SUNOCO Go Rewards 200 at The Glen to be the Centerpiece of Saturday’s NASCAR action

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (August 16, 2022) – Watkins Glen International today announced long-time NASCAR and track partner Sunoco as the entitlement partner for this month’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race as the SUNOCO Go Rewards 200, which will take place on Saturday, August 20.

Sunoco has been the Official Fuel of NASCAR since 2004, providing fuel for all three NASCAR national series. In fact, more than 20 million NASCAR miles have been driven on Sunoco Green E15 fuel.

“We’re proud to have a prominent brand and long-time partner such as Sunoco associated with our NASCAR Xfinity Series race at The Glen,” said Watkins Glen International president Michael Printup. “Some of the most recognizable names in NASCAR have won this race at Watkins Glen since the Xfinity Series first came to the track in 1991, so it only makes sense that one of the most known brands in NASCAR is now on the trophy they’ll take home.”

The NASCAR Xfinity Series first came to Watkins Glen in 1991, and NASCAR Hall of Famer Terry Labonte tallied the first of his four Xfinity Series wins at the track in the debut. Since then, the series has raced 27 times at The Glen, with 16 different drivers posting wins in the race. Marcos Ambrose is tied with Labonte for the most wins at four apiece.

“This event is the perfect opportunity to introduce fans to our new loyalty based mobile app, Sunoco Go Rewards, which gives members savings on fuel,” said Director of Marketing Fred McConnell. “Watkins Glen sits in the heart of the Sunoco footprint, and we are proud to present the Sunoco Go Rewards 200 to NASCAR fans and our customers.”

Sunoco Go Rewards allows users to earn a discount of three cents per gallon every time they fuel up. Fuel up just twice a month to keep your discount going; the more you fuel, the more you save. Download the app to find your closest participating Sunoco station.

Ty Gibbs, who currently leads the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings with five wins on the season, will return to Watkins Glen to defend his victory from a year ago on the historic Central New York road course. Recent previous winners of the Xfinity Series race at The Glen include this year’s Daytona 500 champion Austin Cindric (2021), 2018 NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano (2015, 2016, 2018) and two-time Cup champion Kyle Busch (2017).

The NASCAR Xfinity Series will compete on Saturday, August 20, in the SUNOCO Go Rewards 200 at The Glen, and the Go Bowling at The Glen NASCAR Cup Series race will cap off the weekend on Sunday, August 21.

Sunday’s race will help the NASCAR Cup Series set the field for the Playoffs, as only one race will remain in the regular season following the road course battle in New York. Kyle Larson, the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, won last year’s Go Bowling at The Glen race.

  • Austin Wayne Self to Attempt NASCAR Xfinity Series Debut at Watkins Glen

Austin Wayne Self to Attempt NASCAR Xfinity Series Debut at Watkins Glen

STATESVILLE, N.C. (August 15, 2022) – Jordan Anderson Racing (JAR) Bommarito Autosport in a collaborative effort with AM Racing confirmed today that NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran Austin Wayne Self will attempt to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in Saturday’s race at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

Self, the brother-in-law to team owner Jordan Anderson will pilot a second entry for the Statesville, N.C.-based team in the penultimate Xfinity Series road course race of the season.

The former ARCA Menards Series Rookie of the Year will serve as a teammate to the organization’s full-time driver Myatt Snider aboard the No. 32 AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet Camaro in the August 20th race.

“I am very thankful for this opportunity with Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport,” said Self. “Anyone that knows me how much I enjoy road course racing and to have the opportunity to attempt to make my Xfinity Series debut driving for my wife’s brother’s team is incredibly special.”

Self’s longtime Truck Series supporter AM Technical Solutions will serve as the primary marketing partner for the 22nd Xfinity Series race of the season.

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, AM Technical Solutions (AMTS) was founded in 1994.

AM Technical Solutions is a Global Architecture, Engineering & Construction firm specializing in the high-tech markets. AMTS has managed over $20B of global capital projects for over 170 different customers in 24 countries and across five continents.

“It truly means a lot to not only have the support of AM Technical Solutions but all of my marketing partners from our NASCAR Camping World Truck Series program that have leaped aboard for Watkins Glen.

“From AMTS to GO TEXAN, Don’t mess with Texas program, Flying Circle, AIRBOX Air Purifiers and CForce – it’s incredibly humbling to have their extended support and to revive one of our older Truck Series paint schemes for Watkins Glen.”

In Self’s Truck Series debut at Watkins Glen last summer, he started 20th and finished on the lead lap in 16th in the lightning-shorten race in the Finger Lakes region of New York.

This weekend, Self, 26, hopes for similar results.

“We have to qualify for the race on speed, but I am confident with the car and crew we have put together for this race that we can have a successful debut with our No. 32 AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet Camaro,” added Self.

“Hopefully, we can see that checkered flag wave on Saturday afternoon and give us a little momentum to hold over until the Truck Series resumes action at Kansas Speedway next month.”

Should Self earn one of the 38 starting positions for the 82-lap race, it will be the first race this season that JAR Bommarito Autosport has fielded two entries in an Xfinity Series race.

Self’s current Truck Series crew chief Jamie Jones will serve as crew chief for the Xfinity Series endeavor.

“To have Austin attempt to make his Xfinity Series debut for JAR Bommarito Autosport at Watkins Glen in the No. 32 Chevrolet Camaro will be a special day for our race team and for our family,” stated JAR Bommarito Autosport president Jordan Anderson.

“Austin has really been working on his road course skills the last few years, and he has what it takes to make his first Xfinity Series start and the first start for the JAR Bommarito Autosport No. 32 team. Being former competitors on track in the Truck Series, this will be the first time we have worked closely together as a team.

“I’m excited to get to the track and get to work.”

In addition to the Xfinity Series race, Self will return to the ARCA Menards Series where he’ll also compete in Friday afternoon’s race at the 2.450-mile road course piloting the No. 32 AIRBOX Air Purifier | Janitronics Chevrolet in the General Tire Delivers 100.

Self will make his 51st ARCA Menards Series start on Friday, Aug. 19 and the first since last summer at WGI. In five career ARCA road course events, he has delivered four top-10 finishes and maintains a solid average finish of 11.2.

Additional Xfinity Series races for Self are forthcoming.

Justin Haley to Make NASCAR Xfinity Series Return at Daytona

Kaulig Racing Fielding Fourth Entry in Wawa 250

LEXINGTON, N.C. (August 8, 2022) – Defending winner of the two, most recent Wawa 250 races, Justin Haley will make his return to NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) action with Kaulig Racing at Daytona International Speedway, as the team fields a fourth entry, the No. 14 Chevrolet.

Haley, who earned his first-ever NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) win at Daytona in 2019, recorded four wins for Kaulig Racing in the NXS, including the last two summer races at Daytona.

“I’m so excited to have the opportunity to come back to the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing!” Said Haley. “In a way, it feels like this is my bread and butter, especially at Daytona, one of my favorite tracks. Together, we had three, successful Xfinity Series seasons at Kaulig Racing that transpired into a great first, full season so far in the Cup Series.”

Haley is Kaulig Racing’s longest-tenured driver and is currently the team’s first, full-time driver in the NCS. So far in the 2022 season, Haley has earned one top five, two top 10s and nine top-15 finishes.

“Having four of our five wins at superspeedway tracks in the Xfinity Series, there was no question that given an opportunity for a fourth entry, we would bring back Justin Haley!” said team owner, Matt Kaulig. “For the past few years, our drivers have meshed so well together, especially on these types of tracks, and Justin Haley has been a huge part of our success as a team.”

Kaulig Racing and superspeedways have become synonymous, having five total wins since 2019 on superspeedways alone and showing how a team can work together until the very end.

“We are super excited to have Justin Haley back behind the wheel of a Xfinity car,” said Chris Rice, President of Kaulig Racing. “He has been a big part of how strong our cars have been on superspeedways, and this is a great opportunity for us to show how strong both Chevrolet and Kaulig Racing can be.”

Haley will look to qualify his way into The Wawa 250 in Kaulig Racing’s No. 14 Chevrolet on August 27. A partner announcement will be made at a later date.

Monster Energy Driver Scores 14th Top-10 of Season and Second Straight

    Date: Saturday, Aug. 6

    Event: Michigan 250 (Round 21 of 33)

    Series: NASCAR Xfinity Series

Location: Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn (2-mile oval)

Format: 125 laps, broken into three stages (30 laps/30 laps/65 laps)

    Start/Finish: 13th / 9th (Running, completed 125 of 125 laps)

Point Standing: 8th (583 points, 252 out of first)

Race Winner: Ty Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing (Toyota)

Stage 1 Winner: Noah Gragson of JR Motorsports (Chevrolet)

Stage 2 Winner: Noah Gragson of JR Motorsports (Chevrolet)

    Overview:

Riley Herbst drove his No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang to another top-10 finish Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. By finishing ninth in the 125-lap race around the 2-mile oval, Herbst scored his 14th top-10 in the 21 NASCAR Xfinity Series races held this season. It was also his second straight top-10, as the 23-year-old racer from Las Vegas finished sixth last Saturday on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In fact, this was Herbst’s second consecutive top-10 at Michigan. He finished seventh in last year’s race. Despite those solid statistics, Herbst was disappointed with his run. His No. 98 machine was too loose coming off the track’s sweeping corners but too tight in the center. By the time Herbst and the team got a better handle on their racecar, the race was over.

Riley Herbst, driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

“We just struggled with balance all day. It sucks we ran this bad but, all in all, another top-10. We’ll move onto The Glen.”

    Notes:

    ● Ty Gibbs won the Michigan 250 to score his ninth career Xfinity Series victory, his fifth of the season and his first at Michigan. His margin over second-place Justin Allgaier was 1.160 seconds.

    ● There were four caution periods for a total of 19 laps.

    ● Only 12 of the 38 drivers in the race finished on the lead lap.

    ● AJ Allmendinger remains the championship leader after Michigan with a 19-point advantage over second-place Allgaier.

    Next Up:

The NASCAR Xfinity Series enjoys a rare off-weekend before returning to action on Aug. 20 at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International. The race starts at 3 p.m. EDT with live coverage provided by USA and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

    TOYOTA QUOTES

TY GIBBS, No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 1st

How strong was your race car today?

“We had a very fast Monster Energy GR Supra. I’m so excited. I think this style of racing shows the strategy and the pit stops. It’s pretty spread out. But my guys did a great job and the pit crew worked so hard. I workout with them during the week and I see how hard they work, every one of them. They do a great job and my cousin is pitting now too so it’s cool to see my family involved. All glory to God and thank you to my team, Monster Energy, TRD, Sport Clips, Interstate Batteries. My car was faster than Xfinity high speed internet, just kidding it wasn’t that fast.”

Why kind of momentum does this give you for the Playoffs and does this performance make you a favorite?

“I don’t know, it depends on who you look at. I just race week in and week out, but people can get all excited and think they’re making a huge statement and then go into Playoffs and suck. I’m just doing what I do week in and week out.”

Do your laps in the Cup car help you for this race?

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity and I hope Kurt (Busch) gets better. But at the end of the day it doesn’t really help me. It’s so different and the way the car is different. You think these drive different, just wait until you get to the Cup Series.”

How important was clean air in this race?

“Clean air is great air. We definitely had a very fast Monster Energy GR Supra. First of all, have to say all glory to Jesus. Thank you for this opportunity. It’s super cool to win here at Michigan, second time to win here and it’s super cool to win here. My guys did such a great job and I know how hard they work, I workout with them during the week. They work so hard. I’m very thankful to be part of an organization that motivates me like that week in and week out. Maybe not motivates because that’s temporary, but relentless and I feel like that’s what they showed me.”

What was your progression like throughot the afternoon to stay up front?

“My guys did such a great job on strategy and thank you for that. Thank you to TRD, we feel like we have a simulator that’s really close so it’s helping us out on these tracks. They work really hard over there so thank you to everyone that gets the simulator ready. Thank you to all my crew and maybe we can go win a Cup race tomorrow.”

BRANDON JONES, No. 19 Criterion Appliances/Menards Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

    Finishing Position: 4th

How does it feel to get a top-five finish today?

“It’s a little frustrating too because we came into this race with the mentality that we were going to win this one. In the practice session, I thought we had a car capable of winning. He (Ty Gibbs) was one of the cars that I thought would be competitive, but I also think there were a few more on my list too. We didn’t run with all those guys like we thought we would, we kind of ran at the back of those guys. We missed our balance just by a little bit, but it didn’t take much today. We just needed a little bit more turn off to be better, but all in all I think this is a good momemtum builder. I haven’t had a top-five since our Martinsville win so it’s nice to be back on track with these and then have a weekend off before Watkins Glen.”

Joe Graf Jr. | SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt Michigan International Speedway August Event Preview

SS Greenlight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt | NASCAR Xfinity Series
Michigan International Speedway | New Holland 250

    Fast Facts

No. 07 SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt Team:
    Driver: Joe Graf Jr. (@JoeGrafJr)
Primary Partner(s): Bucked Up Blood Raz Energy Drink
    Manufacturer: Ford Mustang
    Crew Chief: Joe Williams
    2022 Driver Points Position: 27th | 2022 Owner Points Position: 20th
    Engine: Roush Yates Engines (RYE)

    Notes of Interest:

Welcome Back Joe: After stepping out of the No. 07 SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt Ford Mustang for the past two NASCAR Xfinity Series races at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course to attend to a personal matter, Joe Graf Jr. returns to the cockpit for his 84th career Xfinity Series start in the Irish Hills of Michigan.

Full of Energy: Bucked Up Energy Drink and its sister products will continue their role as the primary partner of Graf’s No. 07 Ford Mustang this weekend.

Michigan International Speedway is the 14th race of 2022 and 45th race overall in a multi-year, multi-race deal with the former ARCA Menards Series winner.

For the second time this year, the team will promote Bucked Up Energy’s Blood Raz flavor.

Blood Raz tastes like Inception — or literally any Chris Nolan film — you know it’s brilliant, but you can’t figure out why. I can tell you Blood Raz is a watermelon flavor and you’ll taste sweet summer days by the barbecue.

Or we can say it’s Raspberry and you’ll recall that succulent jam you got from the nice old couple at the farmer’s market.

Blood Raz manages to be sweet, succulent, and tart. And it’s sugar-free. That’s right. Zero sugars. Drink up and taste that ambiguous goodness.

About Bucked Up Energy: Bucked Up started in 2013 when twin brothers Ryan and Jeff Gardner started marketing a product called Deer Antler Spray. After selling thousands of bottles to GNCs nationwide, the company morphed into what is now Bucked Up, a full-fledged vitamins and supplements manufacturer.

The company has gone from its humble beginnings to becoming the No. 1 best-selling pre-workout brand that’s available in over 10,000 stores worldwide.

Plenty Of Other Bucked Up Products Available Too: Don’t forget that Bucked Up Energy now offers more than 10 quenching options, but several of their popular flavors include Rocket Pop, Gym ‘N’ Juice, Mango Tango and Pink Lemonade now include low-stim options.

Low-stim has the same innovative ingredients that make their OG formula so powerful for focus, mood, motivation and energy. Bucked Up made just one small change and they have been surprised by the resulting epicness.

Boasting a modest of 100mg of caffeine, Bucked Up Low-Stim delivers the same energy, focus, mood, motivation – while reducing the common side effects that come from too-much caffeine, jitters, sleeplessness and anxiety.

Thanks For Your Support: With more than 60 percent of the 2022 Xfinity Series season complete, Joe Graf Jr. and SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt would like to thank their associate marketing partners AVOID, Bass Reaper Bait Company, CoverSeal, EAT SLEEP RACE Apparel, fgrACCEL, G-Coin, Gtechniq, HazHeart, Model Electronics and ShopRite for their continued support.

Catch Him On The Dial: Before Joe Graf Jr. straps into his No. 07 Bucked Up Blood Raz Energy Drink Ford Mustang on Saturday afternoon, the SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt driver will be featured on “The Frontstretch” on SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90 with host Pat Patterson LIVE on Saturday morning, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. ET.

Graf will also spotlight Bucked Up LFG Burn in several commercial spots during the four-hour program from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Coming Soon Races for Faces: Thinking ahead to this fall, Joe Graf Jr. is readily preparing for his involvement in this year’s myFace’s Races for Faces, an event to raise awareness for myFace, an organization that helps kids and families living with craniofacial differences.

In the coming weeks, Graf will announce his campaign for “Team Graf” allowing the NASCAR industry to join him in his mission to give back to the organization in their 10th anniversary.

After being held virtually for the past two years because of COVID-19, this year’s Races for Faces will be held in person on Sun., Sept. 18, 2022, at Pier 62 at Hudson River Park in New York City.

Sponsor of the Month: Ahead of their upcoming second race as the primary partner of Joe Graf Jr. in August at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Graf is spending the month of July promoting Gtechniq, a leader in automotive protective coatings products

In 2004, scientists at Gtechniq created a superior line of products aimed at perfecting all vehicle surfaces. And over the last 20 years, these products have been continually improved to provide a range that outshines and outlasts the competition.

Gtechniq’s line of surface preparation and finishing products are designed to clean, polish, and protect all automotive exteriors, in a way no traditional wax applications can match.

Stay tuned to Joe Graf Jr.’s social media channels for not only a behind the scenes environment with Gtechniq, but the chance to win some swag too!

Joe Graf Jr. Xfinity Series Michigan International Speedway Stats: Joe Graf Jr. will make his second NASCAR Xfinity Series start at the 2.0-mile oval in the New Holland 250.

Last summer, Graf was running in the top-10 with his No. 07 Power Weld car but was involved in a restart accident on Lap 36 that ended his Michigan International Speedway debut prematurely.

Joe Graf Jr. Xfinity Series Career Speedway Stats: At tracks classified as a speedway, Graf has competed in 43 NASCAR Xfinity Series races. He holds an average starting position of 26.1 and an average result of 25.9.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway | Crayon 200: In Joe Graf Jr.’s most recent NASCAR Xfinity Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last month, Graf and the SSGLRwJL team showcased the No. 07 G-Coin Ford Mustang in the highly anticipated return to the “Magic Mile.”

Graf impressed right away by delivering a top-five effort in practice but started the race at the rear of the field for unapproved adjustments.

Throughout the race, Graf Jr. methodically worked his way through the field and captured a lead lap and noteworthy 12th-place finish. It was his best finish on a non-superspeedway this season.

In the Xfinity Series’ most recent race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, Chase Briscoe wheeled the No. 07 Production Alliance Group | Bucked Up Energy Drink Ford Mustang to a top-five finish in the Pennzoil 150.

Sneaker Mania: Along with the adrenaline of the Motorsports competition, Joe Graf Jr. also has a vogue for hype sneakers. In his current collection, he owns and wears at least 90 limited edition sneakers – and his collection continues to grow every month.

The current estimated value of his collection tops $100,000.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Joe Williams is Joe Graf Jr.’s crew chief.

He will crew chief his 86th NASCAR Xfinity Series race as crew chief on Saturday afternoon and his first at the track nestled in Brooklyn, Michigan.

In his previous 85 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected one win (Auto Club Speedway | February 2022), seven top-five and 20 top-10 finishes.

Hello From The Other Side: Graf Jr. has a teammate at SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt. Veteran David Starr will drive the No. 08 Special Report with Brett Baier | TicketSmarter Ford Mustang on Saturday afternoon for his 11th Xfinity start of the 2022 season.

Starr is set to make his 245th career NASCAR Xfinity Series start and sixth at Michigan. His best Xfinity track finish occurred in the 2017 Irish Hills 250, where he finished 21st after starting 38th for B.J. McLeod Motorsports (BJMM).

    Joe Graf Jr. Pre-Race Quotes:

On Michigan International Speedway: “I’ve always enjoyed competing at Michigan, especially with success there in the ARCA Menards Series. I’m glad to be back behind the wheel of the No. 07 Bucked Up Blood Raz Energy Drink Ford Mustang after stepping away to handle a personal matter.

“The outreach of support from the fans and the team has been overwhelming, but I am just looking forward to climbing back behind the wheel of our SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt Ford Mustang and picking up right where we left off at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last month.

“Michigan is such a great place to race. It’s a bumpy race track where the speeds are incredible but it’s so huge it allows for great racing.

“I’d love to get ourselves another top-10 and finish what we started there in the NASCAR Xfinity Series from last summer.”

On Goals For Second Half of 2022: “We made some strides during the first half of the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season but there is certainly room for improvement.

“We have showcased a lot of speed throughout the season so far, but our second half of the year is focused on execution. If we can continue to carry that speed and follow through with the execution – we should be able to turn some heads with some strong and solid finishes.”
