  • A Pair of Podium Finishes for Tracy Hines at I-96 & Angell Park

A Pair of Podium Finishes for Tracy Hines at I-96 & Angell Park

NEW CASTLE, Ind.— June 24, 2013— Tracy Hines has been strong on the big tracks with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series this season. Same goes for his program on the small tracks with the Honda USAC National Midget Dirt Championship. A pair of races over the weekend saw the same results as he recorded podium finishes in both a sprint car and midget on successive nights at I-96 Speedway in Michigan, and Angell Park Speedway in Wisconsin.

Hines led a total of 13 laps on Sunday, June 23 at the historic Angell Park, which is located just outside of Madison, Wis., in Sun Prairie. He started on the outside of the front row and took the lead for the first time on the fifth lap from Rico Abreu. Hines would pace the field for two laps before Caleb Armstrong took the top spot, though his night would end three laps later with mechanical trouble. This would hand the lead back to Hines who would stay out front until a lap-22 restart, when Abreu powered around him on the high side of the third-mile. Darren Hagen would then slip by Hines as well, who would end up third in the Parker Machinery/Powered by Toyota Spike.

Hines was sixth-fastest in time trials of the 26 drivers that toured Angell Park Speedway. He followed that up with a runner-up finish in the third heat race to punch his ticket into the 30-lap main event, which was a tri-sanctioned race for the Honda USAC National Midget Series, POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and Badger Midget Auto Racing Association.

“We really didn’t need that last yellow,” said Hines. “I was running my race down low and was really making him (Abreu) have to go where I was not. He was obviously really good up top and the bottom of the track ended up going away late in the race. We always want to win, but a third is good, especially after having bad luck on the last night of Indiana Midget Week. We’ll just keep plugging away on our dirt midget program and try to get a little quicker each time we go to the track.”

At I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., on Saturday, June 22, Hines finished third in the 30-lap main event for the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series aboard the Hansen’s Welding Inc./Motor City Auto Transport DRC. The 2002 series champion lined up 10th and steadily worked his way forward. A couple of late race restarts bunched the field up and allowed Hines an opportunity to pick up a couple of more spots. On the final circuit, he dove under Dave Darland to take third as they came off the fourth turn.

“I-96 is definitely a fast place,” he noted. “The bottom of the track really came in and were able to pick off quite a few guys that were running the top. I was kind of surprised that we were able to get going as well we were and gain so many spots with how fast the track was. After having some trouble earlier in the night during qualifying to end up third was a decent night for us.”

The Tony Hulman Classic for the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series at the Terre Haute Action Track, which was scheduled for Friday, June 21, fell to rain after time trials. Hines qualified 10th of the 23 entries for the event, which was originally postponed by rain last month.

Hines is currently seventh in the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series standings. He has won twice this season and has five top-10 finishes. The veteran driver is sixth in points with the Honda USAC National Midget Dirt Championship, just 20 markers out of the top-five. He’ll return to action next weekend at Pikes Peak (Colo.) International Raceway in a doubleheader for the USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Series and the Honda USAC National Midget Series Pavement Championship.

“The next few weeks are going to be very busy that’s for sure,” said Hines. “We’ll take advantage of the time we have this week to kind of get ahead before we go to Pikes Peak. Then when we get back, we’ll have a few races and it will be (Indiana) Sprint Week. As a driver this is the time of the year you look forward to, though as a mechanic and car owner it can definitely be a taxing time, so you have to be as prepared as you can and keep after the little things.”

  • OSCAAR PR – Preview: OSCAAR Modifieds Invade Delaware

OSCAAR PR – Preview: OSCAAR Modifieds Invade Delaware

The OSCAAR Modifieds return to Delaware Speedway Friday night for their third career trip, marking a homecoming of sorts for a number of drivers. The 30-lap event will pit some former Delaware Speedway Modified regulars, and current FT Garage Late Model drivers, against a number of OSCAAR regulars. The competition will be fierce as a number of story lines are apparent heading in to the event.

    Family Foes

The McLean family has proven once again to be at the top of the modified class so far this season as Gary McLean (No.8) won the season opener on May 19 while Brent McLean (No. 7) won the second round at Barrie Speedway last Saturday. Both drivers finished as the runner-up to one another in the respective events. Gary swept the pair of OSCAAR visits to Delaware in 2012 and will look to continue his winning ways this week.

Brian McLean (No. 47), Uncle to Brent and Cousin to Gary, made his first start of the year at Barrie, but battled an overheating problem and suffered a DNF. Brian also earned a win in 2012 at Peterborough Speedway and will look to get on the podium at Delaware for the first time on Friday.

    Hometown Advantage

A mix of four current and former Delaware regulars will make their OSCAAR season debuts as well. Barry Newman (No. 1) won multiple championships as part of Delaware’s weekly modified division, including the final championship in 2011. Newman made three starts with OSCAAR last season, including both races at Delaware, and finished second to Gary McLean twice. He will look to get in to victory lane for the first time in over a calendar year.

Justin Demelo (No. 82) makes his season modified debut at his home track. The current FT Garage Late Model regular is a modified veteran who earned a trio of top-five finishes with OSCAAR last season. Demelo will be hungry to get the victory at home after falling just short on two occasions last season.

Nine-time Delaware modified champion Jamie Cox (No. 3) will make his second career OSCAAR start. Cox already has two weekly late model wins at Delaware this season and clearly knows his way around the storied ½-mile oval. He should be in contention for a win at the end of 30-laps if all goes well.

Shawn Thompson (No. 72) will make his first career OSCAAR start on Friday night. Thompson is also a regular as part of Delaware’s weekly Late Model division, so he will hold the same advantage as the rest of the hometown drivers in terms of track experience.

In addition to experience, these four drivers will hold an additional advantage over the rest of the field: tires. Each OSCAAR driver is only permitted one new tire per event, but since the four drivers have yet to run a race in 2013 they will be allowed a total of six fresh Hoosier tires.

Among the cast of former Delaware regulars is David McCullough (No. 39M). McCullough was a weekly modified regular and has made both starts with OSCAAR so far this season. In his two starts, the Glencoe, Ont.-based pilot has finished fifth and fourth, respectively. He will look to get on the podium for the first time in his young OSCAAR career.

    Young Guns Take Over

A number of young drivers are a part of a significant youth movement sweeping over OSCAAR. These drivers include 2012 rookie-of-the-year Davey Terry, top contender Matt Barton, three-time winner Brent McLean, and current rookie Bobby Tolton. This young cast of drivers are never afraid to squeeze the car in to any hole and each has proven to be among the series’ most dynamic personalities. One thing is clear: the future is now on the OSCAAR Modified tour and it appears to be bright.

Veteran driver Steve Smith (No. 98) is set to return to the OSCAAR modified tour this Friday as well. Smith, based in Durham, Ont., is the only driver not named McLean to earn a win with the OSCAAR tour. Smith’s win came last July at Sauble Speedway. Smith hopes to run a partial schedule this year as he did last year. Smith’s efforts on Friday will be supported by At A Glance Screen Printing and Becker Bros. Towing.

Racing gets underway at 7:30pm on Friday night at Delaware Speedway. Spectator gates open at 6:00pm, while practice gets underway at the same time. Pit gates will open at 4:30pm for competitors. The OSCAAR Modifieds will be joined by Delaware’s weekly Demar Aggregate Truck division and the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup.

  • Corey Jones to Join Super Late Model Field

Corey Jones to Join Super Late Model Field

Corey Jones, a veteran of the Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modified tour, is making the jump to an OSCAAR Super Late Model starting this season. Jones will leave the storied open-wheel tour at the conclusion of this year, but will run select events with OSCAAR through the end of 2013.

Jones purchased a Howe-built Super Late Model from Shane Gowan (No. 39) who had purchased a pair of cars out of the United States over the course of the winter. Jones says he’s still unsure how the deal all came together.

“We just got chatting one night at the races and I told him what I wanted to do,” explained Jones. “(Shane) invited me over and we went from there.”

The two drivers will work together over the course of the year and operate as unofficial teammates.

“He’s done this for quite a while,” said Jones. “He and (crew chief) Kelly (Hallett) should help to point me in the right direction as we start out here and compare a few notes.”

The Shakespeare, Ont.-native Jones will keep the same No. 82 he has run since he began racing with the Waterloo Regional Kart Club in the early 2000s and with the Vintage Modifieds.

Given the timing of the change, Jones will continue to compete for a point championship in the Vintage Modified series, with a limited OSCAAR schedule in 2013 to maintain his rookie eligibility for the 2014 season. Jones has a preliminary schedule in place, and intends to make his OSCAAR debut next weekend at Sunset Speedway for the Don Biederman Memorial.  Other dates on the team’s schedule include an August 11 date at Kawartha Speedway and the 21st edition of Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic in October.

“It was the right deal, not at the right time, but it was the right deal,” said Jones. “I couldn’t back down from it.”

Jones also said he has had a longstanding appreciate for Super Late Model racing in Ontario, making OSCAAR the next natural step in his racing career.

“I’ve always liked the Supers and I’m really excited to try and run with them,” explained Jones. “The cool look of the cars, the speed, the sound (is amazing). It’s double the speed. That alone definitely makes me interested. I hope I’m as competitive as some of the other guys out there.”

The move to a much bigger, faster Super Late Model will pose a few challenges for Jones who will race a closed-body race car for the first time in his career.

“Just getting used to having fenders on the car and the difference in the tires,” said Jones. The Vintage Modifieds run on a treaded tire, while OSCAAR competes on a 10” Hoosier Racing slick.

“Once I get used to the difference, I hopefully should fall in line and pick it up pretty quick,” he said.

Jones has set goals for himself his limited starts in 2013, but also has realistic expectations.

“For the first couple (of races) I just want to get comfortable with the car. I want to learn some setups and what I’ve got underneath me,” said Jones. “I don’t expect, by any means, to come out the first couple of races and be middle to top of the field. But I hope by Autumn Colours I’m pretty close to being up to speed and can battle anybody on any given night.”

The jump to OSCAAR will provide a completely new experience for Jones, who has yet to race with any of the drivers on the OSCAAR tour. Jones, however, says he is excited to race with Gowan.

“It will be all new to me,” said Jones. “It’s going to be exciting to race against (J.R.) Fitzpatrick and all of those guys.”

Jones is working to put the finishing touches on a car which was largely prepared in advance by Gowan. The team hopes to test next week prior to Jones’ debut at Sunset next Saturday.

Jones will enjoy sponsorship on his Super Late Model from Royal Bank of Canada, Remax – Troy Schmidt and Lydia Miu, Accountable Automotive, Anmar Cleaning Inc., Lafleche Roofing, Octane Productions, and Innotech Machine Shop.

  • Three Races in Three States for Tracy Hines this Weekend

Three Races in Three States for Tracy Hines this Weekend

NEW CASTLE, Ind.— June 20, 2013— It takes a great amount of versatility to be a champion, especially when competing in the three USAC national divisions. Tracy Hines has shown this type of versatility time and time again, as is evident by his two-career USAC titles in two different divisions. This weekend that trait will come in handy as he competes on a pair of the largest tracks on the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series schedule as well as one of the smallest on the Honda USAC National Midget Series docket.

The weekend will open for Hines on Friday, June 21 with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series at the Terre Haute Action Track in his home state of Indiana, as he pilots the Hansen’s Welding Inc. DRC for the running of the Tony Hulman Classic, which was postponed by rain last month. He’ll then head to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., on Saturday, June 22 for another event with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series. The weekend will conclude for the veteran driver on Sunday, June 23 with Honda USAC National Midget Series Dirt Championship at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc., aboard the Parker Machinery/Powered by Toyota Spike.

“After having a couple good runs on the bigger tracks in Pennsylvania, earlier this month, we’re looking forward to going to Terre Haute and I-96 (Speedway) and applying what worked out east,” said Hines. “Having some bad luck to end Indiana Midget Week, it will be good to get right back in the midget and hopefully make up for that with a strong run at Sun Prairie (Angell Park Speedway).”

Last season with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series, Hines finished 12th in the Tony Hulman Classic at Terre Haute. He made three starts at the legendary half-mile in 2012, earning a pair of top-five finishes. Hines came home third at Terre Haute during Indiana Sprint Week and was fourth in the fall. He has three career USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car series wins at Terre Haute, with the first coming in 1999, followed by a victory in the Tony Hulman Classic in 2001 and his most recent triumph with the series at the half-mile came in 2003.

“The Tony Hulman Classic has so much history and prestige,” Hines stated. “I was fortunate enough to win it once and it would be great to win it again. It’s been a while since I’ve been to the winner’s circle at Terre Haute. We know we have the package to run up front there and be in contention. We just have to do our jobs and let the rest take care of itself.”

Hines raced once last year in the state of Michigan with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series at Hartford Motor Speedway, which is a half-mile like I-96 Speedway. At Hartford, he finished sixth in the 30-lap main event. Hines has made one start in a sprint car on a half-mile this season, finishing sixth at Port Royal Speedway and setting fast time that night. The last time that the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series visited I-96 Speedway was in 1996.

“We’re were supposed to race at I-96 last year, but Mother Nature interrupted that one, so it’s good that the track and USAC were able to get us back up there this year,” he noted. “Prior to last year, it had been a while since we had raced on the dirt in Michigan. I-96 is a big place and that’s a track where starting position will be very important. That all starts with time trials and we are going to do our best to time in well and put ourselves in a good spot for the rest of the night.”

The event at Angell Park Speedway will be co-sanctioned by the Honda USAC National Midget Series along with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and Badger Midget Auto Racing Association. Hines competed twice at Angell Park Speedway in a midget last season, finishing third in July at the track. He also made one start with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series at the third-mile, coming home seventh in a 30-lap event. Hines won a total of seven times in 2001 and 2002 at Angell Park Speedway, including winning the Fireman’s Nationals back-to-back each of those years.

“Angell Park is a track that’s been very good to me over the years,” said Hines. “Last year we came close to winning a couple of races there. We’ve been working on a few things this week that we ran across during Midget Week, so we should be good right out of the trailer. With it being a Badger (Midget Auto Racing Association) and POWRi race also, there will be a strong field of cars up there.”

Hines enters the pair of USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series events seventh in points. He has two wins on the season, along with five top-10 finishes. With the USAC National Midget Series Dirt Championship, he is ninth in the standings after the opening five races of the season last week during Indiana Midget Week.

  • Consistent Kennington Takes Over Championship Lead

Consistent Kennington Takes Over Championship Lead

Returning to his home track at Delaware Speedway is always special for #17 Castrol Edge Dodge driver DJ Kennington. In front of plenty of family and friends once again Kennington showed his amazing consistency during round number two of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series securing another top five finish and with that Kennington takes over the top spot in the overall championship standings.

Beginning with practice early in the day the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team went about their work fine tuning their car for the race. Kennington would conclude the final practice session with the quickest lap time. The St. Thomas, ON driver came up just short in qualifying and claimed the second starting position on the outside of row one. “I was just a little tentative” said Kennington afterward.

As the green flag dropped action picked up quickly and drivers were pretty aggressive. Kennington took his usual steady approach settling into a comfortable pace and staying near the front of the field.

As the caution flag flew just past the 1/3 mark the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge made a scheduled stop for fuel and also some handling adjustments. “The car felt just a little off” explained the driver. “We made some pretty significant changes trying to improve”.

Kennington would put the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge into the lead of the race on lap 78. The handling however still wasn’t at 100% and he would give it up a few laps later.

Following the second scheduled stop for fresh tires Kennington again looked to make a charge but would come up a little short in his bid for a fourth victory at the track. The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge would cross the finish line fourth.

“We just missed the set up a little bit” said Kennington. It was getting a bit wild at the end with some guys really pushing the envelope so we took what we could and brought the car home pretty clean. We’ll regroup this week and have the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge ready to rock next week” he stated.

DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team will return to action for round three of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on Saturday June 22nd at the Speedway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville, ON

  • Dowler Scores Another Solid Run In EMCO Dodge

Dowler Scores Another Solid Run In EMCO Dodge

June 16 2013. Sherwood Park, Alberta’s Noel Dowler and the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge team had a busy week prior to round number two of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this past weekend, the EMCO 200 at Delaware Speedway. In front of a large contingent of EMCO customers and staff Dowler chalked up another top ten finish after battling back from an early obstacle.

The #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge team worked hard through practice to improve the set-up of the car and following the second session the driver was pleased. “The car is fast and it felt really good, I’m excited about the race” said Dowler.

Qualifying is still something that the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge driver needs to work on. “It’s something I need to improve and be a little more aggressive at, we were faster than 15th where I qualified” said Dowler.

Once the green flag flew for the EMCO 200 Dowler set about improving his position in the field and that’s exactly what happened. Smartly moving the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge toward the top ten. “The car was pretty stout all day” said the driver afterwards.

As the race progressed Dowler continued to work hard and looking to gain positions. However they’re night would become a battle during a scheduled pit stop. “We broke a wheel stud during out pit stop and went down a lap” explained Dowler so we put our head down and fought back” he added.

A determined Dowler pushed the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge looking to gain back as many positions as possible and began marching forward. In the late stages another caution flag flew that benefitted the team. The first car one lap down they were granted the free pass back to the lead lap. Dowler continued his charge in the late stages and crossed the finish line with a hard fought sixth place result.

After two events Dowler sits fourth in the overall championship standings

“All in all I’m pretty pleased” said Dowler. “I have to thank the crew for doing a great job making the repairs; one lap could have easily become three laps, their work kept us in the hunt to get our lap back. I managed to drive back up to sixth without really ruffling any feathers, I might have been able to nudge my way up and get another spot or two but I didn’t think that was the way to go especially this early in the season. I’m happy we bounced back with a good result with all the EMCO supporters here tonight and I’m looking forward to getting back at it next week” he stated.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series consists of 12 events from coast to coast in Canada. The next race is Saturday June 22nd at the Speedway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville, ON. • Flat Tire Flattens Hathaway’s Night At Delaware

Flat Tire Flattens Hathaway’s Night At Delaware

June 15, 2013- London, Ontario– After a very successful 3rd place finish at the season opener 3 weeks ago at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Hathaway and his team were looking forward to getting started on the oval tracks on the schedule last night at Delaware Speedway. A flat tire however early in the 200 lap EMCO 200 took that away from the hard charging team.

Returning to his roots at Delaware Speedway, where Hathaway got his racing start and won countless races, Jason Hathaway and his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodgewere poised to have a great night at the familiar track.   The car practiced very well, 3rd on the speed charts and Hathaway laid down a 6th pace qualifying effort.

“It’s great to come to the track every weekend and know that we have a car that is very competitive everywhere we go. The guys in the shop worked really hard during the off season and during the week and we are excited to show what we can do this weekend.” said Hathaway during the autograph session flanked by the popular ROCKSTAR models trackside.

Starting on the outside of row 3, Hathaway and team spotter Jeff Gotalear worked to get a run going early and to get down to the bottom groove of the race track off the start. This set him up to content for 5th and by lap 17; he had taken over the spot.   Hathaway pulled into the 4thspot when he reported in wicked vibration to his Crew Chief Craig Masters. By the time Hathaway brought his race machine to the attention of his over the wall crew, his left front tire was flat. Under green flag conditions, the team changed the tire and repaired the damage to the car. With green flag laps still being recorded on the track, unfortunately he went down 3 laps to the leaders.

Hathaway battled back as much as he could but was running on his own lap for the remainder of the race, recordings some super-fast laps and working his way back up to the 11th finishing positions.

“This was not the night that we worked for tonight. We had a great car and the flat tire really wrecked our night. We battled back, but we could only get so far up in the field to get our laps back. Our over the wall guys worked hard never gave up. With our equipment and their determination we will battle back next week at MOPSORT.

The EMCO 200 will air on TSN on June 23, 2013 at 1 pm EST and on RDS2 on Monday July 8 at 9pm.

Despite the frustrating finish, Hathaway still has a strong hold on 3rd place in the Championship points standings going into the Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on the oval on June 22, 2013, near Bowmanville, Ontario.

  • Team Mopar Bounced Around At Delaware

Team Mopar Bounced Around At Delaware

Delaware, Ont. June 15, 2013 – Ron Beauchamp Jr. headed into round number two of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this past Saturday at Delaware Speedway confident behind the wheel of a brand new oval course car, but a late-race incident denied him a certain top five result.

Beauchamp was excited for the morning with a brand new #60 Mopar Parts/Exide/Pennzoil Dodge.

“I could really feel the difference in this new car,” he said. “It handled so much better than our previous car.”

#60’s 11th place qualifying time wasn’t as high as he would’ve liked, but the team remained in high spirits for the main event.

Beauchamp steered his new vehicle easily into the top 10, and the car was performing increasingly well with each lap. The team decided to make use of the first pit stop for fuel and minor handling adjustments. Their efforts paid off, and #60’s performance kept advancing.

The crew utilized the second pit opportunity for fresh tires and the Mopar Parts/Exide/Pennzoil Dodge hit its high note of the race, moving into 4th place.

An excellent result was in sight for Beauchamp, until a late restart following a caution period. Beauchamp was tagged from behind by #15 following a rough bout of racing. The hit propelled him into the inside wall with force. Unfortunately for the team, #60’s pristine new car suffered significant damage.

The team tried its best to recoup what they could in a pit stop, clearing bodywork to get the vehicle in shape to finish.

“When that late caution came out, I was pleased because the tires would cool off and I knew we’d be fast again,” Beauchamp said after the race. “It’s terrible that we had a top five finish taken away by a part-time driver.”

Beauchamp forged through the final laps, eventually crossing the finish line in 13th place.
Ron Beauchamp and the #60Mopar Parts/Pennzoil/Exide Dodge will get back in action at round three of the series Saturday June 22nd at Speedway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Martin Roy Records Top Five Finish At Delaware

Delaware, Ont. June 15, 2013.  Martin Roy battled hard during round number two of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and came away with a satisfying finish at the EMCO 200 behind the wheel of his #90 Batteries Expert/Gamache Dodge on Saturday.

Roy debuted a new oval course car, and his crew set it up to handle consistently over the course of the entire race.

In test sessions a few days prior to the race, Roy was feeling good about his new vehicle. In practice, the car held up to expectation and the team qualified a respectable 10th

When the race kicked off, Roy quickly collected positions and earned a spot inside the top 10.  However, #90 seemed to linger between 8th and 9th place and had trouble pushing forward in the field.

The crew pitted for tires and had a trouble with the right rear, which caused Roy to fall back in positioning. In light of the tire issue, he still managed to cling to the lead lap.

Despite the minor setback, the crew held on to the silver lining.

“When you’re the back of the pack on the lead lap, you really have nothing to lose,” said Crew Chief Mario Gosselin.

Roy jumped eagerly back into the race, and as laps ticked away, #90 managed to battle to the front of the field on lap 117. He was forced to relinquish 1st place in lap 123, but thankfully any significant car trouble was behind him for the remainder of the contest.

“The car was really good, but not perfect, and we’ll work hard to make the car better for next week,” Roy said after the race.

#90 grasped onto top five positioning through the rest of the race and battled to the end with a 5th place result.

“There is a lot of determination in this team and we want to keep improving,” Roy said. “I’m happy to take home 5th place.”

Martin Roy’s finish secures him into 8th place in the overall standings, with 65 points.

Martin Roy and his #90 Batteries Expert/Gamache Dodge team return to action this coming Saturday June 22nd on the Speedway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville, ON.

Tough Break For Jason White At Delaware

Delaware, Ont. June 15, 2013. Car troubles continued to plague Jason White and his #21 Bowers & Wilkins Dodge at Saturday’s EMCO 200. White was hopeful for a comeback after an incident at the hands of another driver soured the first race of the season last month.

During practice, old tires seemed to be the culprit of a subpar performance for the Bowers & Wilkins Dodge. The team regrouped, fitted the vehicle with fresh tires and performed better in qualifying, earning 15th place.

#21 didn’t miss a beat at the start of the contest, and he described the car as “fast, super fast.”

White fought hard and continued to claw his way to the front of the field.

“Either the car came alive or I did, or both” White said later. “We jumped right in line and quickly moved up.”

However as the race progressed, tensions ran high among the drivers and patience ran low. There was plenty of bumping and grinding among other racecars.

White continued to push forward among the hostile competition, but the car began to slow, alerting him of a problem.

#21 came to a pit road and the crew discovered a broken tie rod in the vehicle. The team did a great job of quickly making the repair and getting White back on the track.

Unfortunately for White, he went seven laps down and they were forced to focus on bringing home the Dodge in one piece.

“It was a tough break,” White said. “The guys worked really hard to fix the problem as quickly as they did. It’s disappointing but we’ll regroup and be back after it next week.”

Jason White will be back in the #21 Bowers & Wilkins Dodge at the next event, Saturday June 22nd at the Speedway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
