    – John Hunter Nemechek and GMS Racing will utilize chassis no. 223 this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. This chassis has been ran twice this season by Nemechek, once at Charlotte Motor Speedway (start: 14th/finish: 12th) and at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (start: 10th/finish: 2nd).

    – Nemechek is currently second in Sunoco Rookie of the Year points, 22 points behind Noah Gragson in first place.

    Quotes:

“I am looking forward to heading to Kentucky this weekend. I feel like Turn 3 will be the biggest challenge for myself and this team. You carry a lot of speed into that corner and the turn is so wide and flat it’s hard to get your car to hook the bottom line. It’s honestly so different than any other mile-and-a-half that we go to with the flat corner and then you pick up the banking, it’s wild. The first time we ran this chassis we had a runner up result at Las Vegas. Hopefully we can finish one spot better and put the Chevrolet Accessories Camaro in Victory Lane. ”

Ryan Truex Rides into Kentucky Speedway with Multi-Platinum Duo Florida Georgia Line / ShopFGL.com Partnership Featured on JRM’s No. 8 Car

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 8, 2019) – Ryan Truex will ride into Kentucky Speedway this weekend with a fresh car design. JR Motorsports and the No. 8 team have joined forces with MULTI-PLATINUM superstar duo Florida Georgia Line to create a fresh spin on an old-school look with the classic red and gold paint scheme. The design inspiration came from the timeless liveries of motorsport legends Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Tim Richmond.

Keeping fans revved-up, FGL is celebrating the team-up with a brand new t-shirt for their fan-favorite tune “Speed of Love” as featured on their current album CAN’T SAY I AIN’T COUNTRY (BMLG Records). The one-of-a-kind shirt is their take on the Chevrolet car, and is available now at their merch store ShopFGL.com. Fans can use promo code GORYAN20 for a special discount now through Friday, July 19.

“I’ve been anxious to get back behind the wheel of this No. 8 car ever since we had such a strong run back in Phoenix,” Truex said. “To be able to do it with Florida Georgia Line and ShopFGL.com is awesome. We have a great relationship with FGL’s Tyler (Hubbard) and Brian (Kelley), who are currently on their CAN’T SAY I AIN’T COUNTRY TOUR. I think everyone agrees that Country music and NASCAR fans are synonymous with each other, which makes this a perfect relationship. I love the look of this throwback scheme and can’t wait to unload at Kentucky.”

The Kentucky event marks Truex’s second race of the 2019 season. His lone start for JRM came in March when he drove the No. 8 to the team’s season-best finish, a second-place effort at ISM Raceway.

The No. 8 is currently ranked 12th in owner points on the strength of four top-five and 11 top-10 finishes.
The Alsco 300 at Kentucky Speedway airs on Friday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Tyler Reddick and the No. 2 Gimme Country Chevrolet Team Capture the Pole and Lead Laps at Daytona International Speedway

    Finish: 17th
    Start: 1st
    Points: 1st

“That was a much more wild race than what we saw when we were at Daytona in February. It was great to start off the day by capturing our second-consecutive pole award this year here. That’s a huge testament to everything everyone at RCR and ECR is doing back at the shop. We had an up and down day, spinning during the middle of Stage 2 and falling a lap down to getting that lap back and contending for the win. Unfortunately on that last restart we got shuffled back in our No. 2 Gimme Country Camaro and received a bad tire rub that forced us to hit pit road with a handful of laps left. We’ll get back after it next week at Kentucky, but I just wish we had another shot at the final few laps of this one. This race literally had it all for us, just missing the win. I can’t thank Gimme Country enough for coming on board for this race and hope they enjoyed it!” -Tyler Reddick

Joe Graf Jr. Earns Solid Qualifying Effort and Gains Valuable Experience at Daytona International Speedway in Eat Sleep Race Chevrolet

    Finish: 24th
    Start: 6th
    Points: N/A

“We came here this weekend with the goal of gaining as much experience at Daytona International Speedway as possible in the No. 21 Eat Sleep Race Chevrolet. We were able to qualify sixth, which was a great start for my first Daytona International Speedway NASCAR Xfinity Series start. Early in Stage 1, we were involved in an on-track incident that caused us to have concerns about the brakes and damage to the left-front fender. We pitted a couple of times for repairs and the No. 21 Eat Sleep Race team did a great job repairing the damage and getting us back on track. We restarted the race one lap down in 35th and worked hard to put ourselves in position to earn the Lucky Dog at the end of Stage 1. The Eat Sleep Race Chevy remained really strong in the draft so we just tried to save our equipment so that we could put ourselves in a good position for the end of the race. Working with my teammate, Tyler Reddick, we were able to race to as high as fifth in the race. Unfortunately, we were one of 14 cars involved in a pileup with 13 laps to go and even though we made repairs the damage was just too great to finish the race. I’m disappointed with our finish because we had a really fast car, but it’s awesome to be able to get more experience at Daytona. I can’t thank everyone at RCR and Eat Sleep Race enough.” – Joe Graf, Jr.

No. 22 Pirtek Ford Mustang – Austin Cindric
    Start: 19th
    Stage 1: 15th
    Stage 2: 10th
    Finish: 5th
    Status: Running
    Laps Completed: 100/100
    Laps Led: 0
Driver Point Standings (behind first): 4th (-119 leader)

    Notes:

Austin Cindric rallied back from early damage to score a fifth-place finish in the Circle K Firecracker 250 Powered by Coca-Cola Friday evening at Daytona International Speedway. The driver of the Pirtek Ford racked up his 13th top-five finish and his 26th top-10 finish in 50 career NASCAR Xfinity Series races. Cindric remains fourth in in the NASCAR Xfinity Series driver point standings, 119 points behind leader Tyler Reddick and 38 points behind third place driver Cole Custer.

Cindric started the rain delayed 100-lap race from the 19th-place starting position. Once the green-flag waived the Mooresville, N.C. native held the 19th-position. On lap 9, the No. 90 of Caesar Bacarella spun causing a multi-car crash. Cindric, with no place to go, received right-side damage from the incident. Crew chief Brian Wilson called the driver of the Pirtek Ford to pit road on lap 10 to evaluate and fix the damage and receive four fresh tires, fuel and minor adjustments to aid Cindric’s tight Mustang.

Cindric would return to the track in the 24th position once the race resumed on lap 13 and race his way to 14th before the pace was slowed for the second time on lap 23 for another multi-car incident. As the field was checking up, Cindric’s Pirtek Ford received slight damage. Wilson called his driver to pit road on lap 25 from the 14th position to seal the hood. He would rejoin the field in 30th with two laps remaining in the first stage and race his way to the 15th position by the conclusion of the first 30-lap stage. Cindric would pit at the stage caution on lap 32 for fuel only and restart 12th.

Cindric would race his way to the ninth position, before getting shuffled to 16th. The pace was slowed for a fourth time on lap 45. Cindric would remain on track during the caution allowing him to restart 12th with 10 laps remaining in the Stage 2 and race to 10th by the end of the second stage. Cindric was called to pit road during the stage caution on lap 62 for four tires, fuel and minor adjust to help the travel on his Ford. A fast stop by the No. 22 Pirtek pit crew would allow Cindric to restart the final stage eighth on lap 65.

Once the race restarted the field was running three-wide with Cindric on the bottom lane. He avoided disaster on lap 79 slicing and dicing through spinning cars and the red flag was displayed for cleanup. Wilson called the driver of the No. 22 Pirtek Ford down pit road under the caution from the eighth position. Cindric would restart form the 15th position. The last 10 laps remained caution free allowing Cindric to race his way to fifth-place finish at the checkered flag.

Quote: “Yeah, for a while I thought we had a shot at the win. I feel like if you had less teammates up there maybe we could have done something or helped the 20 or trying to advance our spot there, but we’ll take it. It had been a pretty boring weekend so far, but I’m eating my words for that for sure. I mean, we were involved in just about everything there was, not necessarily by our own fault, but it was perseverance and a team effort. Those guys did an awesome job of getting the car in fighting shape and then obviously I was able to make the right moves and get us up into contention. Fun fact: Every single race I’ve ran in Daytona this year I’ve finished fifth – no matter if I’m in a Ford Mustang in GTB, an Xfinity car both times, I don’t know what it is about this place, but I guess we’ll take it.”

    TOYOTA QUOTES

CHRISTOPHER BELL, No. 20 Ruud-Ferguson Toyota Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 3rd

Was there anything you could have done to pass the Kaulig cars in the closing lap?

“I don’t know, I maybe could have laid back a little bit. You lay back and the guy behind you tries to make a move on you. I don’t know, I’ll just have to go back and see if there was anything I could have done differently. Overall, it was a great speedway season for us. I think we were sixth here in February, a third at Talladega and then a fourth here today. That’s my best speedway season I’ve had in my career. Take that and try to learn from it. Really proud of these guys on the Ruud Supra.”

Did the runs seem bigger tonight?

“They seem pretty big. I don’t know. I asked my spotter if he thought the runs were a little bigger than normal because I felt like there was a lot of jockeying. Maybe they were, maybe they weren’t — it was just a typical speedway race.”

Why was this race crazier than the race in February?

“I don’t know. I missed it. In February I said we were going to be all over the place and we rode around. Then we go to Talladega and I said we were going to ride around and we were all over the place. I really don’t know, I wish I could tell you more, but I have no idea.”

Did you consider making a run on the closing lap?

“I just couldn’t get a run to do anything. I wanted to pass those guys, but I’m sitting there wide open and I can’t get to their bumpers. I felt like I really didn’t have any move there.”

What was the attitude of the race team after last week’s post-race disqualification?

“They’re fine. I don’t think anyone really said much of anything. Obviously, you don’t want to give away races like that, but it was a great test session for us. We know where we could have been better and I was hammering the race track pretty hard. We just have to get the frontend up a little bit and our car will be way faster. Mainly when I say it was a good test session, Chicago is really similar to Homestead. The line you run and in the past, the tire has been really similar. That’s why I say it was a good test session. We know where we can be better. Obviously, the 00 (Cole Custer) was quite a bit better than us at Chicago so we know how we can close the gap a little bit on him.”

Did you feel you could make moves during the race?

“Whenever guys were kind of packed up, I felt like I could switch lines and get runs on people, but as soon as they got single-filed out, I was just kind of along for the ride. The 10 (AJ Allmendinger) car just kind of blew my doors off on the last lap. I was wide open and he got a run on me and drove by me.”

BRANDON JONES, No. 19 Menards/ORCA Toyota Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 31st

How was the race and what happened that ended your night early?

“I thought we had something going there at the beginning. We missed a big wreck and unfortunately, we got caught up in one of them. It wasn’t too bad really. We got into position there where the guys kept coming down pit road and working continuously. I’m really proud of this group. I wouldn’t want anyone else out there fighting for me on the track other than these guys. They kept continuing to put BearBond on the front of this thing to get it taped up. There were moments there where I was running 20% throttle and still able to keep up with the draft. Just trying to save some fuel and it was going to work out perfectly. Got the wave-around, got back on the lead lap and in the end there we lost a rear shock mount. I hate it. We had my cousin, Eric Jones’ unit on the car and had his patch inside – I think that’s what kept us going tonight. Great job for Menards as well and we had Orca on the hood as well. All in all, a good day and I just wish we could have finished it out and been there at the end.”

Ford Performance NASCAR: Cindric Finished 5th To Lead Ford in Daytona XFINITY Race

    Ford Performance Notes and Quotes
    NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS)
    Friday, July 5, 2019
EVENT: Circle K Firecracker 250, Daytona Beach, FL.

    Ford Finishing Results:
    5th – Austin Cindric
    27th – Cole Custer
    36th – Chase Briscoe

CHASE BRISCOE, No. 98 Ford Performance Mustang – “I feel fine. I haven’t seen the video, but it honestly didn’t feel like that big of a hit. NASCAR is doing their part and Stewart-Haas builds really safe race cars, so it’s just unfortunate. I was honestly having a blast out there. I felt like I could make moves and drive through the field fairly easy and thought we were gonna have a really good night, but just got caught up in somebody else’s mess. That’s part of this place. Every time you come here you know that’s gonna happen and we were just on the bad end of it tonight.”

STAGE ONE WAS PRETTY INTENSE. DID THAT SURPRISE YOU? “After that first caution in the first stage I think we restarted around 15th or 16th and I was able to drive up to fourth or fifth. We were in the middle for four or five laps straight and it was pretty wild. I thought we were gonna wreck then. We missed one by an inch there off of four with John Hunter and whoever else it was, but I wasn’t lucky enough the second time. We’ll go on to Kentucky. It isn’t my best race track in the world, but I’m looking forward to it and hopefully we can have a good day.”

COLE CUSTER, No. 00 Jacob Companies Ford Mustang – “That was terrible. I don’t know. It’s just speedway racing. It sucks. I just have never been good at it, I guess. I always get caught up in the wrecks, so I don’t know. I can’t thank Jacob Companies enough for coming on our car for this race and, I don’t know, it was a tough day. I wasn’t able to find the front and just got caught up in it there. By the second I saw daylight it was just the 1 car sitting in front of me, so I don’t know. We’ll go to Kentucky and see what we can do.” HOW DO YOU PROCESS WHAT YOU’RE HEARING FROM YOUR SPOTTER? “I was just trying to hold my lane and I couldn’t see anything, so I just kept kind of going straight and by the time everything kind of cleared up the 1 car was just sitting right in front of me. It’s just part of it, I guess.”

AUSTIN CINDRIC, No. 22 Pirtek Ford Mustang – YOU PERSEVERED AFTER THE LAP 9 ACCIDENT. “Yeah, for a while I thought we had a shot at the win.

IT WAS INTENSE RIGHT FROM THE START. WAS IT JUST GUYS WANTING TO GET AFTER IT FOLLOWING THE LONG RAIN DELAY? “Yeah, I think so. I think there were some cars that qualified near the front that aren’t used to being under that kind of pressure, so I’ll leave it at that, but it’s a little unfortunate we had to battle back that much and missed out on some stage points, but that’s how she goes.”

DESCRIBE THE COMEBACK TONIGHT. “The credit is to this team. It’s crazy to think we were able to recover like that from getting involved in almost everything and being able to dodge bullets or get scathed by a couple and then be able to make some headway there at the end and come up with a top five. I wish there weren’t so many Kaulig teammates there at the end because I feel like we could have generated some runs, but I knew no one was gonna really help me and the 20, but that’s how it goes. It’s racing. I’m happy to be able to recover like that and move on with this Pirtek team.”

HOW AGGRESSIVE WAS THE RACING TONIGHT? “It’s superspeedway racing. I think honestly the highlight of my race, other than coming home with a finish, was I think it was sometime during stage three or whatever that Ross Chastain went up to block the top and he was completely sideways full throttle and kept it in the lead. I don’t know if they caught that on TV, but it was awesome. I was just glad it didn’t turn into a wreck because I was getting collected, but overall a good night and glad to put on a good run for these Pirtek guys.”

    Driver Quotes

“It is very exciting to come back to Daytona as a race winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. That weekend was one I’ll never forget, and our performances since Dover have been really consistent. Last week, we had a chance to win again at Chicagoland, and we’ve run top-three in two of the last three events. Our plan is working; run in the top 10 and top five and we’ll be battling for wins, and that’s what we’ve done. (Crew chief) Travis Mack has made some fantastic strategy calls, including at Chicagoland, and we’re coming back to Daytona with a lot of momentum.”– Michael Annett

“JR Motorsports has such a strong restrictor-plate program and all of us work well together in the draft. Jason Burdett (crew chief) and the guys had a fast Camaro for us in the season opener and we were able to finish second to one of our teammates. Hopefully we can keep our Vannoy Construction Chevy out of trouble and improve our finishing position by one spot this weekend.”– Justin Allgaier

“It’s such an awesome opportunity to come up here and race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Daytona for a team like JR Motorsports. Their success at this place is second-tonone and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of this No. 8 Chevrolet and see what we can do in the draft on Friday. Hopefully I can work well with my teammates all night long and avoid all the trouble that can happen out there and come home with a great finish.” – Sheldon Creed

“This weekend should be a lot of fun in Daytona. We had a really fast Chevrolet at Talladega that let us run up front and win a stage and I am extremely confident that we will be just as fast this weekend. We’ve got a special patriotic look to our Switch Camaro and we have a lot of momentum on our side right now. So, if we just be smart on Friday night in the draft and work with our teammates I feel like we can keep this going and be in contention for victory when it’s all said and done.” – Noah Gragson

“Hey guys, (I’m) excited to get back home to Daytona International Speedway this weekend. I get to go back home and race in a third entry for Kaulig Racing. I can’t thank Matt Kaulig, Chris Rice and everybody enough for giving me this opportunity. The (No.) 16 car – it’s going to be something that’s never been done before. Kaulig Racing, a third car. Having teammate like AJ Allmendinger, Justin Haley and Tyler Reddick in the RCR camp to draft with is something we can build off of our previous superspeedway races. I just want to learn, hopefully have good track position all day and try to get a fourth of July victory down in Daytona.”
