matter. To this point, stages are a huge deal getting those points, pointing our way to the next round as we did each of these rounds. This week it’s winner take all. Points don’t matter.”

WHAT’S IT MEAN TO BE THE GUY FROM WISCONSIN CARRYING THE FLAG FROM THAT STATE? “I love it. Wisconsin, it’s really a honey hole for short track racing. A lot of great race car drivers have come out of there and a lot of them have had success in NASCAR. Obviously, Johnny Sauter, aTruck Series champion. Matt Kenseth, Cup champion. Dick Trickle is a legend. The list goes on and on and it’s neat to sort of be that guy right now. I’m happy to have the opportunity to carry that Wisconsin flag. I’ll always be a Wisconsin guy. I’ll always go back to short track racing in Wisconsin whenever I can, so it’s an honor to carry that flag.”

Cole Custer, driver of the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Stewart-Haas Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, is going for his second straight championship this weekend. He would become the ninth driver to achieve that feat and the second Ford driver to do it in back-to-back seasons (Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in 2011-12).

COLE CUSTER, No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang Dark Horse – HOW DOES WINNING THIS LAST YEAR APPLY TO THIS YEAR?

“You definitely have some confidence with it but at the same time it doesn’t matter. I think this is a totally different year and we have to go out there and execute a whole weekend. I think our team does a really good job at executing weekends and maximizing, so we just have to go out there and do it one more time.”

YOU MENTIONED THAT AT THIS POINT LAST YEAR YOU HADN’T EVEN WON ON AN OVAL. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE NOW: “Hopefully. We have definitely had good speed in our cars and this has been a solid place for us, Phoenix. I think it should be a place where we can go execute a good race and be towards the front. You never know. We are going to unload and practice tomorrow and see what we’ve got and go from there.”

ANY FEAR THAT CHANDLER SMITH WILL RETALIATE? “I don’t know. I am not really thinking about it that way. At the end of the day I am going to go run my race and see where we end up and try to maximize the day. You race how you get raced, and you go from there. At the end of the day, I am just going to focus on our weekend.”

HOW MUCH DO YOU TAKE FROM LAST YEAR AND APPLY IT TO THIS YEAR FOR THIS WEEKEND? “Definitely a lot. Just how you go about your weekend and when to be aggressive and when not to be. Just the whole flow of the weekend it definitely helps out. I think having a notebook with our cars helps too. It has been a solid place, Phoenix has for us, so hopefully, we keep building on that.”

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO WIN BACK-TO-BACK TITLES BEFORE GOING BACK TO CUP? “It would be huge and from another standpoint, just having a shot to win a championship in NASCAR. You don’t get a ton of shots at that. You want to make every single opportunity count. We are going to try to make that happen and hopefully have that title again.”

HOW IMPORTANT IS QUALIFYING? “That is a toss-up. Qualifying definitely sets up your weekend good and gives you some confidence going into the race, but at the same time it doesn’t matter a ton. It comes down to that last run and where you end up there. Qualifying is just something that can give you a little confidence.”

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING THING ABOUT RACING HERE? “You are taking a 3,000-pound stock car and trying to make it go around a flat corner. It is very difficult to do that. The two ends are different and trying to get the car to work at every single point of this race track isn’t easy because it is so different. It is starting to get some age to it, so the tires are falling off throughout a run. You have to have a little bit of everything here.”

GIVEN THE START TIME OF THE RACE, DO YOU EXPECT THE TRACK TO CHANGE A LOT THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE RACE? “A little bit. The race is starting later than it has the last couple of years, so that will make it a little more consistent throughout the night but at the same time, the practice we are running during the day will be a lot different than what the race is at night.”

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF THAT IS HELPING YOU MENTALLY PREPARE FOR THIS WEEKEND? “I think it is mainly just our team. I think we have done a great job executing all year and the process that we take throughout the week of checking all the boxes has worked really well for us and we just have to go out there and do it one more time. We know that we are a team that when we do things right we are going to be towards the front.”

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO YOU TO BE THE ONE THAT IS CARRYING THE BANNER THIS WEEKEND FOR STEWART-HAAS RACING IN THEIR FINAL RACES? “It is huge. It would mean so much to everybody in that building, but at the same time I think it would be so cool to see Tony and Gene go out on top in a series in NASCAR. We are going to give everything we’ve got to try to do that and end this thing strong.”

WHAT HAS IT BEEN LIKE THIS WEEK KNOWING THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE BACK? “It is tough. We had a going away party on Tuesday and seeing all the people that have been there for so long and everybody has had a part in our team. We used a lot of notes from the Cup guys, and we have asked a lot of questions and a lot of guys have touched that car. It definitely means a ton for us to try to finish this thing out strong.”

WHAT CAR ARE YOU RUNNING THIS WEEKEND? “It is our Bristol car that we won with, so we have some confidence with this car. We will see where it gets us.”

SOME HAVE CALLED FOR THE FINAL RACE TO ROATATE TO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. AS A WEST COAST KID, WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO HAVE THIS CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND HERE IN PHOENIX? “I think it is awesome. Phoenix, I have raced a lot here when I was younger. I am from southern California, so we used to drive out here a lot and race. It is cool to have your family able to come over a little easier for me, but I think it would be cool to rotate it around a little bit. I think it just kind of adds a little something to it if it rotates.”

KNOWING YOU PULLED THIS OFF LAST YEAR IN THIS RACE AT THIS TRACK, HOW MUCH CONFIDENCE DO YOU HAVE? “Definitely a lot of confidence. I think it means that we know how to execute a weekend like this and we have a good notebook for here. So we just have to do it one more time and execute and see where that puts us.”

WHAT HAS YOUR WEEK BEEN LIKE SO FAR? PERSONALLY, HAVE YOU BEEN BUSY OR CHILLING OUT OR WHAT? “We raced on Saturday in Martinsville, and then Sunday, we went to the shop a little hit and tried to get ahead on things on Sunday. Our guys went in and worked and we went in and talked about the week we had coming up. Monday we went to the simulator and ran about five hours on the simulator to finalize what we had coming here. On Tuesday, the cars had to leave to get here because it is so far. We were pretty much finished up from there. I flew out Wednesday. It is a hectic week, so it is good to get ahead on things.”

YOU SAID YOU WERE HOPING TO COME HERE AND FIND A LITTLE EXTRA SOMETHING. WHAT IS THAT EXTRA SOMETHING? “I don’t know if we need to find something. At the end of the day we need to execute our weekend and go from there. This has been a solid place for us and hopefully we will have a fast car and be there at the end of this race because that is all that matters.”

WHAT ARE THE FEELINGS LIKE GOING INTO THIS WEEK KNOWING THAT THE STEWART-HAAS RACING YOU GREW UP WITH IS GOING IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DIRECTION NEXT YEAR? “It is obviously bittersweet. We had a going away party this week and seeing all those people who have worked in the shop for so long and put so much into this team. Our team has used every single note we could take. So many people have had a part in this car that is showing up this weekend. It would mean so much to end this on a high note. It would be really cool to see Tony and Gene go out on top.”

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF GOING BACK TO THE XFINITY SERIES AND WINNING A CHAMPIONSHIP AND NOW BEING IN THIS POSITION YOU ARE FOR SATURDAY NIGHT? “A lot of confidence. I think having won a championship here before and building on that and coming back and winning races and being with a great team and build on things and learn how to work with your team and get the most out of everything. It has been a great experience, and hopefully we can use all that going back to Cup.”

HOW HAVE YOU MATURED? “I think I am definitely a lot different than a couple of years ago, just from having a wife and kid now and everything is a little different. I think just having confidence is the biggest thing. Knowing what to look for. Knowing when you are struggling a little bit, what are the things you need to focus on. Those are things you kind of build on.”

IF YOU CAN BE THE GUY TO GET BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS, WHAT WOULD THAT MEAN? “It would be huge. That is such a big title. Anytime you win a championship in NASCAR, you don’t get that many shots at that, so you have to make the most of it, and I think we are going to do everything we can to finish it out strong.”

THE FOUR GUYS GOING FOR THIS CHAMPIONSHIP, IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS MUTUAL RESPECT AMONG YOU FOUR. HOW MUCH EASIER DOES IT MAKE THE RACE KNOWING THERE ISN’T A WILD CARD THAT IS GOING TO TRY TO WRECK YOU? “I think all four of us in this Championship 4 have a lot of respect for each other> We all race really hard, but clean. I feel like it is hard to beat this Championship 4. It is a great group.”

THEY FINED CHANDLER $10,000. DID YOU THINK THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PENALTY FOR THAT? “That is not really my concern. NASCAR is going to do whatever they have to do I guess. I don’t really care. It is what it is.”

WOULD YOU RATHER JUST BE ABLE TO HAVE FREE REIGN? “That is always a tough question. How ugly do we want it to get? Chandler’s was like, I could see it going either way, fined or not fined. I think they do want to hold reins in and not have absolute chaos, so you have to have a line somewhere, I guess. Chandler’s was definitely questionable on if you get a fine or not.”

    Cole Custer Notes of Interest

    • Cole Custer is making his final start behind the wheel of the No. 00 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway – a track where the Ladera Ranch, California, native has enjoyed considerable success. This race will be a bittersweet one for the team as it takes place during the final weekend for Stewart-Haas. It was announced May 28 that Stewart-Haas would close its doors at the end of the season. Custer hasn’t known a life outside of Stewart-Haas. He debuted with the team running a partial NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule in 2014, when he became NASCAR’s youngest national series winner that September at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon at just 16 years, seven months, and 28 days old. He ran another partial Truck Series schedule in 2015 and added a victory in the June race at Gateway Raceway near St. Louis. After a fulltime Truck Series campaign in 2016, Custer graduated to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2017 as driver of the No. 00 entry. His Xfinity Seires career with Stewart-Haas has been solid, with 14 victories (excluding his Feb. 22, 2022 win at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, with Bobby Dotter Racing), 21 poles, scored 114 top-10 finishes, and 3,057 laps led, all highlighted by drives to the 2019 owners championship and 2023 drivers championship. Custer also finished second in the drivers championship in 2018 and 2019. Custer then moved up to the NASCAR Cup Series with Stewart-Haas from 2020 to 2022. He won his first Cup Series race during his rookie season in the July race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, passing his now-retired teammate Kevin Harvick for the lead on a late-race restart.
    • Phoenix marks the site of Custer’s first NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship last November. He once again joins the Championship 4 field for a shot to secure back-to-back championships. The feat of back-to-back championships with the same team has not been accomplished since Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in 2011 and 2012 with Roush Fenway Racing. This year, Justin Allgaier, AJ Allmendinger and Austin Hill join Custer to round out the Championship 4 field. In his five fulltime Xfinity Series seasons, Custer has made the championship race in all but his rookie season in 2017, when he finished fifth in the standings. Since then, he has scored two back-to-back runner up finishes in 2018 and 2019 before winning the championship last season in dramatic fashion. After dominating the championship race last November, Custer seemed to lose all his title hopes as the field stacked up on a final green-white-checkered restart. Custer found himself shuffled backward with John Hunter Nemechek leading the Championship 4 field. In a final “Hail Mary,” Custer blasted through the middle to make a four-wide pass of the other Championship 4 competitors and claim the victory and the title.
    • Saturday’s season finale will be Custer’s 10th Xfinity Series start at Phoenix after five fulltime seasons. After a 21st-place finish in his debut at the track in March 2017, he never finished worse than 12th in his next six Xfinity Series starts there, highlighted by a second-place result in the November 2019 race and his victory last November. Custer also has 12 NASCAR starts outside of the Xfinity Series at Phoenix – six in the Cup Series with a best finish of ninth in March 2020, three in the Truck Series with a best of third in November 2014, and three in the K&N Pro Series West. His victory from the pole in March 2014, when he led a race-high 62 of 80 laps, was the best of his three K&N Pro Series West outings, with finishes of third and sixth in the other two.
    • Custer is bringing back the bright and vibrant colors of Andy’s Frozen Custard for the championship race in an alpha-bravo paint scheme with Haas Automation. • Following Saturday’s race, Custer will move back to the NASCAR Cup Series for the 2025 season. On July 20 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it was announced he will return to NASCAR’s elite series in the No. 41 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for the newly formed Haas Factory Team under owner Gene Haas. Supporting Custer will be new crew chief Aaron Kramer, who comes to Haas Factory Team from RFK Racing, where he served as a lead engineer for Chris Buescher. The team will have a technical alliance with RFK and will run two NASCAR Xfinity Series entries with Sheldon Creed in the No. 00 entry and Sam Mayer in the No. 41.

    Riley Herbst Notes of Interest

    • Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway will not only mark the end of the 2024 season, but also the end of an era for Riley Herbst and the No. 98 Monster Energy team. With Stewart-Haas Racing closing its doors at the end of the 2024 season and the No. 98 no longer being used by the newly created Haas Factory Team, this will be the final race for the iconic number. Herbst’s racecars have sported the No. 98 since he joined Stewart-Haas for his first of four fulltime seasons 2021. The Las Vegas native has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows with the team, but he says it’s ultimately made him into the driver he is today – an Xfinity Series winner who made a name for himself in the sport. From his first career pole in May 2021 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, to “flat out” beating the field by 14.959 seconds for his first career victory in October 2023 at his hometown Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Herbst has enjoyed success during his time in the car. He’s won two races and two poles, led more than 300 laps, and scored a total of 64 top-10s in his 131 starts with the team. In their final ride together, Herbst visits a track where he’s had numerous strong runs in his 10 previous starts. While he’s not in championship contention, he looks to steal the spotlight and go out on a high with his No. 98 crew one final time.
    • Herbst’s first fulltime Xfinity Series season came in 2020 with Joe Gibbs Racing. He posted 17 top-10s during that chaotic season with a best finish of second in the February race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. He went on to join Stewart-Haas in 2021 and continued to post solid numbers, including 20 top-10s in 2022 and 17 top-10s in 2023. He earned a career-best 10 top-fives during his 2023 season with the team, which included his first win and Round of 8 playoff spoiler role, scoring the most points of any driver in the round despite not being a member of the playoff field. Herbst made the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs in three of his four fulltime seasons with SHR with a best points finish of 10th, earned in 2022. Herbst also has eight NASCAR Cup Series starts that have not taken place under the Stewart-Haas banner, but did include crew members from the team on his cars as part of technical alliances. Herbst’s Cup Series debut in the 2023 Daytona 500 resulted in a 10th-place finish.
    • Saturday’s race will mark Herbst’s 11th career Xfinity Series start at Phoenix. After an early race accident ruined his series debut there in November 2019, Herbst finished 11th or better in his next four Phoenix outings, highlighted by four fourth-place finishes in March 2021, November 2021, March 2023, and November 2023. He earned a seventh-place finish in last November’s season finale to go with his aforementioned fourth-place finishes. Outside the Xfinity Series at Phoenix, Herbst finished 10th in his lone NASCAR K&N Pro Series West start at the track in November 2019, and 15th in his lone NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start there in November 2018.
    • It’s fitting that Herbst ends his run as a Stewart-Haas driver at a place similar to the desert facilities on which his racing career began. Being a third-generation racer from Las Vegas, he’s taken his family name from the Desert Southwest to the asphalt tracks of NASCAR. Herbst began racing go-karts up and down the West Coast at age 5. He soon followed in his family’s footsteps in 2006 when he transitioned to off-road racing, where his grandfather Jerry, his dad Troy, and his uncles Tim and Ed, all became Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame inductees after their numerous championship-winning campaigns. By age 10, Herbst sought a return to pavement, which began with Legend cars before transitioning to Speed Trucks, Super Late Models, the K&N Series, NASCAR Trucks, and now the Xfinity Series. During the past several offseasons, he’s had a chance to step back to his family roots to pilot a Terrible Herbst Motorsports entry in the iconic Baja 1000. He won last year’s race in the Trophy Truck Spec class as a co-driver with his father.

Cole Custer, Driver of the No. 00 Andy’s Frozen Custard/Haas Automation Ford Mustang Dark Horse

You earned your first Xfinity Series championship at Phoenix last November. Is there an extra boost of confidence after that four-wide pass for the win?

“There’s always a boost of confidence coming into Phoenix as a champion, but I’m also the reigning champion who’s trying to go back-to-back with the same team. That hasn’t been done in years and it’s one for the history books if I can make it happen. I still don’t know how I made it through that wild pass last November, but obviously the guys gave me a fast car that I was able to do that with. It still feels like a dream even though I’ve been the champion all year. With all that said, it’s still a new season and we’ve got three other competitors vying for this title. Anything can happen, and you have to make sure you’re prepared for whatever comes your way. We just have to finish the best of the four drivers. We’re always working to be better, no matter what. That’s been our goal the past two years. I’m confident in my team, though. I think we’ve got a good shot this weekend to be the champions once again. It would make this bittersweet weekend end on the highest note possible.”

Talk about the pressure of going back-to-back and ending your time in the No. 00 Ford Mustang Dark Horse on a high note with another championship.

“You definitely put a little more emphasis on Phoenix when you go to the first race of the year there, so that it can help you in this November race. We tried to do that and, while it wasn’t a win, it was a top-five finish in March. I’m excited to head back there and go for the championship once again with this team. I got the chance to do this last year and we made the most of it. Last year, we didn’t have a great race in March but brought a rocket ship in November, so hopefully we can build on that fifth-place finish from March. You’re always going to bring the best when you go to this final race of the season. On top of the championship, it’s also our final race as Stewart-Haas Racing. I want to win this for my guys, their families, and everyone who has been a part of this organization. It would mean that much more for all of us.”

Riley Herbst, Driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang Dark Horse

One last race behind the wheel of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang Dark Horse under the Stewart-Haas Racing banner. How are you approaching this bittersweet weekend?

“This weekend is tough. We’re all obviously excited for the offseason and the future, but the sport is losing such a big entity and it’s sad to see. Stewart-Haas Racing has been a big part of NASCAR’s history, so it’s sad to see it shutting down after so many years. It was a home for me when no one else believed in me. They gave me a shot in a car that has historically won and watched me grow into the driver that I am today. I wouldn’t trade those memories and learning curves for the world. I can’t thank everyone at Stewart-Haas enough for all the support over the years and for the guidance. This weekend, there will be a lot of goodbyes, but I’m hoping we can end on a high note.”

Phoenix is such a unique racetrack and you have a strong history there. How do you tackle it as a driver?

“I’m excited to get to Phoenix for the final race of the year. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the circuit – probably in the top two. For a driver, it’s one of the more unique tracks because of how different each end of the track is. You have to approach both so differently, but there are a lot of opportunities to show a lot of speed and get an advantage on your competitors. We talk about the dogleg a lot, but you see a lot of guys go down there to pass, including myself. It’s always a fun race when we go there, so hopefully that continues and we can end the season on a high note with another strong finish.”

Although this will be my last race at JRM, I am very grateful for all Dale, Kelley, LW, and everyone at JRM for what they have done for me over the years. Everyone on this BRANDT Professional Agriculture team has worked their tails off all season long to get to this point and I know that they are all ready to go. Season Finale: Veteran race car driver Dylan Lupton will pilot AM Racing’s No. 15 Ford Mustang for the final race of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season in Saturday’s Xfinity Series Championship 4 Race at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway.

The season finale will mark Lupton, a graduate of the NASCAR Next Initiative, sixth consecutive race as the pilot of the team’s No. 15 AM Racing Ford Mustang.

Last month, the former ARCA Menards Series West winner returned to NASCAR Xfinity Series competition for the first time since Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway last year on Oct. 5, 2024, at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Driving the No. 15 Sentinel Foundation | Nine Line Apparel Ford Mustang for AM Racing, Lupton contended for a top-10 finish before being collected in the “Big One” with three laps to go.

To jumpstart his stock car racing career this year, Lupton returned to the ARCA Menards Series at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International in mid-September when he piloted the No. 30 Lupton Excavation | Rette Jones Racing Ford Mustang to a top-10 finish in the General Tire 100 at The Glen.

The Wilton, Calif. native has spent most of 2024 competing in select Late-Model events on the West Coast and in a limited Trans Am Series XGT Class schedule.

The Californian has five career starts for AM Racing at Talladega, the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway Road Course, Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway (Fla.) and Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, respectively.

Lupton has 66 starts across all three of NASCAR’s national divisions, with one top-five and five top-10 finishes.

Dylan Lupton NASCAR Xfinity Series Phoenix Raceway Stats: Saturday afternoon’s Xfinity Series Championship 4 Race will mark Lupton’s fifth start at the 1.0-mile oval.

In his four previous efforts, Lupton earned a track-best of 15th after starting 32nd in the 2021 edition of the Xfinity Series Championship Race on Nov. 6, 2021.

Additionally, Lupton has earned two additional top-20 Xfinity Series finishes with Athenian Motorsports and RSS Racing, respectively.

In addition to Xfinity Series competition, Lupton also has three NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts at Phoenix with a track-best of 16th, twice, both with TRICON Garage during the 2019 and 2020 season finale races, respectively.

He also finished 19th in 2016 driving for Athenian Motorsports, giving the Californian an average Phoenix Truck Series finish of 17.0.

He will look to improve his overall speedway average Xfinity finish of 26.3.

Dylan Lupton NASCAR Xfinity Series Career Stats: In 46 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Lupton has a career-best ninth-place finish after starting 16th for Athenian Motorsports at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August 2015.

In addition to his Xfinity Series starts, he has achieved four NASCAR Cup Series starts and 16 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series starts to his credit.

Thanks For Your Support: With 96 percent of the 2024 Xfinity Series season complete, AM Racing and Dylan Lupton would like to thank their marketing partners for their support: AirBox, Flying Circle, Mechanix Wear, Mobil 1 and WIX Filters.

Martinsville (Va.) Speedway | National Debt Relief 250 Race Recap: The 32nd race of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season kicked off with a fall trip to Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

In his Martinsville return, Lupton and the AM Racing team led by crew chief Ryan “Pickle” London worked hard to improve the balance of their race car from practice to qualifying.

Picking up the pace, despite battling a loose No. 15 Lupton Excavation | AirBox Ford Mustang in qualifying, Lupton qualified on speed and started the 250-lap penultimate race of the season from the 31st starting position.

Throughout the race, Lupton was on the move, inching forward; Lupton had worked inside the top 20 when the car fell off the jack during a pit stop. Because of the miscue, Lupton lost his lead lap status.

Luckily, Lupton got the free pass quickly and began his march back through the field. Over the final sprint to the finish, he hustled from 30th and contended for a top-15 finish before settling for a 20th-place result at the checkered flag.

The finish bested Lupton’s 24th-place run with AM Racing in his team debut at Talladega Superspeedway in October.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Ryan “Pickle” London is Dylan Lupton’s crew chief.

He will be crew chief for his 33rd NASCAR Xfinity Series race and his third at Phoenix Raceway.

In his previous 32 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected two top-10 finishes, including a career-best ninth at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International with Joey Logano in September 2024 for AM Racing.

“I am very thankful that we have an extended practice this weekend. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been to Phoenix, but between ARCA, the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, and the Xfinity Series, I have turned a lot of laps there.

“Track position is going to be important, so we will continue to work on the balance of our No. 15 Lupton Excavation | AirBox Ford Mustang to ensure we stay in the hunt for all 200 laps.”
