Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery Takes to the NASCAR Track, June 24

Driver Stefan Parsons to Sport Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey for Xfinity Series Race at Nashville Superspeedway

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (June 14, 2023) – NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Stefan Parsons is teaming up with Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery to showcase the renowned Tennessee Whiskey brand on his suit and 07 SS GreenLight Racing Chevrolet Camaro during the highly anticipated race at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday, June 24. This collaboration marks an exciting milestone for both parties involved, as it represents the deep history between the two brands.

Whiskey enthusiasts and stock car racing fans alike would be interested to learn that the two have connected legacies. During prohibition, bootleggers would race to transport liquor, like moonshine and whiskey, to mainly rural areas in the Southeast, often working to innovate their cars to support the heavy loads and speed. In North Carolina, drivers would race through Appalachia around tight turns and over mountains to avoid police. The unique skill it took to manage the roads impressed bystanders along the way and ultimately led to the sport of stock car racing’s inception.

“Given our industries intertwining histories for nearly 90 years, a partnership with Stefan felt like a natural fit, ” said Andy Nelson, co-founder of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery. “He has an obvious and contagious passion for his craft, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know him and his story. We can’t wait to watch Stefan race the 07 Green Brier Chevy at Nashville Superspeedway on June 24th.”

Parsons, along with Nelson and his brother Charlie, also share deep family ties to their respective professions. In 2006, the Nelson brothers discovered their great-great0grandfather’s whiskey still from the 1800s and resurrected the family business. Parsons has racing in his blood from his dad, NASCAR veteran Phil Parsons, and his uncle, 1973 NASCAR Cup Series Champion and 2017 NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductee Benny Parsons.

“As a whiskey enthusiast, I was immediately drawn to the tale of the Nelsons,” said Parsons. “The significance of familial bonds within a career resonated with me, and the shared history between our two families is something I genuinely appreciate. It’s an honor to sport the beloved whiskey brand on my car and suit for this race.”

Fans can see the Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey car and Stefan’s suit at the Nashville Superspeedway June 23-25 for the Xfinity Series race. About Stefan Parsons:
Hailing from Cornelius, NC, Stefan is one of the most recognized names in the NASCAR community. A well-respected driver, Stefan comes from a famous and accomplished family of racers. His father, Phil, recorded a storied 23-year career as a NASCAR driver and currently serves as a FOX NASCAR analyst, while his uncle, Benny Parsons, is enshrined in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

When not behind the wheel, Stefan is heavily engaged in the racing business. Known for his tireless work ethic and commitment to excellence, industry leaders have taken notice of his valuable contributions to the sport, affording him opportunities at the top levels of NASCAR.

Stefan is a seasoned spokesperson, an established and proven NASCAR driver, and a media and fan favorite; all of which translate to value for brands with which he is aligned.

Parsons joined SS GreenLight Racing in 2023, debuting for the team at Richmond Raceway in April.

    About SS GreenLight Racing:
Since entering the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2015, the Mooresville, N.C.,-based team has made more than 350 starts with multiple drivers, including Cole Custer, Ross Chastain and Chase Briscoe. SS GreenLight Racing has collected one win (Fontana 2022), eight top-fives, and 23 top-10 finishes.

    About Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery:
In 2006, Andy and Charlie Nelson stumbled upon the discovery that their great-great-great grandfather, Charles Nelson, was the founder of Tennessee’s largest pre-Prohibition distillery and produced the original Tennessee Whiskey. The distillery’s history dates back to 1860 and in 2019, Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery bottled the first batch of Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey since 1909. The modern-day distillery, located at 1414 Clinton St. Nashville, TN 37203, is open to the public seven days a week and offers guided tasting experiences as well as an event space and gift and bottle shop. Sound Bites:

“I’m proud of what the No. 00 Haas Automation team did today. To start that far back in the field is not very good at this track so to get a top-10 and get up near the front was great. We drove our way up there. It’s a testament to this team and our perseverance throughout the day. We just stayed after it. It definitely could’ve gotten bad in a few of those situations, but we all kept our heads on straight and got through it to get us another solid finish.” – Cole Custer, driver of the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang

“I was hoping for a better result for the No. 98 Monster Energy team, but we finished the race, which is good after the bad luck we’ve had the past few races. We had a really strong run in the second stage to get stage points, but we just struggled in the final laps. Excited to have this off week to reset before we head to Nashville for a long stretch of summer races.” – Riley Herbst, driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang

    Next Up:

The next event on the NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule is the Tennessee Lottery 250 on Saturday, June 24 at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. The race begins at 3:30 p.m. EDT with live coverage provided by USA and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

ALMIROLA GIVES FORD SECOND STRAIGHT NXS VICTORY

    • Aric Almirola drove his Ford Mustang to victory today at Sonoma for his fourth career series win.
    • The win is Ford’s second straight in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the first for RSS Racing.

    Ford Finishing Results:
    1st – Aric Almirola
    6th – Cole Custer
    12th – Brett Moffitt
    15th – Riley Herbst
    22nd – Kyle Weatherman
    25th – Alex Labbe
    28th – Ryan Sieg
    31st – Joe Graf Jr.

ARIC ALMIROLA, No. 28 Michael Roberts Construction Ford Mustang – VICTORY LANE INTERVIEW – “This is so special. It’s hard to explain. I know it’s an Xfinity win. It’s not a Cup win, but after COTA I told Davin and Drew, I was like, ‘Man, I really don’t think I should run anymore road course races in the Xfinity car. It makes me look like a wanker and I lose self-confidence going into Sunday.’ But I knew that this racetrack, this is one I can run good at. I’ve run good here my whole career. I don’t know what it is about this place, but I love racing here. I’m just so thankful to everybody on this race team. Everybody at SHR in the Xfinity shop. They take on a lot to not only bring their two cars to the racetrack, but to prepare a third car. I’m so thankful to Mike with Michael Roberts Construction to come on. Without him and Largo Concrete, we don’t get to run this race. I’m thankful to Ford and everybody that makes this deal work. All of our partners, Shady Rays, Pit Boss Grills, Firstform. It’s been a really tough year on the Cup side and to come out here and get a win and get to celebrate. My kids came out. We’re gonna spend the week in California for our off week and they’re gonna get to go to Victory Lane. That is so special. The pictures we have at home with our family in Victory Lane mean the most to me, so I’m so excited to share this Victory Lane here. Also Caymus. We had a great dinner last night and drank a little bit of Caymus win with our team and this is their hometown, so, man, this is awesome. I can’t wait to get to Victory Lane.”

LARSON WAS ON YOUR TAIL. HOW MUCH WERE YOU LOOKING IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR? “I was looking in my rearview mirror a lot, just trying to make sure that I could maintain the gap. Larson was certainly the class of the field, so to have the lead and get some clean air, I knew that if I just put some clean laps together I was gonna make it tough for him to get by me. A great race car. We made a lot of adjustments throughout the race to make it better and better and finally there at the end it was at its best.”

HOW MUCH CONFIDENCE DOES THIS GIVE YOU FOR TOMORROW? “A lot. The cars are totally different from the Xfinity Series to the Cup Series, but it’s still a win and it’s still a win at the NASCAR national level. These races are hard to win and you’re going against the best. You’re going against Kyle Larson and Allmendinger, Ty Gibbs. It was a stacked field today for the Xfinity race and I’m just so proud to go to Victory Lane here.”

THIS IS THE FIRST WIN FOR RSS RACING. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU? “It’s awesome. I’m just really thankful that they allowed me to run this car and to come here and run with this team and these guys and I’m just so proud of everybody’s hard work. Everybody at Sieg Racing. Everybody at Stewart-Haas Racing for the collaboration and I’m just really thankful.”

    TOYOTA QUOTES

TY GIBBS, No. 19 He Gets Us Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 4th

Can you talk about your top-five finish here at Sonoma?

“Yeah, I felt like we had a really fast He Gets Us Toyota Supra. Just lost some track position in the end, and we were a little too loose for the most part. We just have to make the right adjustments to keep going. We will keep moving forward.”

SAMMY SMITH, No. 18 Pilot Flying J Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 9th

    How was your race?

“Yeah, disappointing day for our Pilot Flying J team. I felt like we had a lot of speed in our Supra, just could never get the track position. We kind of fell back on pit stops, so it was kind of frustrating. I feel like we could have run fourth or fifth all day, just never really got up there.”

ArmsList.com is America’s number one firearms classifieds website, with over 100,000 active listings! Armslist users can browse their local area for amazing face-to-face deals, sell their items in their local area, or shop nationwide from Armslist’s network of over 1300 FFL dealers!

ArmsList.com was founded in 2007 as a place where like-minded, freedom-loving, pro-Second Amendment Americans could buy, sell and trade firearms, ammo, accessories and more after its founder experienced firsthand how popular marketplace sites on the Internet had begun to shun firearms and firearms-related items.

ArmsList.com is a simple, easy to use, non-intrusive firearms classifieds website with only a nominal monthly fee. Unlike its competitors, Armslist does not have any sale or listing fees! You can buy, sell and trade as much as you like!

ArmsList.com is stronger than ever, and we have only our loyal user base and its enthusiasm for freedom, the Second Amendment, and our beloved Constitution to thank! We are excited to continue to provide our users with new and improved ways to safely and effectively exercise their rights in the months and years to come!

Safety First: Whether you are brand new to firearms or you’ve been around them your entire life, it is always good to brush up on the 4 Cardinal Rules of Gun Safety, and to teach them to others:

    1. Treat all guns as if they are loaded.
    2. Never let the muzzle point at anything you are not willing to destroy.
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to fire.
    4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

For more details, and more gun safety rules to follow, be sure to check out the NSSF’s article on Firearm Safety here.

Portland International Raceway | Pacific Automation 147 Race Recap: In the most recent NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Portland International Raceway, Joe Graf Jr. and the RSS Racing team attempted to conquer their second road course of the 2023 season.

After a mediocre practice result, Graf successfully qualified for the race on his qualifying time for the second consecutive season, lining up his No. 38 ArmsList.com Ford Mustang 33rd on the starting grid.

An unapproved adjustment by NASCAR sent the former ARCA Menards Series winner to the rear of the field for the start of the race, however, throughout the race, Graf methodically maneuvered forward and even recovered from a Stage 1 spin to finish a respectable 23rd in the trails of Oregon.

Sneaker Mania: Along with the adrenaline of the Motorsports competition, Joe Graf Jr. also has a vogue for hype sneakers. In his current collection, he owns and wears at least 90 limited edition sneakers – and his collection continues to grow monthly.

The current estimated value of his collection tops $100,000.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Steve Addington is Joe Graf Jr.’s crew chief.

He will be crew chief for his 277th NASCAR Xfinity Series race as crew chief on Saturday and his first on the 12-turn road course.

In his previous 276 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected 11 wins, 10 poles, 68 top-five and 118 top-10 finishes.

Hello From The Other Side: Graf Jr. has three teammates at RSS Racing.

Veteran Ryan Sieg will drive the No. 39 CMRroofing.com Ford Mustang, Cup invader Aric Almirola will attempt his second Xfinity Series race of the season aboard the No. 28 RSS Racing Ford Mustang, while Canadian standout Alex Labbe will drive the No. 29 RSS Racing Ford Mustang.

    Joe Graf Jr. Quoteboard:

On Sonoma Raceway: “I have no idea what to expect for Sonoma. I’m being completely honest. Thankfully, we have an extended practice on Friday afternoon that will allow us to focus on dialing in our No. 38 ArmsList.com Ford Mustang and then focus on qualifying Saturday afternoon and then the race.

“I feel like I have taken all the necessary steps from a driver’s perspective to prepare for my Sonoma debut. Thankfully, with the addition of Aric (Almirola) as part of the RSS Racing fleet this weekend, I feel like I can open up and talk to him for tips and guidance throughout the weekend.

“I’d love to head into the off-week with another solid finish for our No. 38 RSS Racing team.”

On The 2023 Season: “We started the year off really strong between RSS Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing, but unfortunately we’ve had a few setbacks the last couple of weeks that has broken up the momentum.

“Rebounding in Charlotte and hanging on for a solid effort at Portland, I know we just have to survive this stretch of upcoming road courses and street course in between Nashville, Atlanta and New Hampshire and hope we’ll find a rhythm that will allow us to continue to accelerate.

“Hopefully, Sonoma will continue the re-righting of our year and put our season back on track. We are definitely capable of it; we just need everything to come together.

“I just need to continue to stay focused, communicate with my team and utilize the knowledge that I’ve gained over the past three years to recover and have my best Xfinity Series season yet.”

    NASCAR Xfinity Series Overview

    • Event: DoorDash 250 (Round 14 of 33)
    • Date: Saturday, June 10
    • Location: Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway
    • Layout: 1.99-mile, 12-turn road course
    • Time/TV/Radio: 8 p.m. EDT on FS1/PRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio

    Cole Custer Notes of Interest

    • Cole Custer is headed to Saturday’s inaugural DoorDash 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway hunting for back-to-back wins. He scored his first win of the season last Saturday at Portland (Ore.) International Raceway and punched his ticket to the 2023 Xfinity Series Playoffs. It was a welcome momentum boost for Custer and the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang team for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) as they head to a second consecutive road-course race. Custer has been on a hot streak the past seven races, posting an average finish of 3.7 and finishing fifth or better in six of the seven events. With the uncertainties of points racing into the playoffs set aside, Custer can focus on parking his Ford Mustang in victory lane for the next 13 regular-season races until the playoffs begin Sept. 15 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
    • While Saturday’s DoorDash 250 will be the first Xfinity Series race at Sonoma, Custer can claim a leg up on his fellow fulltime competitors. The native of Ladera Ranch, California, has two starts at the track in the NASCAR Cup Series and three in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. His best Cup Series finish at Sonoma was 20th in June 2021, and his best K&N Series finish was fourth in June 2019. He’ll get additional seat time at the 1.99-mile, 12-turn road course as he’s also competing in Friday’s ARCA Menards Series West race in the No. 55 Ford Mustang for High Point Racing. He drove that same car to a runner-up finish last weekend at Portland.
    • Win and you’re in. That’s the mentality of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs. In the past seven races, Custer was able to elevate himself from 10th in the driver standings to fourth, and he has secured his spot in the 12-driver playoff field with his victory. His eyes are now set on the regular-season championship, where he currently sits 65 points behind leader John Hunter Nemechek. Custer is up for the challenge as he can focus on preparing for the playoffs and collecting more wins in the final 13 regular-season races.

    Riley Herbst Notes of Interest

    • Riley Herbst looks to showcase his road-course racing skills during Saturday’s second consecutive Xfinity Series West-Coast road-course race during the DoorDash 250 at Sonoma. The driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang for SHR came out of the gates strong in last Saturday’s Portland 147 at Portland (Ore.) International Raceway and ran in the top-10 for a majority of the race. Engine problems in the final stage forced him to retire early from the 75-lap race, however. Herbst has been strong on road courses the past two seasons. In this year’s March 25 race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, he earned a career-best COTA finish of 10th. He hopes to rebound from the bad luck at Portland and start anew at Sonoma.
    • While Saturday’s race at Sonoma will be the first at the track for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Herbst does have one start there in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. In June 2016, at the age of 17, Herbst started 10th and finished the 64-lap race fifth in the No. 19 car for owner Bill McAnally.
    • Like his teammate Custer, Herbst will also participate in Friday’s ARCA Menards Series West race at Sonoma. He will be piloting the No. 5 Ford Mustang for owner Jerry Pitts for the second week in a row. In last week’s race at Portland, Herbst started sixth and was one of only three drivers to lead the race, Custer being one of the others. Herbst led 17 laps and appeared to be on his way the win when a blown engine ended his day.

Cole Custer, Driver of the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang

You’ve had experience at Sonoma in the NASCAR Cup Series and K&N Pro Series West. What’s your mindset for Sonoma as you return for the first time in the Xfinity Series?

“Sonoma is a cool track, but it’s one of those places where you have to learn that you can’t overdrive it. If you can get into the corner good, that means a lot at any road course, but especially Sonoma. The moment you start overdriving it and missing corners, you put yourself in a bad position. It not only makes you lose time, but you’re also wearing out your tires. It’ll really hurt you. Sonoma is all about trying to manage your tires and being there at the end. As a driver, you have to be disciplined.”

You scored your first Xfinity Series win of the 2023 season and your first on a road course last weekend at Portland. Talk about the win and what kind of confidence it gives you as we head to another road course.

“I knew going into that last restart that there was an opportunity to sneak through calamity. I just made sure I made it, and then I tried to be smart. Ultimately, everyone was equal on speed and performance, so it was about being able to finish, just like any road course. There was a bunch of relief when I crossed the finish line on Saturday. As a team, we’ve expected to win a lot going into this year and it hasn’t always gone our way. The win was such a big deal for myself and the team. Road courses in general have always been solid for me, but I feel like it just never worked out perfectly. You have to have everything go right to win this style of racing. I’m excited to head to another road course this weekend and go for another win.”

Riley Herbst, Driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang

Portland did not go as planned, but you had a good run going until the engine issue near the end of the race. How do you keep your confidence up after so much bad luck has been thrown your way?

“I won’t lie, it’s tough. We’ve had fast cars each and every week, but the results just haven’t been there for us. It’s a series of bad luck, but at the end of the day, you have to realize that it’s a long season. We still have plenty of time to turn it around, and hopefully that’s just what the No. 98 Monster Energy team will do at Sonoma. I’m excited to head there and get some extra time in the ARCA Menards Series West car to try and help me on Saturday. We’re taking it one race at a time, so we’re focused on this weekend in Sonoma.”

While you’ve never been to Sonoma in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, you do have some experience in the K&N Pro Series West. How do these starts help you learn a new track where you only have one Xfinity Series practice session?

“It helps a lot to have that extra time on the track in other series. I haven’t raced at Sonoma since 2016 in the K&N Pro Series West, so this, along with the full practice session on Friday, will help me learn and prepare. We haven’t really had a lot of full practice sessions since the pandemic, so it’s nice to get these when we can. I know Sonoma can be a tricky road course, so we’ve been working hard to prepare for it. Hopefully, we can have a good run this weekend.”

    • Sam Mayer heads to Sonoma Raceway this Saturday for his first NASCAR Xfinity Series start on the 1.99-mile road course in the California hills.

    • After last weekend’s effort, Mayer now has a total of two top-five and five top-10 finishes on road courses, with his best coming last weekend at Portland.
    • Crew chief Mardy Lindley has one Truck start at Sonoma and came home with a victory atop the pit box last season.

    • His inaugural trip to Sonoma’s wine-country circuit constitutes the eighth road course that Berry will compete on in his NXS career.
    • Berry maintained fifth place in the current standings, just 91 points behind the leader.

    Brandon Jones
    No. 9 Menards/Patriot Lighting Chevrolet

    • Brandon Jones will make his first career start at the 1.99- mile road course in Sonoma as the NXS makes its wine country debut.

    Justin Allgaier
No. 7 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet

    • Justin Allgaier heads into this weekend’s NXS event at Sonoma on the strength of four consecutive top-three finishes dating back to Dover Motor Speedway last month.
    • Allgaier is no stranger to the road course in the Northern California hills, having made two previous starts in the NASCAR Cup Series at Sonoma in 2014-15.
    • Overall in his NXS career on road courses, Allgaier has scored a combined three wins, 15 top fives and 28 top 10s in 46 starts.
    • In the two road-course races already run this season in the NXS, Allgaier has earned two top fives, with a best finish of second coming this past weekend in Portland.

    Driver Quotes

“I am excited to bring our No. 1 Accelerate Professional Talent Solutions Chevrolet to Sonoma for the first time, especially coming off of a great third-place finish at Portland. My guys have worked so hard on these road course cars and I know we have the chance to have an awesome finish this weekend. Hopefully, we can put it all together this weekend and be in contention to battle for the win.” – Sam Mayer

“Returning to Sonoma will be a fun challenge this weekend. This is such unique road course that definitely keeps you on your toes. We had an unbelievable BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet last weekend on the road course in Portland, and I feel extremely confident that we will have that same speed again this weekend. I know that Jim (Pohlman, crew chief) and all the guys on this No. 7 team have been working their tails off out here this week and are ready to get after it. Hopefully, we can keep all four tires on the course and be one spot better than last week at the checkered flag.” – Justin Allgaier

“We had a great Tire Pros Chevrolet at Portland last week, and I expect that Taylor (Moyer, crew chief) and the guys will have an equally good car for this weekend at Sonoma. It’ll be different this weekend, never having raced at Sonoma before in the Xfinity Series, but we have a little momentum and this weekend would be a great chance to keep the pressure on and move up the order. I have a lot of fun on the road courses, and I’m looking forward to adding another track.” – Josh Berry

“I’m really looking forward to Sonoma this weekend. It’s a new track for the series and a really cool place to race. We were pretty good in Portland last week, but it was hard to pass. I know this team is going to work hard throughout the week to bring that same speed this weekend, so hopefully, we can have a good race and be there at the end of it.” – Brandon Jones
